  1. Here are a few more pics of the whole car. It badly needs a BRE type spoiler in the rear I think, so that is definitely on the list.
  2. Well, I finally, finally got the total suspension and brakes done. Just waiting on my driveshaft before I can get my exhaust put back on, and then I will be totally done with the drivetrain/suspension. Got the new wheels on and they look sweet. I rolled the fenders and it looks like I will be good on clearence on all 4 corners. The car looks sweet, and better than it does in the pictures. Getting close! Here are a few pics-
  3. ARZ- Damn, I wish you lived hear in SoCal, because I would love to go for a ride in your car. The only Z I ever rode in was a 280z with a stock L28.
  4. yah, its a race muffler they say, supposed to have less restriction than glasspack, so I went with that. I have a feeling its going to be insane loud, which I can roll for a while, but most likely will have to add a resonator. the reason I used that was because of clearence issues with my big 16 gallon fuel cell.
  5. yah, I used a 3" dynomax muffler too and that thing was literally straight through with no restriction. It is definitely going to be loud, but thats what I want. I like the raspy, ricey sound of an uncorked 1jz. If its too loud, then I'll add one more near the tranny area.
  6. I work for nissan and I can tell you for a fact that the vq35hr tranny is definitely different from the vq35, as it uses an internal slave cylinder and has the starter located on the opposite side of the tranny then the previos trans. As far as I know, the 04 style trans is different that the 06 style trans as they changed the synchos from a steel material in the earlier ones (which led to lots of grinding problems) to a brass material. When we were changing out the earlier trannies to the new updated versions, Nissan was making us change the clutch disk to a new one to match the new version trans, so It must be different in some way. Thats about all I know about the differences.
  7. yah, my diff has a 3.5 ratio. I think it will be perfect for this setup, as before in my supra I was running a 4.3 which was pointless with an upgraded turbo, and especially in a car as light a a Z.
  8. very nice job. Its good to know that the motor is good. Can't wait to see it running!
  9. yah, what size tires are those on the front sportmax wheels?
  10. Got my replacement strut housing put in after realizing that my old one was badly bent. Had to repaint and reweld on a new coilover collar, but the suspension is finally pretty much done. I also got my new custom cv shafts installed too and they fit perfectly. Going to to do the wiring and interior stuff next, so not too much longer!
  11. Here are a few pics of the exhaust I made. It's a full 3 inch that tucks up very nice and doesn't hang low. I have plenty of hangers and brackets for support, and I put in a flex section up front to take some stress of of my turbo manifold. I know its long, but it installs easy and comes out easy. I'll get some pics of it in the car after I install my driveshaft that needs to be made hopefully this week.
  12. Made a rear strut tower bar for the Z. Some pics
  13. Do you have any pics of the outside of the car?
  14. I took my anger out today, and made my exhaust. It turned out really nice and is very low profile. I'll get some pics after I paint it. It's going to be loud!!
  15. Well, had a bad day today. I got all my new coilover suspenion together and evrything was going great until I got to the right rear. Couldn't for the life of me get the rear strut to line up with the lower control arm to knock the new spindle pin in. Turns out the the strut is bent pretty badly. I didn't notice it when it was out of the car, but now I can clearly see. These were bought used and I never saw them installed. I have a backup that I can use, but I need to modify it for the coilover and swap the bearings and stuff all over again, and paint it all over again. Gonna set me back some time
  16. They are 245/50/16's all around, and I have seen this size on another members Z and they look great. They fill up the fenders nice.
  17. Installed some new Falkons on my sportmax 513's. They look sweet and hopefully be on the car within a couple weeks. This is the last leg on my suspension to be finished, so after this, then I will have it running very soon. Its all downhill from here . A couple of pics-
  18. All of the rain we are getting here in So Cal is killing me on my progress. Anyways I got my coilovers assembled in the garage out of the rain today. Had the strut assemblies painted and the new spring perches welded on. Can't wait to get them on the car. Here are a few pics.
  19. Got some new updates. Replaced the ball joints, wheel bearings/races, and removed the stock spring perches off the strut tubes. Got my new gound control coilovers courtesy of Edan from Silvermine motors who was a great help with setting up my suspension. He is a great guy to deal with for big brakes and suspension. Here are a couple of pics.
  20. sweet build! you are an awesome fabricator!
  21. thats weird, because I thought I had 280z style tubes so I ordered shocks for a 280z and when I stuck them into my 240z tubes they slid right in, but had a lot of play and didn't fit right. I then ordered 240z shocks and they slid in perfectly with no play.
  22. Please, please make some more videos of that beast! It is my favorite Z!
  23. I have always liked eibach springs on the cars that I have ran them on. You might not get as much of a drop, but they will probably last longer and resist to sagging better than the Tokico springs. I do think that Tokico makes a great shock though.
