  1. Yes it was a great night. Thanks for making this z newbie feel welcomed. It was great to see some sweet z cars. I would love to do something like this on a regular basis. Maybe Stockton or Sac area. Anyways, what is this I hear? Track night in Sac. Sounds good to me. It was great meeting you guys. Z-ya soon. -Jaime
  2. If you're having problems with charging system, make sure you rev the motor past2500 rpms to "turn on the alternator. If that's not it then get a volt meter to make sure you didn't get a new defective alt. That's happened to me before.
  3. Did you remember to fully charge the battery before installing the new alt. If not that may damage your nwe alt. Check all of the connections. Also it is recomended to replace the voltage regulator with a new alt.
  4. I've got a proposition for our government. All cars on the road should have built in phones. And the liscence plate # will be the phone #. This will make it easy to tell these "morons" just how much we appreciate them without the use of hand gestures.
  5. on my 240 there is a fusible link in the form of 14 guage wire between the starter and 12v power. I would check there first. If it smells burned or feels soft to the touch, then it's shot. Otherwise I would check the whole electrical system when it's light out.
  6. I spoke with a rep. from ground control today. He said they no longer make/sell offset alum./delrin camber bushings because thay had a problem with them slipping. Anyone had a problem with this? Are these bushings worth getting? Any info would be great.
  7. That news is good to here. I've also been thinking of the Tokicos. Smokin deal too!
  8. Hey guys, is this a private gathering... I'm a bit new on this site and would like to meet too.
  9. Igor, your project may be closer than you think. Check the Buy/Sell/Trade forum on this web page. You just might find what you're looking for with that budget.
  10. That's wierd...I don't remember doing that....
  11. I've got a shop manual. What year is your car?
  12. Yes for 6cyl. operation- red: 12v pwr green: NEG. ign. coil brown loop: cut and tape ends orange loop: leave it alone
  13. Actualy the green wire goes to NEG. coil terminal. As for the car not starting: I had that problem when I installed Crane Cam's ignition box on my 240. Apparently something about the old style tachs not working with the new style ignition (replacing the points) My buddies car did the same thing with MSD's kit. I believe the MSD part # you're talking about is to make an MSD ignition compatible with fuel injection, but I'm not sure. Either way if you have a new autometer tach your car should run just fine with stock or aftermarket ignition. Good luck.
  14. Cont: as for the orange wire: ONLY CUT for 4CYL. for 6 or 8cyl DO NOT cut orange wire.
  15. Looking on my 240: red:ign. power green: coil- And I also had to cut a brown wire for 6cyl. operation. For 8cyl. DO NOT cut brown wire on bach of Tach.
  16. Ya know my 240 did something very similar to that, except it was the ammeter that would twitch with the lights on. But not on a regular basis. After about a month and 1/2 the alternator went out. I ended up replacing the alternator and putting the headlights on relays and I haven't had the probelm since. Not sure if this is the same problem on your Z but I hope this helps.
  17. Actualy Tonk Hawk had a cameo. I also enjoyed the flick. However I would have loved to see those Ferrari's in action!
  18. Jim. I bought the car from a kid I used to work with. And I actually helped him install the springs. At that time I didn't know he would sell the car. So the springs are about two years old now. And I'm positive the stuts were not changed the entire 4 years of previous ownership plus the two years I've had it. I'm only guessing the struts are shot since I've ridden in a friend's 240 with the same springs and tire size. It rode alot better than mine....
  19. So if I want my car say 2-3 inches lower than stock I the ride quality on the street would benefit from coilovers and sectioned struts? Right?
  20. I'm looking to use a Taurus fan. What year/model should I pull from?Is it an sho, etc....?
  21. I think MSA sells them. Info at zcarparts.com
  22. I agree with griemann. I installed a set of MSA autopal kit. The bulbs do shine brighter than the sealed beam type but not true hid. One thing I defenitely recommend is installing a relay for the headlights otherwise the datsun headlight switch will get hot and possibly damaged. I also highly recommend the PIAA brand super white h4's as they are the closest to hid as I've bought.
