Bastaad, the 350Z and the Camaro SS both redlighted the launch in anticipation. I had a .692 to the NOVAs .656 on the final. I know it looks bad but I was actually very in tune with the light tree.. Terry
-
Thanks guys! Yes I beat the Nova but it was so close I dont even want to think about it. What sucks for him is that he was running 10.7s all night in test n tune on a 275 shot of nitrous then ran out so decided to come into the V8 NA class. LOL I guess he didnt think I was a threat with my mild little Z. My parents also said it was like watching the lion vs the mouse when lsitening to our engines and staging habits.. Well the ole Z did have a mouse in it after all I hope someday I can come to Ennis.... Terry 11s are coming soon....

Thanks to guy here are a few vids of the competition friday here in San Angelo of which I won. There are no lights on this track so I apologize but I went a best of 12.39 and slowest of 12.45. The 350Z TT redlighted at.383 and I ran him down as well as the LS1 Camaro. The FInal race against the NOVA was a spine tinger....0084 difference across the traps...enjoy Terry http://www.datsun-280zx-lt1.com/Movies/CorZette_vs_350Z_TT.wmv http://www.datsun-280zx-lt1.com/Movies/CorZette_vs_Camaro_SS_LS1.wmv http://www.datsun-280zx-lt1.com/Movies/Corzette_vs_1970_Nova_383_Stroker.wmv

Dale/Kevin the R200 came out of a 1985 180SX Turbo. It seems to be an LSD and launches great. I have a 2800 stall in a 700R4 auto. My brake stall is only about 1800 RPMS at launch however. I hold the break and give it gas just before the wheels start to turn and slam the throttle halfway thru the last yellow light on the tree. I cut a .504 light yesterday on the 12.3 run. I expect to have some traction issues with the 3500 stall coming soon. But I will go to the 27 inch Hoosiers before then so it still should be fine. I need to get my launches to at least 1.7s before breaking 11s. Im sitting at 1.90s now so the convertor should help lots. The 411s pull hard as hell after I get rolling. Im real happy with the choice thus far. Tannji I have the vids and will send to whoever cares to post them. I am having them put on a cd for easier storage. The 350Z turbo was a classic to see..... Bigger jets for the next time out. I should be able to hit 113 MPH or so I think....12.2s are a stretch but just maybe......we'll see. Terry

Wow! What a night. First I ran a best of 12.3 at 111.87 and best MPH of 112.2 with the 411s. I cross the traps at 6000RPMS just perfect for this setup. Even though I picked up almost 2 tenths Im still only launching 1.90s or so. I expect the 3500stall will be the icing on the cake for the 350 setup. Im getting some Hoosiers 27 inch tires so I will have a little more room in third gear. No traction problems at all and man once it hit 2500 RPMS it jets like a bat out of hell. 7.90s and 8.0s on the eigth. Im happy with the swap. This diff you can not see thru it when the shafts are out but the 354 I could, what does that mean? One is an LSD? OK the good stuff.....I WON THE SAN ANGELO STREET RACING V8 NA class tonight! I beat everyone I ran and it was SWEEEEET!. I have videos of them all and the final I only got the guy by .0064 secs!!! It was a 1970 NOVA 383 stroker...awesome race....now everyone knows me for sure. Also I raced a 350Z with the turbo kit and won 12.43 to 12.66 I think. It is a classic video...old meets new. Ill have it to post soon... I also beat all the F Bodies!!! I hate F Bodies.....at least for tonight I rule!!!!! Thanks guys for reading...getting faster and faster... Terry
-
OK finally got the 411 R200 in from Ross Corrigan and will test it tonight. Ill post times later. I hope to do better than a 12.47 (3.54 rear). I tested it on the blacktop with no traction problems. It is noticeably quicker...lets see what the slips say......until tonight! Still jetted at 70/80 so the MPH will be a little lower than bigger jetting settings have given me..... Terry
-
Well its official, I just ran tonight again three times and ran: 12.54 111.3 1/8th 8.08 12.56 110.75 8.12 12.55 110.26 8.14 I down jetted from 74/80 to 70/80 I lost a bit on the MPH but same on 60 foot...maybe try 72/82 next time out... 60s were 1.90-1.92 launching at 1800 RPMS on 2800 stall ,,must get 3500 stall convertor... It felt good to go 12.5s again. The victor is just too much for the ole 350..just have to wait for the 383 to put it on.... 411s track test next in July.....more tech info to come...I hope some one can use this info for thier build..... BTW I beat up a Z28 12.55 to 13.1, a vette and some ricer...3 and 0 tonight... total around 18 wins 3 losses to a trailer queen 68 camaro 12.56 to a 11.5, Z28 with a 200 shot 12.49 to a 12.00, and the best race to a build mustang with a 351 Cleveland 12.47 to a 12.43. Lots of fun.... We are at about 2200 feet with dry air...can any tell me what we should run at sea level and 60% humidy??? Grumpy?? Terry

