spline counts eh...sounds like a @#$* gm auto? whys that?

let me start out by saying that I have searched "supra tranmission" for a few pages and have found stuff on manual, but not auto. right now i have an automatic z, and I really don't mind having an automatic. what kills me is that it is only a 3 speed, so my thought is why not try to mount an automatic from a supra. supras had a 6 speed auto correct? would it be as simple as machining a plate to make the connection between an l28 and a supra transmission?

what i did while looking for a donut wheel is i made a template of the pattern out of wood. drilled the holes out to meet the exact bolt pattern of the wheel. so going to the yard and looking for a wheel was a simple as holding the pattern up to the wheel i was looking at

it's just really scary to do because you are afraid of making a mistake and scratching the new paint

i wasn't sure where to post this so i am here, if it is wrong feel free to move it. i am currently in the town of mosier in oregon for a trip. while driving around today in the rental, i stumbled across what appeared to be a 280z coupe. it appeared to be rust free, but did need a paint job. appears to be a very solid car. seems like it is at a house where you can get it pretty cheap. thought i would let you guys know if you are near here and want a solid parts car or good restoration. it is off of exit 69 off 84-east (mosier exit). get onto third avenue which becomes state road/pioneer road according to google earth (using it while making this post because i do not know the area, i just know where i drove). google earth does not recognize the road but if i remember correctly it was called "root road". farming area for mexican workers. it is a gravel road. go down about a half mile on it and you will see the house on the right, few cars in the yard. if i was local i would be all over this car. any interest? i am only here in town for another 24 hours

I am upgrading my rear sway bar to a 7/8 inch bar. I went to the local auto parts store and they do have 7/8" 'thayne bushings, but they are not square like the ones on the z. i have looked through msa and ground control but i cannot seem to find them. i figured that hybrid z is full of people who have gone through this, so how about it? does anyone know where to find some square 'thayne bushings that will hold a 7/8" rear sway bar?

I would also have to say paint. It is a genuine Lambo yellow paint job. has a very nice pearl to it. sadly it is not captured well on camera at all

I currently own a '77 2+2 which is going to be autocrossed. i have a roll cage for the rear area but i really do not want to mount it because it will limit the use of the rear of the car tremendously. my question is this, will the 2 shoulder straps of a 4-point harness be long enough to extend to the rear and bolt to the strut towers?

any thought of making panels for a 2+2?

so since i have had my car the directionals have worked, no worked, worked.....and so on so i am trying to figure out where the problem is. my buddy (a z maniac) tested a few things and everything is getting power, and the relay works for the hazards. you can hear it click but nothing lights up. the switch is also fine. basically i am getting no results from anything for the most part. anyone have a similar problem? and when trying to tell me how to fix it, please speak to me like i am in 3rd grade. i know very little about what is called what, so try to be as simple as possible and describe what the part looks like please. thanks!

quick question.....will a coupe rear bumper fit a 2+2?

the video stopped at 0:27 for me. anyone else? EDIT: worked fine. and just to enforce the overall opinion of the board....do not sell! throw a more modern engine in the z and let it rip. rb or 2jz are both great engines. personally, a 2jz with a 6-speed sounds like the best option to me

nice work man! it just reminds me how i hate my auto....my first 280z (now my parts car) was a 5-speed and i ditched that because of the rust and now i am stuck with the auto until i have the time for the swap. winter time...

well if you plan on moving on to another z....don't scrap it. take the good parts and save them for when you need them, part out the rest, and then take all of the left over and bring it to the scrapper

that sound like the one i have. i have a 2+2 bolt in roll bar that bolts down to the fender wells

has anyone put a small roll bar in the back for a racing harness and could still use the rear seats? i have a roll bar that goes in the back seats but no bar for the harness

is the 280zx mounting different than the 280z? because my bellhousing was only held to the motor by 4 simple 14mm bolts. just on bolt those and the engine will come apart from the transmission
