1. I bolted on a plate of steel on my rear pan for safety and also to circumvent the law in CA. which requires bumpers but is none too specific about what constitutes a bumper. I've never had a legal issue with it and I've also backed into a pole with minimal damage and been rear ended at low speed also with minimal damage.
2. Be careful if you chop because the stuff that is in those tubes caught on fire when I chopped mine. I chopped 'cause I didn't know any better but then it worked out for the best because I used the remaining bolted in part as a base for my homemade rear pan bar system.
3. I have a set on EBay right now. They are as good as you will find used...
4. I just put one up to a local guy. (see 240 z parts wanted thread below) If he doesn't want it and you don't mind shipping from SoCal it's yours...
5. I just scored a clean one today. It is straight, good chrome, treatable rubber, and the only rust is on the inside and it is treatable surface rust. I'll drive and deliver this to you for $175.00. I have marker lights too if that other inquiry falls through...
6. Cowl and radiator to hood seals. Didn't know the picture was that blurry...
7. ON OFF They're in the grill area, not in the grill;flush with the body.
8. Does Dr. Rockzo drive a Z? K-k-k-k-k- yeah!!
9. This has been in my bookcase for years and I just pulled it out today for no apparent reason. $10.00 shipped
10. On ebay there is that guy in Rancho Cucamunga,Ca who always has rebuilds for sale. Sometimes just blocks but mostly whole engines in many different configurations. Good luck!
11. None taken bro, incidentally the new ones that 1 Tuff Z was selling were only priced that low because of a mistake from the manufacturer. I believe the mistake has since been rectified and they are comparably priced to other Z parts stores.
12. "I had some guy try to sell me a used part for 5 dollars cheaper than the cost for a new part and threw a hissing when I didn't buy (?)." I think that was me. haha. Different state of mind. I am not sure it came off like hissing because as it says in the forum rules " typed text has no intonation or expression." Incidentally I sell alot of those used rear hatch seals on ebay and have never had a complaint. Dropped the price though!! That's besides the point though I have seen on mine and other buying AND selling posts, members with O posts either totally interested in the part or if they are selling they have something OEM JDM and are in coincidental geographic proximity to the person requesting said goods. Who knows? Ah heck, it's the internet...
13. I had an s-30 used hood in my garage. It was the one without vents. When I bumped my passenger door for sale, I mentioned I had a hood. A guy wanted the hood and offered to trade his vented hood (without vents natch) in addition to giving me the money I wanted. At first I was going to pass 'cause body parts can be hard to sell but then I had a change of heart and said okay. Two weeks ago the guy came up to get the hood; real good guy. We took his hood off, put mine on, and I gave him a door handle and passenger windshield wiper assembly that I had laying around, both that he needed. So then I had this real straight hood but with the two ventless holes. I thought let's see what I can make. I went to a metal supply in Oxnard and they gave me a little scrap of perforated steel. I cut them in the shape of vents, mounted them on the hood, and taped a 300zx hood badge on the hood as well. So now I had a "custom hood" I thought this looks cool let's see if I can sell it, not expecting anything. Lo and behold another gentleman saw the hood and we made a time to meet, he bought the hood bada bing and he handed me a crisp C-note. Here's where it gets fun; my wife was going away for a few hours with the baby, I have some free money, so the first thought that pops into my head is "CASINO". Three hours later I walk out with $1800 tax free dollars, and I do the right thing; $1000.00 into a bond for the new baby. Not a bad profit at all.
14. ...or does there seem to be a number of people on this website, who are new with zero posts to their credit, who are all gung ho about buying parts, but once they get pictures they disappear?
15. I have a ballast resistor off of a 1975 280z. Don't know if they're the same.
16. Here is my upgrade and why it belongs on this page: #1: Fuse block uses AGU fuses which are cheaper than Maxifuses or Breakers. #2: Fuse block was purchased on Ebay for $11.00 which is less than 1/2 of retail. I followed the instructions in the "AtlanticZ" link in the fusible link post that if you search for you will find. Just be careful, in my Z all the wiring was white with red stripe, real easy to get confused.
17. Thanks. I have a gallery under my user name in the "Members Gallery" photo section.
18. My whole car is done in this including the trim. It sticks better than urethane paint. But had I been doing better research, I would have done the whole car in SEM Rust Shield. Now there's a tough paint...
19. If you don't like what you make and want some hood vent scoops I will sell you my fiberglass ones. I am either getting the carbon fiber or putting on the ones I just made... Here they are as they sit on my vehicle...
20. As the owner of a 90% blacked out car, it just gets my goat that some tiny toon would come up with as lame a sounding name as "murdered out" for the style trend. It kind of sucks the inherent coolness out of it and soon the style will be last years news kind of like spinners or coffee can exhaust tips. When some gangsta wannabe asks me if my car is "murdered out" I am going to reply, "No, it's 'tarded out" 'cause I'm a retard who doesn't know any better." Geeze, I'm getting old...
