  1. Head lights are a bit much after the mod, but the tails are perfect.
  2. I'm tickled pink with Megasquirt 24+ mpg, city driving and WOT tuning runs. Stock L28 with Stage 1 MSA cam and MSA 6-1 headers.
  3. 24mpg. That's right, you heard me, 24mpg. That's 90% city driving, with WOT tuning runs on the highway. Freakin awesome. That's probably not 100% accurate, but it's close. My car is supposed to have a 3.36 diff, so I ordered that pinion and put it in the 240sx trans. My speedo reads a little high, so I guess somehow I must actually have a 3.54. Car's lookin good Zeerari, you should come up for a weekend and we can install my rear end bushings or something
  4. That's awesome! What kind of throttle bodies are those?
  5. Never mentioned it here, but I had some initial issues with MegaTune locking up frequently. I think I have it fixed now, and was able to get a good 5 minutes without it locking up. Now the tuning REALLY begins! Thanks to jeffer949 for the DIYefi link and suggestion! http://www.diyefi.org/forum/viewtopi...49e36&start=10 The thing that, in addition to the above mod, actually fixed my lockups was plugging the usb-serial adapter directly into the laptop with a hefty serial cable going from it to MS.
  6. Lockups solved, thanks to jeffer949 for the DIYefi link and suggestion! http://www.diyefi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=285&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&sid=f34d645f34003cd4f1ecb13594549e36&start=10 The thing that, in addition to the above mod, fixed my lockups was plugging the usb-serial adapter directly into the laptop with a hefty serial cable going from it to MS.
  7. We should seriously somehow make reading the stickies mandatory before posting. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=84860 Granted, searching for this topic brings up a pile of $@#* due to loads of people asking about obscure random things (and subsequently being told to search), BUT the stickies ARE a good starter on this topic (which has been beat into the ground over the years).
  8. That looks strikingly similar to my GM v6 coilpack (3800 Series). If that's the case it could be off a v6 camaro, Grand Prix, Buick Regal... etc.
  9. The "bloop" made me lol. I was ok till the "bloop". Awesome stuff man, love your vids (and your car)!
  10. Drifters use zip-ties so they snap when they run into stuff, instead of breaking the kit.
  11. These lockups are seriously starting to hack me off. The car is running sooo well, but I can't make anymore progress until I can sustain a datalog. I cleaned the contacts on the voltage regulator, and I'm sitting at a much nicer steady 14v now at idle, as opposed to the 11.9ish I had before. I'm still getting spikes between 9-15v though, and megatune still won't run more than a minute without locking up, if I'm lucky. I was able to get one REALLY nice datalog though. datalog200811020235.zip
  12. So I was looking at a datalog, and noticed some issues with my battery voltage. A few points showed as low as 8v, and who knows how low it goes when Megatune locks up. I guess I need to take apart the voltage regulator to clean and re-gap it. This log reflects my recent zx alternator install, which has helped my overall voltages as well. Datalog included. datalog200811011828.zip
  13. Ah, it is just a put put put. I have headers and straight 2.5" through a turbo bullet, so pretty open That explains that. I attached my afr table as a reference. I'm still working on it, but it's running fairly well like this. I idle around 800rpm at 50-55kpa.
  14. Congrats. If I can get megatune to stop locking up I need to work on mine too. The MSQ I borrowed from another member had the bottom of the afr table VERY lean, causing surging at light throttle. 1st and some of second was unusable at light throttle. I've richened it up a little and it's much better, looks like you've done the same. Now I just need to work on the backfiring on decel.
  15. I run it with the extension, but I'll check every connection just to double check. I was thinking it might be some sort of setting. Does datalogging continue if connectivity is lost to megatune? It sure seems that way.
  16. I'll take a vid a little later into the process. It's pretty boring right now, I'm going VERY easy on it. I still need to block off the dizzy port (had some oil slung onto my headers, the smoke scared the crap out of me), and do some more finalization stuff. I'll see about taking a vid and some pics this weekend.
  17. It has been done. After 3 weeks, and lots of cussing, the Z is running fuel injected. I just got back from my first tuning run to get things generally dialed in. Tuning is fun Now that everything has been tested, I need to go back and permanently mount and wire everything. Should be able to accomplish most of that tonight, then it'll all be tuning from there! I'll post up pics when everything is permanent.
  18. Done. My firing order was wrong. I swapped the plugs from coil 2&3 and it purrs like a kitten now. I took a tuning run, and have been adjusting my VEs. For some reason, Megatune locks up occasionally. Unpluging and pluging the USB cable usually brings it back to life. Weird thing is, I can't find it reflected in the datalog, oh well. Thanks for everyone's help! datalog200810301518.zip
  19. To keep the air warm, duh Ok so my plugs are indeed firing, but I'm having other issues. I thought my O2 wasn't working, as it's been pegged at 20.6 or so until tonight. The lowest I got it to was 16.3, but that was briefly. In an attempt to get a solid idle, I've been tweaking on my VE table. My MAP has been idling around 80kpa + (way to high), and by richening it up little by little I've gotten it down to 70kpa so far.The problem is, as I richen it up and my afr's become reasonable, the car backfires A LOT. It's too loud to work on anymore tonight.

  21. To be honest, I couldn't find a switched 12v sourced that didn't either drop down to 6v, or cut off completely during cranking. I spent about a day and a half with a multimeter too. I ended up just running a switch for megasquirt.
