Good job but looks like you had some serious wheel spin out of the hole....fix that and you can run mid to low 12s!!!

Ok I guess everyone knows that I stupidly took out my XR282HR cam and put in a XR270HR before I ran the car....ZFAN was right...ALWAYS run your car before doing anything drastic. Well the 270 cam with my setup puts out about 50 to 60 less HP and I ran the quarter in 12.4 at 110.86. 5 runs yielded all 12.4 to 5 range at the same speed. 7.99 in the 8th at 87MPH. I didnt get beat by anyone! I also beat two C5 corvettes and one with an L06 in it. Wonderful night at the track. I beat up a Mustang Cobra and New black TransAm. Everyone was tripping on my car and I think I made about 50 news friends. So with that said I am sure I should be in the elevens once I put my XR282 back in.....Damn thats gonna take about 5 hours. Im going again next Friday to test the bigger cam. This is fun stuff. By the way the GTech said I was running 13.4s so its a whole second off!!!! ZFAN what jets are you running in your carb and what carb? I started with 72/80 on a Holley 750DP and Proform main body....Im sure Ill need to jet it up for the bigger cam right?? Terry

Terry, where is your regulator located? Do these things have diaphrams in them rthat are sensitive to heat? All this happens when the car get hot as well... should I take out the foam? Does this matter greatly otherwise? Terry

Terry, Im having some wierd problems with my fuel delivery. Im running an Aluminum 10 Gallon cell with a 1/2 inch braided hose to the pump and out the pump into a PAXTON filer then 1/2 inch all the way to the front through a regulator and then into the carbs. Im running the Holley black. Well when I start it everything is fine and then about 5 minutes the pressure drops drops drops until its on ZERO. I cut off the car and can hear bubbling in the tank, the pump is almost silent etc... Afetr it sits for awhile its goes back to normal. I do have foam in the tank but the air line works fine and the gas comes out ok etc....What in the world could this problem be...i am ready to throw away the whole car....any suggestions????? OK cam has been changed....previously I was running 0-60 in 5.3 sec...with the old cam. After the install of the new without tuning I went 5.13. I had my timing advanced. The engine didnt like it so I started retarding it little by little. I went 5.00 after two runs. Still will retard more and check. So the timing is near. I used a GTEc for the tuning. The next thing I did was pull the plugs. They were a little wet so I gapped them from .45 to .38 and ran again. 4.85!!!! consistently. It still smells rich so Iw ill start down jetting the secondaries next weekend and go from there. man this GTec is a good tuning tool. Im still getting good traction but the RPMS go up much faster now. I figure a 4.5 or 6 is in the works with proper jetting. Will let all know later. The car pulls real hard and feels good. Traction is good...should be in the 12s for now. 383 coming with Rapture 700R4... does anyone know anything about http://www.bassassengines.com? Over rated??? Terry

Pyro, I already have an LSD. It always leaves two black lines and will fish tail at will...I have some examples on my site...I just need to hook up and want to make sure the money is well spent

Kevin, your right. The tranny gears, diff and stall was not totally matched for what I was looking for. I had two choices. change my diff amd torque converter, or change the cam to more properly match what I have. I didnt have the bucks to do the first choice so I hope I will see the difference Im looking for this way. Terry

Thanks for the input guys....Mike I envy you....I want a 383. However I am running 3"54 rear and 700R4 with 2800 stall. I need to get the BFgoodrich drag radials I guess. Im running 275 50 15 Nittos at the moment. I got the engine torn down today. Im waiting on the cam to come in. I hope to have it put together by Sunday....what a pain. Finally our track will open in May. Mike I may finally get to run it. Im looking to start another project so trying to decide 383 or 406. I suppose the 383 is the right choice for better support etc... Terry

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I needed a little more launch power and the previous cam was too big...XR282HR....this should work just fine, I was still running a 5 sec 0-60 with a sluggish launch. This should put me well in the 4s....ZFAN I am struggling...lol Thanks for the compliments guys...more updates soon. I put on a bre rear spoilers that compliments her well... Terry

Stay away from the Holley Blue...damn second one in a year. I just order a Black from Ebay for 89 bucks to include shipping! I hope it works better. CZ

Well according to my dyno numbers I should be in the 11s but I guess I have gotten used to the power . at anyrate if he was running low 13s I guess the ole Zette will be somewhere in the 11s or low 12s anyways....

Probably what ever the stock 2003 EVO can run just for an idea. I read that it was around 13.5 or so....

Well I still havent stinkin got a chance to run the Z down the strip. However, last night I met a group that went a little out of town on a farm road and made a couple of runs. I asked who the fastest guy was in this group and it was a 2003 Mitsubishi EVO Turbo AWD. So we lined up for a little less than an 1/8th mile. Another guy started us. I had a good launch and 3/4 thru first gear this EVO was dead even, I hear his blow off valve go PSSSST as he shifted to second (manual I suspect). At that point when I hit second gear 700R4 I instantly pulled about a car length on him and then proceeded to make ground. I got into the very top of third and it was over. I won by about 4 car lengths in about 800 feet or so. My question is WHAT DO THE EVOs run in the quarter? I am trying to gauge off of that. I know it would have been many more car lengths if we raced a 1/4 but Im still happy never the less. Lets just say that CorZette is now known by at least 100 people here in town after last night. They kept saying, THAT IS A FAST ASS NISSAN....everyone was cool...anyone know what the EVOs times are???? Thanks in advance

Get the Polymer gear and youll have no probs. Mine works great and I chewed up a gear in the past. 1 year now and no wear....a little spendy but worth the cost...Looks and feels like plastic though...scary but works...

Hey Mike! Damn, worse, sand storm advisory. It was raining all day Saturday then windy as hell so we didnt make it. man it sucks to have WALL raceway shut down here in San Angelo, its 10 miles away. Lubbock is open again on the coming Sunday. I will try again. My 750DP went caput on me. I ordered a new 650DP yesterday. I wanted to try the next step down to get better A/F mixture. man was this thing rich...it made my eyes water. Hopefully the 650 will work out better. More to come. One of these days we all have to meet at Ennis to hang out and race etc...thanks for inquiring. Terry
