  1. W00000000! Huge breakthrough. I got my dash lights working! The dumbass PO plugged two banana plug ends together that shouldn't have been. I was digging through under the dash and found it. I also got the rear end sanded on a bit and most of the rusty areas sprayed with some grey can primer. Didn't feel like firing up the compressor gun just to have to clean it. The next weekend I'm out at the ranch i'll plan to put the whole car in black primer.
  2. Haha, nah it'll be quite awhile. The bodywork will be this weekend. I don't even have the harness yet. One thing making it expensive is converting to EFI from carbs. New fuel pump, new efi, new fittings, possibly new hardlines, etc.
  3. I've got my MS II and all the goodies priced out to about $1300 when all is said and done. I may just get a turbo dizzy for now and try it. Then sell it all later. We'll see.
  4. Bump. Still not ready to buy a dizzy. Wiring harness is in the mail, so I guess I can always just try it. Any help or suggestions would be great though.
  5. Easiest way is the "Prt Scrn" or "Print Screen" button on the keyboard, then open up Microsoft Paint then Edit Paste. Then save and upload to the forum. Obviously there are intermediate steps for resizing and such, but that's a way to do it.
  6. I know there will man, and maybe you'll be able to find a shortcut to your end goal next time. Best of luck dude!
  7. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :cry2: Say it isn't so! Sorry dude, sure wish you could have held onto it. It seemed like it was in good shape and everything, and you were making progress. Well, maybe next leave you'll have enough saved up to find another one, pre-swapped! GL man
  8. How did he know it would glitch like that is the question, lol.
  9. Emwhyr0hen (sp?) has them on his car. Go check out his pics he took to let us check out the rotas.
  10. It's easy pleezy: Remove horn pad (push & rotate... counter-clockwise IIRC) Remove nut and lock washer, Pull wheel off (mine was loose enough to pull by hand, you might need a puller) Get a 240z 260z 280z 280zx steering wheel hub, quick release hub, and steering wheel Put the hub on the shaft, put the bolt on Bolt the quick release onto the steering hub Bolt the steering wheel onto the quick release
  11. Ah, good, thanks for the info. Yeah I was wondering what would happen if I used the transistor as the input. I might try it, but you're right I should just plan to get a turbo dizzy I suppose. If anyone else has any ideas along these lines i'm open.
  12. It was a blast getting to see your car at MWZF scoutman, wish I had studied it a little more to help out my swap though
  13. If they move the flange up and back (closer to the stock location) I wouldn't think the S130 should need to be checked, it should be very similar to stock. I vote send it in now.
  14. Thanks for the link to that ATPturbo.com site, they do custom -4 stainless lines for CHEAP!
  15. Doing more reading... Looks like I'm at the very least going to need a turbo igniter to send the coil signal to the ecu so it knows when to fire the injectors. Anyone have some input? I feel like I'm talking to myself here .
  16. Because I'd need to either swap to an engine with a CAS on the crank, or find a (often expensive) CAS dizzy, AND get a turbo coil. This is supposed to be a cheap holdover till I can afford megasquirt. Don't want to buy twice. I just happened to snag a turbo wiring harness for a killer price. Hate to leave it laying around, but I don't want this to get any more complicated than it already is. My 260z controls the spark just fine. Bypassing the ECU's spark control would take alot of headache out of wiring it up in my case.
  17. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=83971&highlight=FI+transistor+ignition Found this old thread talking about installing a MSD igntition system on a 280zxt motor, which is along the same lines as what I'm trying to do. AKA use something other than the ECU to control spark, but keep the ECU working. That gets me closer, as it sounds like this is possible. Now for how to go about doing it...
  18. I searched around quite awhile looking for talk about doing this, but I probably wasn't wording it right. Didn't find much. I have a 280zxt wiring harness coming in this week, and as such I've been reading and re-reading the 280zxt to S30 wiring swap, and it seems to cater more towards a swap into a FI 280z. I have a carb'd L28 260z, of course with the stock transistor ignition system. My question: Is there a way to bypass the ignition functions of the turbo ECU, and just have it run fuel to the injectors. This would leave the stock transistor ignition system to control spark. This would allow me to run this setup on my non-CAS early L28 much more easily. Otherwise, I have to get the turbo coil, a turbo dizzy for the CAS or swap in my L28ET block, etc.
  19. Yeah prices and places would be great for that. Additionally the fittings for the -4 into the turbo would be nice (pic of that too would be cool).
  20. ... which has to be done anyway to mate one up to a L28 And no, I haven't seen anything like what you're looking for here or elsewhere.
  21. ^^ Agreed Your power levels sounds about right to me... that's a nice turbo. Man, Imagine what that thing would do with turbo headers, and a custom intake mani and larger throttle body
  22. Those headlights will never happen, too complex. The tires and wheels are just stupid big, forget it. The front is OK, but it needs work. The air dam isn't mean enough. Turn signals don't do it for me. Love the rest.
