Yes, 12 gauge leads are being used for the power and ground leads and this will all be relatively close to the battery (under the passenger dash-area).

Megasquirt fan control using the fast idle relay on relay board
jacob80 replied to jacob80's topic in MegaSquirt
So in dummy terms, yes, I can run a signal wire from the Fidle port to my relay to switch on my high current fan? Sounds great! What is "power-On Value" and "Trigger Value?" -
Well, hopefully you guys think its okay because I will be implementing this component today. If you have any input, let me know. Thanks!!

Thats plenty fast for me. Hell, the way it is now even scares me in some ways, but I would like more power. My goal here is to get 350hp at the wheels while keeping the stock cam and internals reliably. Luckily, I have a very good Megasquirt tuner (Scott Clark) locally that I can rely on. Additionally, I'm sure there are other components to this that could put me right at 350hp such as methanol spray. What are your thoughts? As far as the turbo, like I said (from what you've said), I'll be installing the Nissan Turbine wheel and housing (assuming the Turbonetics housing isn't the same) which matches the stock Nissan Cam much better. I would also like do some manifold porting and port matching to move more air.

Megasquirt fan control using the fast idle relay on relay board
jacob80 replied to jacob80's topic in MegaSquirt
Matt, let me know if I'm able to run a line directly from my Fidle port on my relay board to switch on my external relay and how I go about doing so. Thanks man! -
At this point, I'm not going to get heavy into upping my cam and turbine wheel, so maybe I'll just stick with the stock NIssan Turbine wheel on my (hopefully) T04E. I would like to run high 11's. I weighed my car at 2450 lbs with me in it.

My goal 350hp for this setup, and I would like to do this with the stock cam. It is an '83 L28ET rebuilt with stock components. Is this possible, or am I looking at some serious head/manifold porting to acquire these numbers? Unfortunately, my adapter I have just purchased only allows for a 2.5" down pipe, but the rest will be 3"
-
Thats what I was thinking as far as the cam. So in other words, if I choose to stick with the stock cam, you would recommend using the stock Nissan T3 turbine wheel, or the whole turbine housing and wheel assembly? I was told it is a 50 trim, also. Forgot to mention that.

MS1 PCB 3.0 MSnS-E 029y4 I believe. -
Hey guys, I just picked up a Turbonetics T3/T4 but I can't decipher whether its a T04B or T04E. I have a 2.5" inlet and a 2" outlet. If you need any more information off the turbo, just holler. I don't see any A/R stamping either. I'm really praying that it is a T04E. For reference, I'm looking to make a reliable 350hp. I am running the stock cam and exhaust manifold and will be utilizing an internal wastegate witha 2.5" down pipe going to a 3" exhaust after that. Are these numbers possible? I've read numerous things about stage X Y and Z wheels, compressor housings, etc etc. Would a straight bolt on application not be recommended here? Thanks guys!

What is the issue? If you're not gun-ho about performance and potential future upgrades, fix the stock EFI issue yourself. Could you desribe the problem? I find it hard to believe that an electrical issue could cost $1000. If it really did, its nothing you can't repair yourself.

Hey guys, Well, I have fabricated a common source for all my power and ground leads to come to. Here it is: What do you guys think? The fuse block on the left with the two relays is the switched power source. Right below that fuse block are the circuit breakers for each power bank (two 30 amp relays). To the right of my switched source is my 12v constant. Each circuit will support 30 amps in current. Directly below the constant source is my terminal strips which will be used to ground various components, all EFI related. The two strips, are broken into two pairs of three grounding sources. Each bank will have its own ground lead directly from the battery. This will allow me to ground different high-noise components separate from small signal devices (ex: fuel pump will be on a different bank than the dizzy signal wire and megasquirt). To the left of the terminal strips are my two relays; one for my electric fan and one for my starter. My primary goal for this contraption is to simplify troubleshooting and ensure reliable power leads and grounds. Let me know if you guys think there may be any issues with this setup that I could correct. Thanks guys!

Megasquirt fan control using the fast idle relay on relay board
jacob80 replied to jacob80's topic in MegaSquirt
Found this: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/82336-fan-control-ms2/ Looks like pin 30/PM2 will control the fan without any modification. Does this translate to the fidle port on the relay board? Do i simply run a wire from this output to my external relay? Of course, it will only be the signal wire for my external relay, not primary power. -
Megasquirt fan control using the fast idle relay on relay board

Can't seem to find it. I did find this: http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/common_megasquirt_modifications.htm But for some reason, i just can't follow what they're saying. Can you help me out zmanco? Perhaps put it in dummy terms? -
I say find a Nissan 4 or 5 speed until you really start throwing down some serious power. I don't see the purpose of dumping all that money into that transmission unless you really are beating the hell out of your car. I'm running my stock 4 speed and it's holding up great behind my L28et. I do plan on going to a z32 in the future, but until I'm putting down ~400 hp or thereabouts, I don't see the purpose honestly.

What resistance to use with low impedance injectors?
jacob80 replied to Zmanco's topic in MegaSquirt
I'm also having an issue with the car leaning out at idle once its warmed up. Perhaps our issues are very similar if not the same. I too am running low impedance injectors but am using the built in fly back board in the ECU. I'll be watching this thread closely. Good luck! -
Hey guys, Well I'm at the point where I'm trying to decide where to run all my wiring and mount my fuse blocks and do it professionally. I'd just like to see what you guys have done. Go ahead and post your best photos of your wiring here! Thanks!

I suppose, but man you've put a lot of work into this car! I don't know that I'll EVER be able to sell my Z, only because I've put way too many man hours into it and I'll never get out of it what I've put into it. I'm sure that holds true in many cases, but man, you've got it all hooked up like you want!
-
I'm assuming you mean secure it as in tie it down along the channel? I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking it would be hard to access it as well if I ever wanted to add/remove circuits. Any other opinions or alternatives? I'm going for a minimalistic look. Thanks!
-
Weren't you just selling this car in the for sale section?
-
Perhaps I'm not explaining it well: I'm considering running my fuel injection harness down the passages that were previously used for the cabin vents, on both the driver and passenger sides. Is this a goo idea, or bad?

Hey guys, I am working on putting together a Turbo 240z and have some questions concerning my fuel setup. 1. I plan on converting the stock tank to EFI standards via installing an ATL black box. Along with this, we want to expand the volume of the tank by installing ~1" band all the way around. Is this a bad idea? This car is going to be going across the country and capacity is important. 2. Right now, we can only fill our gas tank up 1/2 way full but we are not running an expansion tank as we don't have one. Is this vital to vent the gas tank properly, or is there an alternative? The car came without the expansion tank, not sure why. Thanks guys!!

Woah woah woah, are you sayin gyou're going to pull the whole engine out to change the oil pan and clutch? If so, I've changed my oil pan gasket three times and I've done the clutch and completely removed the front crossmember and suspension all while the engine was in the car. I wouldn't recommend removing it. As for the power, check your turbo piping and make sure there are no boost leaks. Also, check all vacuum ports and obvious things like that. Its a very good sign that your plugs are golden brown. Oil level isn't going to effect your performance, it may seize your engine to not have enough oil/none at all, but wouldn't dog your engine. Also, check to make sure your waste gate isn't stuck open, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Good luck!

Hey guys, What are your opinions on me running my EFI wiring through the channels that supply air to the vents in the interior? I like that it appears it's sealed and it runs back into the cabin to clean wiring up. Thanks guys!
