  1. so i've been doing some searching and just trying to find a straight forward answer on transmissions...

when doing an rb swap, you need a rb25det trans correct? now if that trans ever destroys it's internals, i can use the internals from a z32? This is where I just keep getting confused because i see z32 thrown around so much when talking about the rb swaps. Also, the final drive of these trans match the stock 240z rear diff or am I having to use the rb25 rear diff as well? Only the drive train area is what's concerning me on this swap and I find it hard to find a straight forward answer. Thanks

It depends on the swap you do. The rb25 trans is stronger than the rb20 trans. I have read that the rb25 trans is stronger than the rb26 but I don't know. You would have to put down alot of power to tear up a rb25 trans. So I wouldn't worry about it until you tear it up. I would not use a r180 diff I would swap it out for a r200 diff. You can get a r200 from any 75-83 280z. I have a rb20 trans in mine and I have 3.9 gear ratio diff and I like it. I don't drive alot of highway anyways. I hope that answers your questions

  2. can you seriously not just cut up the original one and make a new bottom out of sheet metal and mig the thing up to meet your needs? 800 for a pan is insane.

You can do that. I have but it doesn't look as good as a full custom pan. Plus no baffles unless you add them. Plus you will warp the hell out of the pan flange if you don't watch the heat when your welding it all up.

  3. I charge 475.00 for the rwd block and 575.00 for the awd block for my custom pan. I thought that was a good price. Thats the custom pan, pickup and sealant to seal it all up. I wish I could charge less but it takes alot time to make these.

I also considering making motor/trans mounts. So I could offer the complete swap kit to make life alot easier and less $$$$

  4. Thanks Pat, I have some pictures of my pans for you but I'm trying to see if I can upload them. One pan is steel and the other is aluminum. When will you be able to work with aluminum?

Email the pics to me at pbowser@clear.net. I'm working on getting a a/c d/c tig to do aluminum but it's going to be awhile. The machine I want is about 3000.00 dollars. But I'm looking

  5. cool that would save me a lot of stress induced headaches and sleepless nights lol how much time would you need to make one?

It all depends how fast you need it. This one I'm doing now I'm almost done and it's taking me 3 days to complete. I would say if everything goes right like the one I'm doing now less than 7 days.
