I have to measure them, but I think they are the 67mm...they would only go on the fronts with the center cap removed, but they still need a spacer. That should stick them past the fenders WHICH will cause rubbing. I'll post pictures as soon as i can, thanks for your help guys so far...

So I bought a set of RB-R 16x8 +10, and got them mounted on some 225/50s. My car is a '73 240z. As luck would have it, they do not mount up, at all. The place I went to said I need new studs AND spacers for both the front and rear. I was expecting the front (5mm) but not the rear. The car is on Tokico lowering springs and Tokico struts. What am I missing here? Were they totally wrong? If I do need spacers and studs all around, what length studs are people using with these wheels? I guess I don't know the stock dimensions of 240z studs and I am just hoping someone can inform me of this. I did some searching, I am sure it is out there but I came up with nothing. I posted this in the 16x8 RB-R group buy thread, but haven't heard anything yet. I really appreciate the help, a friend just wrecked my car a couple of days ago so since it is in the shop, I figure I'll take care of this now. Ruined a perfectly good set of American Racing libras. $%&* life, haha. dominic

Carl, your car is gorgeous, those libres sure look a lot better than mine, haha. I have the old invoice for my car from the original owner, but it doesn't list the price of the wheels. I'm glad to know both what they sold for and what a good example will fetch, thanks for that info. barichardson5727: The bumpers are the MSA fiberglass ones, which offer basically no protection, but hey, they look good.
-
Well, they are sort of stock. They are american racing libres and they were put on by the original owner at the dealership, sort of optional equipment. I might be selling them soon as the RB-Rs will here shortly.

A couple of days ago a friend of mine took some photos of my Z, and I wanted to share them with you guys... see what you thought. Another friend of mine took the last 4 shots with an old medium format film camera, which I am super psyched on. Only thing that sucks is that I JUST ordered a set of RB-Rs before this, but they didn't arrive in time. Oh well, just gives me an excuse to take more pictures. http://gallery.me.com/dominic_i#100034&view=mosaic&sel=0

I daily drive my '73, and sometimes I wish that was not the case. Every day there is a new creak or moan, the gas fumes overpower anyone who gets in the car (which is pretty fun) and it has THE harshest ride I have ever encountered. I live in Baltimore, which has roads almost as awful as the local drivers. I keep toying with the idea of moving on...but for some reason I can't pull the trigger. That, and a DeLorean is THE worst daily driver I can think of. I did it for a month, and I should have been shot for it.

Is anyone making carbon fiber or fiberglass door panels?
DeLorean replied to Daggetlover's topic in Interior
Mark Rolston had some made for his (epic) Z. Here is a link to his page with some photos and ordering info: http://web.mac.com/markrolston/NewSite/Z-Blog/Entries/2008/10/31_Carbon_Fiber_Door_Panels.html -
Anyone have any information on this car?
DeLorean replied to mikeith's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I'm pretty sure that car is from Vildini or a customer of theirs. Here is a gallery of the car, though it doesn't have the watanabes on it. http://www.vildinimotorsport.com/gallery/shaw240z.html The gallery starts with the car painted orange, but on the second page it is as you posted above. The flares, bumper, and hood are all CF....little much if you ask me, but the car still looks incredible. That tan interior with the black is perfect. EDIT: Found the thread on the car, though there isn't a ton of information on it. Also found a super street magazine article on the car. http://www.superstreetonline.com/featuredvehicles/130_0711_1970_datsun_240z/index.html http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123371&highlight=shaw -
the cable snapped at the furthest point back, pretty much at the hood itself. I actually sourced a cable which should be here in a day or so. I'll try to get some photos of this process so that in the future people know what to look for....assuming I can fix it, haha. Thanks for the help though, I will let everyone know how it turns out.

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
DeLorean replied to k3werra's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Hey Speedgato, what size rewinds are those? Also, what kind of tires are you running? Your car looks incredible... menacing even, ha. -
I always forget to say what year the car is, don't know why. It is a 73. I do not know if the 280zx cable would work, I really appreciate the offer though. I'll look into it. I'm gonna go buy the longest screw driver I can find and go to work I guess.

My $%*&ing hood release cable just snapped, probably because it is 6 degrees outside right now. Anyway, i did some searching and found a couple of threads about the subject. My question is, how do I actually replace the cable? I noticed MSA has one for 40 freaking dollars, which if i have to get so be it. Has anyone done this that can provide instructions and maybe even pictures?

