  1. My dad used to have one of those, and yes they look exactly as he described.
  2. It is alot easier to remove the pan when the motor is on an engine stand, and even then it seems to be bonded to the block, had to pry it of evenly going around the motor. So I guess you in for a billet oil pan huh? John
  3. I second that, that car needs alot of work and Im sure some parts are hard to find for it. count me out.
  4. good for you, what was the problem? so does that mean that the rotary z is going to be done soon?
  5. So lets say I want to get a set a couple months from now, will he still be selling at the same prices, wish I had the money for it now, but its all been spent on other much needed parts. John
  6. I have a book called 101 uses for a dead cat. Pretty funny stuff in there.
  7. I wouldnt sell it to them, tell the mom this car is capable of 160mph + and is as fast as a ferrari, if she doesnt believe it take her for a ride. She will definitely not want to buy it for him, hell my mom knows Im into cars and she still wouldnt want me to have it, but hey If I cant buy one Ill build one.
  8. So I pull up to the light and theres this civic sitting on 20 inch jackstands, he starts reving the piss out of his voice box, I just look at him the light turns green I make the sound of a turbod inline six shift to second pssshhht, bov, then to third pssshhht hes gone I can barely see him in my rearview mirror. Another good kill, all on jackstands.
  9. Not much, this thing rides haaaard, makes me think somethings wrong with it.
  10. Exactly what I was thinking, pretty neat actually.
  11. I thought for Sure I was gonna get some type of fine, but I didnt get any thing except a warning from the firemen to not do it anymore.
  12. Thats what I thought too. Until I saw the six fire trucks on the street. Wish I had pics but I dont have a camera. It was kinda embarassing, kinda confused me too I was like all this from just a burnout. I think the fire men were a bit dazed and confused too, I mean they thought all that smoke was from a fire not the tires on some guys caddy, lol. John
  13. No problem Mat, that would be sweet if they were the nismo shocks.
  14. I agree too, If you dont do the work on your car you dont deserve the trophy besides I like the fact that I can say I built my car, not that soemone else did. He's got my vote. John
  15. Pics thanks to Mat73gnz, thanks alot man. dash of my dads velo rossa my turbo motor (only 70k miles) my dads velo rossa the rear of the velo rossa my 76's engine bay, motor is out now, prepping engine bay for paint. In the last pic you can kinda see my dads 78'. Right now I have my whole front suspension disasembled and am in the process of painting hope you guys like. Thanks again Mat. John
  16. So, my dad has this 75' caddy with the 500. And we decide to see how smokey of a burnout it can do. So I put my foot on the brake and lean into the gas, all four barrels are open on the carb, smoke billows out the wheel wells. I repeat this process two more times. I shut the car down, and then I hear sirens coming my way. This was behind my dads shop on private property so it wasnt illegal. Turns out to be the fire dept, they could see the smoke from the station!!! About six trucks and 30 firemen arrived at the seen, all were easy going after I explained and a few laughed. So we decided that the caddy is unrivaled at burnouts and decide to call it day. Man I new when I heard those sirens they were commin for me lol John
  17. Funny I saw this. My dad has a 75' caddy with the 500 in it. We've done a couple burnouts but not any real big ones. So my dad says lets see how smokey this thing can make it back here, so I hold the brake and let it open the tires start to spin and all four barrells kick in on the carb. So I repeat this process another two times. I stop go to park the car and I hear sirens, mind you this was behind my dads shop on pavement were nobody could see us. So these sirens are comming my way. turns out to be the fire dept. guess I know the answer to my dads question "smokey enough to alert the fire dept". Six fire trucks in total about 30 fire men, guys were pretty easy going about it, guess I wont be trying that again. So to say the least those caddy motors have some serious power!
  18. Reminds me of a guy I see driving around here. Has a 90' something honda civic two door, the rear end is crumpled in about 1.5 feet, guys still driving it tho, suprised the 5-oh dont say some thing about it
  19. I like the tail panel too, did the same exact thing to my car. Except my cars still in primer, not for long . Beatiful car. The paint looks pretty smooth you do a wetsand and buff on it?
  20. Could be hidden damage on the frame rails. Here in wisconsin they can issue junk titles on cars, this means they can only be used for parts. Ive seen so many nice cars go through with junk titles, very little damage too.
  21. I agree with Drax, on this type of thing. If the car succeeds at what it was built for it gives the owner satisfaction no matter what it was built for. I look at some peoples cars and see them built on junkyard parts, and give them compliments because the car succeded at what it was built for. Others like Tims car deserve credit because he built it to hone his body working skills and it most certainly looks good, and I'm sure that gives him satisfaction right there. Just my .02 , John
