  1. hoping to see you on the road soon Gritz. I am also having fun with with the wiring nightmare right now for the body harness that I am using!!
  2. Hey guys, almost done with the swap, and just thought I would share it with the rest of the guys that don't go into the Toyota L6 forum. Anyways, here is the link- http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=128263
  3. A guy who has a z shop out here has one in his 280z. It is a super clean car with nitrous, but it is an automatic. supposed to be insane fast.
  4. I wanna say that you could maybe get the whole car done with 1 roll. But if your going to do everything (doors, roof, rear, firewall, ect..) you will probably need 2. I bought 2 but am not finished yet, so I couldn't tell you. It is very time consuming to lay it all down.
  5. damn, thats a beast. Almost makes me want to ditch my 1jz for an ls1!! No Lag!!
  6. started to lay down the heat/sound insulation today. A couple more pics-
  7. I had to patch a couple of spots, but they are pretty rust free.
  8. I had to patch a couple of spots, but they are pretty rust free.
  9. pics of the new floor plugs installed with some good old Nissan orange silicone.
  10. alright guys, finally got my interior sprayed with a rubberized under coat and also finally painted my roll cage. Just laying down some insulation now and as soon as that is done, I can mount my interior fuse box and get it running. Anyways here are a couple pics.
  11. torque it down while the silicone is wet. But like I said, don't use too much.
  12. I think he means that the Harmonic noises effect the engine internally as far as engine wear goes.
  13. You are in for a lot more super serious work then just the motor if you are swapping this into an S30 body. But it is worth it in the end!! The motor should be the least of your worries.
  14. Use a 2jz water pump if you are going to run a fan clutch or electric fans. When you install the oil pan, you are supposed to install it with the silicone fresh so it cures to the surface. DO NOT let the silicone dry before you install the pan or else it will leak. When you do the rear main seal, remove the seal brace (I.E. the 3 bolts) and re silicone the brace before you install the new seal or else it will probably still leak.
  15. I installed my crower cams over 2 years ago so I hardly remember, but you don't need to use that much silicone. The 2 chanels that you are talking about are supposed to be where the silcone goes and kind of holds it in place. Just don't go heavy with it or it can cause problems. Its just to keep oil from leaking into the front of the timing cover and around the valve cover gasket. The biggest bitch is shimming the cams right, it takes time and patience.
  16. the lightweight flywheels also have less rotating mass, causing the Rpms to drop faster between shifts.
  17. wow, that thing is super clean and sweet. Nice Job! Thats a badass ride!
  18. yah man, if you go with a v160 your are going to need to run a very low gear ratio that I don't think is even available from Nissan that is low enough. Other wise your 1st gear will be pointless. The v160 is quite a bit larger than the r154, I have seen them side by side.
  19. thanks gritz. The only thing that I am worried about in both of our setups is that running a filter directly on the turbo means that their is no room to have an intake tube with a fitting to suck out the crankcase vapors. We can't run a catch can, but I am thinking that venting the valve cover will be enough to release the pressure.
  20. alright, pipes are on the car and everything fits perfect. Everything under the hood is officially ready to rock and roll. Here are a few pics-
  21. Hey, you stole my setup ! J K. Looks great! How does the car behave, because I still have not been able to drive mine yet with this setup.
  22. well guys, the rain this past month has killed me on progress. Anytime I get a day off, it rains . Anyways, I'm back on the project more than ever and I am ready to get this thing running very soon. I made my aluminum intercooler pipes finally and had a friend TIG weld them for me and they came out bitchin'. Damn I wish I could weld aluminum! Anyways, I used 2.75" piping, because I thought that 2.5" would be a bit too small and 3" would be a bit too big, so I found a happy medium. I also had him weld on a tial BOV flange for my tial 50mm BOV. Pipes will be on this weekend along with a custom intake, and I will paint/seal the interior, along with laying down the sound deadening mat. Here are some pics of the pipes-