Alternator upgraded, now problems...
DeLorean replied to DeLorean's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Thanks a lot guys for the replies. I'll look into that gator belt too. I popped the hood and actually watched the belt slip at the crank. I'm now hearing from others that it could mean the pulley is bad? Haha, it's always something with this damn car... dominic -
I just put in a new high output alternator from z specialties along with one of their belts. Now, from time to time the belt will slip (squeal) at the crank. It tends to happen mostly when the car is idling and you rev it up. The belt is tight so that isn't the issue. I am in contact with the people from z specialties but I was hoping you guys might have some ideas. Can I get a smaller belt? They say that you can't run a stock belt on it so whatever belt I use needs to be stronger than stock. Any ideas?

I talked to Kim and he said that there are some 17x9 and 9.5 RB-Rs in flat black still available. I think I am one of the only ones who wants that color as I think it will look good on a white car. I have a 73 240z and it has tokico struts and lowering springs. Currently the car has 14" american racing libre wheels on it(anyone interested, heh?) with 195/70 tires on it. I really like the stance of the car now and I feel like getting 17" wheels might jack it up too much. What kinds of profile tires would you guys recommend using or am i just crazy wrong about that? Most importantly, I do want to flare the car, but I don't want to do it the proper way (cutting the fenders). That kind of freaks me out and I am hoping that I can still run these wheels without cutting the car up. Does anyone here have these with flares(fenders not cut) and a lowered ride height and have serious issues with rubbing? Rolling the lip is fine with me. I'm sorry if these are rookie questions, i have read this whole thread basically but I still feel uneasy about a definitive yay or nay. I talked to chris about this and he seems to feel it will work, but I would love to open it up to anyone else. On a side note, does anyone know of any photos of these wheels in flat black on a Z? I can't find any... Thanks guys

Hey guys, I bought my 240z about a year ago, and I have just started driving it again because it has been in the shop for months after being rear ended (MD drivers are the worst). It has American Racing Libres. When I bought the car, I think i remember the original owner saying that they were magnesium. Thing is, I will eventually get new wheels as I am not a huge fan of the ones on the car now. I assume they are american racing llibres and not knock offs, but how can i be sure? More importantly, are they magnesium? I have been doing some reading and it seems they are very rare wheels and I would love it if someone could clarify what they are and perhaps even what they think they might be worth. They are in great shape, one has some curb rash, but other than that they are great. Thanks for any assistance.

Hey, has anyone here used or know anything about this item? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Custom-Battery-Tray-240Z-260Z-280Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247QQcategoryZ33575QQihZ023QQitemZ360000318981QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V#ht_3446wt_0 My #%&$ battery keeps falling off and the tie down just broke today, so even though this is kinda expensive, I'm not sure what else to really do. Any suggestions?

So the diff mount in my 73 240z is totally broken and I have a new one on the way. Has anyone here replaced this part before? I just want to know if this is a fairly straight forward swap or if i am getting in over my head (what "skill level" is it?) Is there anything special I need to do in the process of pulling the old one and putting the new one in? Any advice is super appreciated.

Hey guys, I need some help. My car, a 1973 240z, is almost out of the shop after about a year and one of the last things to do is the front and rear bumpers. I bought the fiberglass front and rear bumpers from MSA and the early style mounting brackets (which are required, but need to be modified). Does anyone have the specs on what needs to be done to the mounting brackets? I searched but was unable to come up with anything solid. I called MSA but they didn't seem to know what I was talking about (?). Any help would be super appreciated...Thanks.

Hey guys, I was hoping to get some advice on what sort of products and methods I should use to clean a fuel tank for a 240z. Thanks for any ideas.

ROTA wheels RB 16x8
DeLorean replied to kellhammer's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Hey guys, I just want to understand this properly...16x8 with a 10 offset will or will not work with a stock non flared 240z? I'm a little confused with what is the limit when it comes to all this. Thanks guys. -
Hey guys, I have been looking around for a decent pair of seats for my 240z for a while and only came up with the either really expensive options (Sparco, Recaro etc) or the cheap nasty ones. The other day I learned of a company called Status and they have some really good looking seats for decent prices. Do any of you know anything about these seats or perhaps own them? Any reason why they wouldn't fit in a 73 240? Thanks for looking, let me know what you think... I'm looking at the Ring in alcantara... statusracing.com

Hello again, I am searching (again) for a driver's side fender for a '73 240z. I ordered one locally, but was not told that it had flares on it...so it was useless. I live in MD so I would love to either pick it up or not pay a ton for shipping. I am looking at about 300 bucks from zsource and just wanted to check to see if i could find one cheaper and closer. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, i looked around for a gas tank for a 73 240z and have come up empty handed. I was hoping someone here might either have one or know where i can find one. It is about the only part i need to bring life back to my once ruined car. Thanks in advance.

looking for 84-85 non turbo wheels
DeLorean replied to spacecase70's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I have a set thats just sitting there...let me know if you are interested. They would need a little attention in terms of polish and finish but there isnt any curb rash.
