  1. The beauty of the Z is it's body lines,(in my opinion). That's probably why most of us have one. Adding performance is a natural progression. I would stop building the Z car into something it will never be. I would keep it as is, enjoy it for what it is (classic), and buy that daily driver you're talking about.
  2. I don't understand the term Ultra High Efficiency?? This system is electricaly powered. Electricty to heat can be 100% effecient, and no more. If you are using the air conditoning in reverse, there are some mechanical losses(compressor), so not 100% efficient. This assumes I read correctly...... As far as AC performance, I can see many advantages. No heat loss from ducts, easy zone control, etc, which can lead to savings. And lastly, propane and electric are the MOST COSTLY ways to heat. Cost per BTU. Please correct me if I'm in error.......
  3. I have been heating my 2800 sf colonial with this coal stove for years. I have no other heat . It is exactly like a pellet stove. But more, and cheaper heat. No big chimmeny required. Burns out side air. No smell. NO SMOKE. Easy to store. About $200.00 a ton. Runs for days unatended. Do some reading and homework. There are calculator charts available on many sites. http://www.harmanstoves.com/products/details.asp?cat=stoves&prd=coal-stoves&f=DVC500 http://nepacrossroads.com/ http://nepacrossroads.com/fuel-comparison-calculator.php
  4. not mine, check his other items for more http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brake-discs-rotors-for-DATSUN_W0QQitemZ180466400173QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2a04a2bbad
  5. Just a thought on a cheap, strong replacement for the orginal belt/limiter. I have used old SERPENTINE belts to make repairs on many items. I have never seen one break.....ever! Seems to me you could cut to length, and either bolt or clamp the joint. Might be worth a shot.
  6. After some searching, I haven't found an answer. Has anyone already running Su's, reasonably tuned, replaced them with Z therapy carbs. If so....what has been your experience??? Better performance? Improved MPG ? More consistant Idle? Was the money worth the improvements???( if any) I'm very good with carbs, but lack the equipment (machine shop) to make these carbs 100%. Thanks........ `
  7. I don't think the absence of cotter a pin dictates a sub standard ball joint. Oem parts, and quality German aftermarket parts for my Mercedes, never have cotter pins.
  8. 1) Running and driving 2)almost running 3)looking for parts 4)working on it 5) paint jail
  9. I'm still unsure........... But FRITZ the CAT is on the list......
  10. Thanks again. You've convinced me to look/check there first. This kind of reinforces the reasoning behind having you car serviced at a reputable dealer. There is no replacement for someone who is FAMILIAR with your car. (see "dealers suck" thread)
  11. Thanks for the info. I find it very unlikely that I would loose the entire bank at the same time. That would mean at least 3 wires failed simultaneously!! (1 for each cylinder). Have you seen this happen??? I'm still thinking internal pcm failure????? The truck is still in his driveway. Too cold for me to play with outside.
  12. Thanks for the replies. The front bank is dead, no pulses to the coils from the pcm. Ran fine when parked, failed on start up. I found the TSB about the pcm etc. I'm betting the PCM is the main culprit. I told the neighbor he was looking at about $1000.00 in parts, plus My labor, and a tow to the dealer for pcm/key programing. This is one reason I DD a 1992 190e 2.6. Very simple, very cheap to operate. I'm waiting to see what the neighbor does,......poor guy.
  13. Dave.....did you get your car back?????
  14. They may be dragging their feet...........but .......the longer they hold onto your car, the longer the time till they get your money. I'm betting they got busy all of the sudden. It's ALL about the money!!!
  15. If your rotor wasn't on straight, you would have brake pulsation/vibration. Are you sure a tire isn't hitting something, when turned, causing your "noise"???
  16. You are RIGHT on many counts. Some times I listen to the advisors talking with the customers. If your not careful, the b*llsh*t coming out their mouths will make your ears bleed. There is no doubt you know considerably more than your service advisor. Most "fall" into that job. One of our advisors used to be a car jockey!! I have this same problem most every time I make a purchase. I know more about the product I want to buy, than the salesman trying to sell it to me!!! Good luck GET ALL YOUR OLD PARTS BACK!!!! THOSE CATS ARE WORTH GOOD MONEY!!!
  17. I hope you don't start or run the engine as seen in the first photo!!! I'd hate to hear what would happen if the air cleaner retainer screw(center carb) got loose and went down a venturi!!! The same goes for the speed nuts.
  18. Exactly how long have they had your car, AND all the correct parts supplied by you???
  19. If I'm not mistaken, written estimates are only allowed to vary by 10%, by law. Your state may vary. Most states have a "bill of rights" they are required to post where you can read it. Most times, in a small claims court, the burden of proof is upon the the dealer to document you were properly given an estimate. Your SIGNATURE on the repair order is a paramount piece of proof . Don't let them take advantage of you!!!
  20. Not to belittle Dave. But he brought his own eggs to the diner..(smart move, makes sense to me, better parts choice.).. There was no parts profit in the deal..or minimal. The first thing people hear is the dollar amount. If they feel the amount is reasonable, they don't complain. The hours are irrelevant. THE MAJOR ISSUE is the dollar amount, and inflation causes it to keep rising, along with every thing else. Everyone remembers when it used to cost less..... All repair shops are selling their TIME. It doesn't take longer than it used to to complete the job. It just costs more because of inflation. It's sticker shock. Lawyers get about $300.00 an hour +++. Your "A" technician is lucky these days to see $25.00 a flat rate hour. Don't forget, that 4 hours includes everything! Finding the car in the lot, setting it up on the lift, making the repairs, clearing the computor codes, cleaning up the mess ,throwing out the garbage, writing the repair order, road test and quality check. COME BACKS ARE VERY UNPLEASANT FOR A TECHNICIAN. And he also lost the 1 hour diagnostic fee. That cuts repair time down to 3 hours. Beleive me......you wouldn't want his/my job...........1 other thing, I have invested $70,000.00 + in tools to repair autos, and still spending, and I DON'T OWN the buisiness. How much do you spend out of your pocket to be able to perform your job to best of your ability???