Mas280, nice pic. Did you take off your front sway bar connections? I know some do it that have traction problems and it helps. I dont have any traction problems at the track. It may be different after the stroker upgrade but ZFAN isnt having any traction probs either....just have to wait and see I guess.... Hot Rice dont know where all that camefrom but welcome to the board never the less. 1 post turns into two etc....before long youll be a vetern of Hybridz....lets us know if you need anything that we can help with....now get out there and whip some butt... Im off tomorrow so Im changing the plugs and down jetting some....Man this is turning out to be a long post... Thanks for everyones help.. If you look at my pic below you can see it launches well and the the front wants to rise. Mike, what plugs are you running and what gap? Some of my fuel woes may be plug related..I.E. the cutting out and power loss etc.. I expect we can use the same plugs..mine are the longer base plugs that go deeper into the plug hole. Please advise. Terry -
1/4 MILE RESULTS WITH THE VICTOR JR...
Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Actually when I weighed my car It was 2540, but that was with the iron heads, metal radiator, water pump, stock tank and lines etc, and stock rims and tires. I also had HEAVY 40 pound recaro seats which I have traded out for 20 pounders. All the rest has been replaced with aluminum. So its just an estimate but it surely doesnt weigh much more than 2400 or so... Head weight saving 60 lbs Radiator 10 lbs Fuel cell etc 15 lbs Seats 40 lbs Water pump 10 lbs Rims 25 lbs Interior took out 5 pounds Aircon unit inside 55lbs Total 215 lbs 2540-215 = 2320 est... I havent figured the difference from the rear disk swap or front disk swap and roll cage.... Cage is maybe 35lbs plus the difference with the brake upgrade and CVs.. 2400 plus change? Terry -
1/4 MILE RESULTS WITH THE VICTOR JR...
Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Yes I manually shift....both of my tires get traction off the line without problems. I often fish tail if I hit it in second changing lanes so no problem there. My intake is a match ported AFR dual plane so I think that is OK. I really suspect the tranny because it is starting to slip alot ans smell like a burning clutch... One thing at a time I guess. I will now need to get that Rature 700R4 stage three put in before long...boo Terry -
1/4 MILE RESULTS WITH THE VICTOR JR...
Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Mike, I was just curious. Im trying to figure out why my times seem a little low. I do still have that tranny that seems to wanna glide into gear instead of shifting hard. You can here on the clip I posted earlier. I guess I may be losing a couple of tenths from the tranny not shifting hard. I remember you had the same problem before. Was there any differences time wise after you fixed the tranny? Im just trouble shooting...man i cant wait to get this tranny changed out....BTW Im about 190 or so myself.... Terry -
Wholly crap Dan!!!! I just seen your car painted for the first time. That is one on the best looking Zs Ive seen. Great job! When you want to sell let me know... Care to share some pics? CorZette

Mike, isnt your 71Z about 300 lbs lighter than my 73? Do you remember what you were running with the 350 and the 276 cam? Terry -

Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Pyro, ugh...I dont have a 383 yet, just a 350. Im running 12.4s at 112 with the dual plane. Im running an AFR dual plane match ported to the AFR 190 heads, block huggers and 750DP. The single plane slowed me down by 3 tenths but kept the same MPH. maybe you have me mixed up with someone else. CZ -

Scotty I agree. Im gonna wait and go again and try the 411s with the single plane etc. You have run bigger tires before...will 28 inch tires fit in the wells? (275 60 15s?)? -
1/4 MILE RESULTS WITH THE VICTOR JR...
Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Kevin, thanks for the info. Well Ill keep my 411s but I may go to the Nitto 275 60 15s vice the 50s. Question is will they fit? I have and inch and a half clearance now with the inner fender still there. I can cut it out as well to make more room if needed. This tire is 27.99. That would yield me a 121 MPH potential I believe. I currently dont have the power to exceed that so it would give me alot of growing room and great launches would it not? The stroker will go in later this year probably when it gets a little cooler however..... Terry -
1/4 MILE RESULTS WITH THE VICTOR JR...
Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
My cam is from 2200-5800 RPMS Peak ocurring at 6100 and torque at 4500. My rear is currently 354 but have 411s coming. My tranny is a 700R4. My stall is 2800 but only can go to about 1900 before the tires slip. My dual is rated to 6000 RPM however. Even with the 411s I wont exceed 6000 in third. I now run the traps at about 5200 or so at 111. My tires are right at 26 inches. Nitto 275 50 15s. I shift at 6000 RPMS. Terry -
Well not good. I had the same MPH about as with the DUAL PLANE but lost 3/10ths due to the dog off the line comparitively. My average MPH gain from the 1/8th to the 1/4 was about 25MPH gain with the single plane vs 23 MPH gain with the dual plane. However, the loss of power from the line ate that right up. I was running 2.04s and 2.07s off the line....unsat! I do have the 3.54 rear still in though. Surely the 411s will make a difference. Im thinking about putting the dual plane back in. 12.4s are much more acceptable once you have already been there. The wierd thing is I never lost one single race. I beat uo an old school camaro 68 or 69 that was a little built. A bug with wheelie bars and pretty damn fast and several mustangs. I have the clips if someone wants to see them... I guess the 383 makes better use of the Victor Jr. At least in my case it was not a good swap. 411s may be a different story. I will know next month as I have a 411 R200 coming.....Comments anyone??? Terry

VIDEO CLIP OF CORZETTE IN A 12.47 at 112.4 PASS VS a 13.43
Corzette replied to Corzette's topic in Non Tech Board
ZFAN, Ill be running again Friday to test the Victor Jr. I suspect a loss off the line with my 354 rear. However the good news is I bought a 411 rear R200 and will have it in for next month. I should be able to break 11s with good traction I hope. The final deal will be the 383 kit. So how is the tire thing coming Mike...I want to hear about those tens!!! Terry -
I see another potential problem of which I experienced as well. First your fuel pressure is set too high in my opinion. Holleys like between 3 and 7 PSI but mine would over flow the bowls and cause the engine to run like crap then die. Afterwards it would take alot of time to get it started again. I run a 750DP and it likes about 5.5 to no more than 6 PSI. Back your pressure down....that could also be making your plugs wet. After backing your pressure down to 6 PSI, make sure to reset your idle mixture screws in front. Also, I would think that a good starting jetting for that 383 would be 72s or so in front....Ive been there in your situation...try it and see..... Corzette
