so a locksmith does not need a code? they can simply take a blank and make it work?
-
help 2+2 owners....i cannot find the key code on the pass door lock and it is not in the glove box. ideas? also what is the difference between a rear spoiler meant for the coupe vs. a 2+2? and just FYI--new wheels and tires coming in! sportmax 16x8 silver 002s and 245-45-16 tires
-
if any of you supercharger guys that are mounting them on the battery side can post a picture of the outlet/discharge tube/pipe it would be greatly appreciated. i am seeing how you guys are running the install and i am very interested in doing it myself. no twin-charge for me, i just enjoy the sound of a s/c
-
you just gave hope to this high schooler.....that z is clean! ...if only i had a coupe instead of a 2+2...
-
Well i got my complete kit in the mail yesterday for my 2+2....and wow. fitment for the rear bumper appears to be completely off. has anyone else had bad fitment with their kits? one side "fits" but it sits kinda low and the other side just doesn't want to hook around the fender lip at all
-
i got the lock cylinder out and there is not code of any sort on it. would the code be anywhere else? if not then i am going to try and buy a coupe parts car that is near me and hopefully the lady has keys

i am aware of this. i have HIDs in my high beams on my other car and i actually like them. i haven't used projectors yet but for now i am satisfied. down the road i will do the complete transformation though
-
this seems very similar to the projector retrofit that some of my buddies have been doing over at malibuclub.ca so you are going to mod "stock" head lights so they now have projectors? sweet one thing that gets me is the wrong use of terms for these. a projector is the reflective housing you have pictures above. an HID system is just the bulb with the ballast that produces the most awesome light ever... good luck on your project. as for me i am just going to get the cheapo lights that are on ebay for our cars and just throw the HIDs in there.

Photochops of my car!
Rustyfriend replied to Slammed68's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
what's the offset on those wheels? possibly a 1.5" spacer? you know what, what about complete stats on them? i am looking to do a similar style in wheel, too many people have rewinds and panasports lol -
L28S - Supercharged 78 280Z: engine build pics
Rustyfriend replied to boardkid280z's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
i am interested in seeing pictures of the intake manifold. i have an eaton m62 kit for a chevy malibu/grand am/alero and if i am still unable to sell the kit i will try to modify it to fit on the l28. any input? -
good news today guys. i went to a local yard because i thought i saw a wrecked z32. ends up there was not one but i did see a grand am that i wanted the spoiler off of for my other car. i went to the office and then asked if they ever get any datuns. ends up a few years back he went to pick up some "mercedes" parts and they ended up being datsun parts. he told me they were at the other shop down the road under a trailer. he told me $25 for everything that was there. I ended up getting 2 rear quarter panels for a coupe, front right fender, pair of headlight buckets, bent hood, hatch with broken glass, a rear bumper, 240z front bumper, and a second 240z front bumper in MINT condition, 2 complete sets of tail lights for a 280zx i believe, and one motorized headlight setup for an early 300zx? and a pair of some odd bucket/scoops that i guess go under a stock front bumper if only the rear quarters were for a 2+2.....mine are rusted a lil and these puppies are nearly mint. i am already in the process of putting on a new fender and headlight bucket on the right side

funny you talk about driving yours because i had my dad following me last night while i had dealer plates on mine. i was taking it to a shop to have the frame worked on and just as i left my road and pulled on to a major road my ignition system cut out and i was a dead fish in the water
-
well guys it happened again and this time it was while on the road to the shop that is going to bring my frame back to life. i was turning the directional off and all of the sudden i lost power to the ignition again. i honestly have no idea what is going on with the wiring with this car. it is hit or miss. if anyone has some good know how with the ignition system and has some specific pointers of what to look for, please let me know luckily it happened an 1/8th of a mile from "home" so i was able to push it back

surprise today for my z...i was in the back seat looking into the trunk (i don't have keys to open the hatch yet) so i could measure for a box for a system and i go under the carpet and through a crack into the spare tire well i see the lost exterior vent cover that i was looking for (those vents above the rear windows). so i take the cover to the spare tire area off to get to it and i see bad news....there is water in it that has frozen to ice and the original spare is toast for who knows what reason. cool part was that i found some jumper cables in there, no idea these cars came with them. also, when i got the wheel out of the ice i found another vent cover in the solid inch of ice. and on my way back home from working on the car what do i see? a coupe in someone's yard in the winter weather. i think i am going to have to stop by at a later date and see what the story is with the car and possibly pick up another z
-
mopar-if you do end up parting would you be interested in parting with the ignition if you have a key with it? i got one from one of the locals around me and those two wires that come out of it broke off for no reason
-
mopar-ok. but still a little direction would have been nice instead of just slamming the door in my face. a forum is for answering questions isn't it? whenever i search everyone just talks about specific wheels and not the overall picture
-
question for you 2+2 experts on wheels. i tried to make a topic about sizing but it was quickly bashed by a mod. what sort of offsets will work on the 2+2 because i heard the rear is a bit different than the coupe. i am guessing a 17x7.5 with +42 would not work? here is my other question. i have been on ebay a lot and have found those 4 to 5 lug bolt on conversion plates like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-4-to-5-LUG-CONVERSION-KIT-FORD-MUSTANG-79-93-AND_W0QQitemZ290204986064QQihZ019QQcategoryZ43957QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and seeing as it adds 2 inches to the width, wouldn't that allow a high offset wheel to work? if so then my wheel question would be easily satisfied because i can take some 17x7.5" with +42 from my chevy malibu and put them on. they have 225x45 tires on them
-
could anyone show me the pictures of the pieces that i should be removing in the door? i got the panel off and i am having a hard time seeing what needs to be done
-
i am here working on the car and i thought just for the hell of it, why not try and give it another try before i go searching for wires.....works.... gotta love the dumb luck
-
i haven't been able to work on it in the past few days, but i think something just might have come unplugged. because just before this happened i turned the wheel with the key out so it locked up and i can't remember what happened after i used the key to unlock it. i'll give you guys a post back today
-
if you could tell me what to check, that would be great. i am a beginner with the z. i only got it in november and i am learning little by little. the battery is good, the lights turn on, horn works.....it is an ignition problem because the car is giving me no reaction from the key. i just need to know how to fix it
-
well it seems my z decided to give me a hard time. i went to show my dad how i fixed the wipers on the z and when i went to turn the key, NOTHING happened. no radio, no nothing....this was odd because i had the radio going just about a minute before this happened. any ideas? i am getting no reactions at all from the key in any way.
