  1. Check the FSM. The Factory bar is installed in FRONT of the axels. You have it backwards.
  2. 7K value difference between my '73 and my early '74. That is QUITE a gap. I tend not to believe it. I'm thinking all the numbers are a little optomistic. I wonder what the BRE replica currently on ebay is worth? (personal favorite paint scheme) I checked the above site, the AUCTION sales/values are lower than nada...good for us
  3. http://www.slickcar.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=3272
  4. I'm REALLY liking the 112..........You may have a convert. I have a '72 in the basement that may get sold, or finished/restored...not sure how it will go. 112 will be a serious consideration
  5. You are lucky! When the problem is occuring, is the ONLY time you can diagnose the problem. Have your budy hold the key in the crank position while the problem is occuring, and with a test light, you will quickly find the source of your problem. PS..Your KEY is NOT the problem.
  6. First, your self admitted abusive ranting on other sites is a given. Despite your head in the sand, it is obvious here also...ask around if you dare. You put many words in my mouth, FEW of which are true. My last post was ment to address your ABUSIVE/ ARROGANT/ ABRASIVE manor. CHECK MATE. TOUCHE! You should take notice: no technical issues were discussed in my previuos reply,.Just your ABUSIVE behavior. If you, as a man, feel the need to a "SMACKING NOW", I'll PM you my street address, upon your request. Bring your afore mentioned bat. ( see your previous posts extoling your manly bravado)
  7. Firstly, here are are some words; egotistical, concieted, bully, know it all, abusive, intelligent, vindictive, etc..... Choose the ones that apply....or add your own. Second: The quote you use to vilify me, was taken out of context. If you refer to the entire post, you may recall the phrases:" I'm a bit perplexed", and "I'm personaly baffled". These statements indicate a lack of knowledge, and or understanding. The intended inflection was one of looking for a clarification/explanation/edification. R.I.F. As for my expereince, it is considerable. Does it COMPARE to yours??, YES, but from my perspective.....you have more. CONGRATULATIONS, you are smarter than me. BTW, I know people smarter than you. The comparison of old and new fuel systems is somewhat reasonable, and useful. They both use gasoline as a fuel. They both are fuel injected. They use different fuel systems. One has hot start problems, one doesn't. since this is HybridZ, we tend to try and improve on the 40 year old car, using the technology available today. I saw some obvious paralells between new and old, and not knowing everything, questioned how and why, one system was better than the other. The phrase "tends to shoot some holes in some of his theories", would have been better worded; some concepts seem contradictory to others. Hence being baffled. MEA CULPA. I was looking to you for a better understanding, hence the smile.......Didn't happen. YOU HAVE a reputation for ABUSIVE RANTS. It is well deserved. I guess this is your cross to bear...having knowledge far above those of mortal men. My suggestion to you is to go get a 6 pack, and play a game of WHACK A MOLE......you'll feel better.
  8. Don't feel sorry. Chilton's mostly, and Haynes, sometimes suck. They CAN'T,and DON'T show you EVEYTHING you need to know, about cars. I didn't learn all I know overnight. My type of knowledge takes DECADES to accumulate. Your college education that is forthcoming, will be far more valuable than my automotive knowledge............GOOD LUCK IN COLLEGE.
  9. Dude, I do know. I'm not hot. Just trying to help those that don't know.
  10. Your illustration shows an OPEN themostat, and associated coolant flow, and does NOT illustrate the factory heater sytem. WHERE IS the diagram, showing coolant flow, prior to thermostat opening???
  11. Your head gasket is irrelevant to this discussion. Almost 40 years experience, and as much reading, have taught me a thing or two. I work with automobiles and their problems EVERYDAY, far more complex than a 70's Datsun. My repairs don't come back. I learned all the concepts a long time ago. Do you honestly think you have a better understanding of engineering, than the people who designed the car you own today???
  12. Your coolant path does not flow through the cylinder head, prior to thermostat opening. LOOK AT YOUR COOLANT PATH!!!Front of block to rear of block .Your coolant path does not include the cylinder head. Your thermostat will eventually open with the given configuration, but not before the cylinder head temperature exceeds the block temperature.
  13. Do your home work. Total system pressure is goverened by the RADIATOR CAP.
  14. You have Bypassed the cylinder head with your modification. (OVERHEATING problem to follow) Your coolant flow pulls from the rear of the block,(as consrtucted) NOT from the Top of the cylinder head (thermostat housing). Your circulation path should pull from the BACK of the water pump, feeding from the top of the cylinder head,(thermostat housing). I believe you are WRONG with your routing. I would appreciate confirmation on this.....
  15. "Besides aiding in warm-up the thermostat also provides a restriction that increases the coolant pressure, raising its boiling point to help prevent nucleic boiling. " The radiator cap determines the system pressure... and boiling point, factored with the specific gravity of the coolant, (water + antifreeze) ...nothing else. The thermostat has a very INDIRECT relation to system pressure , via the system's tempeature/pressure. Simply stated.........the Thermostat "restriction" does not effect, nor increase the coolant system pressure, nor increase it's boiling point.
  16. ALL engines have a BYPASS coolant circulation route, that CIRCULATES coolant until the thermostat opens. Up until the point of thermostat opening, Circulation is NEEDED, or hot spots may occur, and thermostat opening may be delayed. I believe you can take the heater core out of the circuit, but the coolant route/path must remain for proper cooling system operation.
  17. How about,.. The largest number of datsuns in your HOUSE.... Who's got the LARGEST parts stash???? Longest, uninterupted time spent on JACK STANDS. Name ONE member, who came in under budget. Who's got more than 10 datsuns. Name one newbie who can locate the SEARCH function button. You've had your car longer, than your wife/girlfriend. Tony D hasn't critiqued your post. Who does a better impersonation of ELVIS, YOU or Big Phil.
  18. Delasangre4231 outlined his problem, I suggested a solution, the suggested solution started the car. Sooo, how is it you feel this site isn't very helpful, unless you have a s130/s30????? BTW, what did you add to this thread???
  19. I work on the newest stuff all day long. Toyota. There are NO complaints of hot start problems!!!! Funny thing is........there are no injector fans, and, for the last few years, they run a RETURNLESS fuel system. Some cars use plastic injectors, some use metal, and some use plastic, or metal intake manifolds. I do not know what fuel pressure they run,(because there has not been a problem !) I remember early Saturn radiator cooling fans didn't come on until 227 degrees F. Later models were 221 degrees F. NO problems. From my experience, newer cars run hotter than older cars. So ....I'm also a bit perplexed I understand, and tend to agree with Tony D, but what I see with NEW cars tends to shoot some holes in some of his therories. I'm am personaly a bit baffled
  20. NO details= no help. Maybe he should go get a Lawyer @ $275.00 + per hour.
  21. I buy my cars for their attributes, not their colors....... BUT, I wish I could choose their colors. Don't get me wrong, my early 260z is QUITE A FIND, but orange is definately NOT my fave. I am now thinking on buying my next car, BECAUSE of it's color. If I do, this would be my FIRST choice. Butter Scotch interior required. 113 green. The silver blue (my first 260z back in 1979) would be my second choice.(my basement picture, current 48k 280z)
  22. You give NO facts, No specifics, or factual support to your claim. I seriously doubt that not one admin acknowledged your concern! (legitmate OR not) The Admins are pretty sharp around here ! You need to be CONSISE with your claim, name names, and not ***** foot around. (WTF, I can't say ***** foot?, CAT foot doesn't work.) How about the whole truth, and nothing but the truth??? Just the facts maam,
