  1. So your rears are preloaded to full extension and it still rides ok? I was worried about that because if mine wont be all the way they will probably be close.
  2. Even with konis and the TTT setup, i had to put the 280z insulator on it, because with the 240 one, I couldn't get the car high enough. If i extended the body line near the bottom of the door back with a straight edge, it would be all the way under the center cap of the rear wheel.
  3. That 3.90 may be a little low though (for just a cruiser).
  4. Check height of arms from floor before you purchase. On the lift I use I had to jack up the front of my Sunbeam to get the arms under and they just clear the Z lowered (but ride height not set yet) and no interior, or front cap installed with bad dog frame rails. once all the weight is back on the car it may be really close to needing to jack it.
  5. They put in slaloms along the straights to help keep the speeds down to try to prevent that.
  6. I think thats solo1? they do it here very rarely where its a lap of the road course. Of course when they do it im never able to make it, but looks awesome, great video.
  7. Unrelated but sort of related, in one of the plants I worked in, someone drove right out the gate with 2 huge sullair trailer compressor/generators. The plant was renting them. They needed the 2nd one in a pinch so the rental company bought a new one and had it delivered right out to the plant, without putting the lojack they usually put on their equipment. Of course they found the 1st one on a Tuesday. It was stolen the previous Thursday. In that time, it was sold 3 times, and everyone had a receipt from who they bought it from, right back to the guy who stole it. He gave a receipt to the person he sold it to with his name and address. Of course when they asked him about the 2nd one that they couldn't find, he said he had no clue, that he only stole one. People are stupid and suck.
  8. What I noticed while on the subway there is that people aren't very helpful. At almost every stop some girl getting on would end up with her purse stuck on the outside of the door with the strap still around her arm while she was on the inside. I was by the door so I would try to help pry the door open enough for them to get unstuck. Everyone else would just stand there and look at them, except one guy who was helping. I didn't say a word the whole time since I speak no French, but finally the other guy did, and turns out he was American,so I finally had someone to talk to during the ride.
  9. A friend of mine has a nice work table like that in his garage, and the coolest thing (at least what I think) is he found one of those wheelchair cranes at a salvage store and modified it and bolted it to the table. Now he has an electric crane that can lift a few hundred pounds up onto the table, and I think he got it for like $45.
  10. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=131229130042 This mould is close. The back edge doesn't line up quite as good.
  11. The alternator light would have to be a light bulb so it can see a load If not you would have to put a resistor there so the exciter wire can see a load. i can't remember the value but I think 270?
  12. Its almost like a cross between the subtle z one and this one http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kamikazeracing.org%2Frbz%2FIMG_2167.JPG&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pro-touring.com%2Fthreads%2F82024-PT-datsun-240z&h=490&w=653&tbnid=e01m3vRJC1XjjM%3A&zoom=1&docid=TZ82HqDfv9BljM&ei=OFGuU92LE4elqAazp4DABA&tbm=isch&client=firefox-a&ved=0CEsQMyhDMEM4yAE&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=4109&page=24&start=266&ndsp=12
  13. Thanks, its close but no cigar. The subtleties are what makes that one look so good. The bottom lip + following the angle of the bumper and hood when viewed from above + it sloping the same way as the grill when viewed from the side make it totally match the car. In my opinion none of the other ones look quite right. I've scoured the internet a few times looking for this one with no luck. I can't even remember where I found this picture at, it's been my desktop since I started building my Z. The search continues..,,
  14. I saw a similar one to this on ebay a while back, except it had scoops that were way too wide to the outside, pretty much in front of the tires. It was pointed in the front like this to follow the same shape as the hood. This is my favorite one I have seen so far, but haven't been able to find it anywhere.
  15. OK, anyone know what this one is?
  16. Yeah always fun to watch. I wonder how many pigeons were harmed in the making of this video? Maybe there is a better quality one out there.
  17. In case anyone hasnt seen the original. https://vimeo.com/86448242
  18. In my opinion that's a tough call. If you want to "keep it forever" then strip it all the way down, fix the rust and start fresh. Zs have lots of rust hiding under undercoating, sound insulation, etc that are going to just keep rusting unless they are dealt with. On mine I blasted the bottom, engine bay and frame horns behind the fenders. Amazing how much shows up after you blast it. You wouldn't want to do all this work to a car, assuming you're going all out, to later have to pull it all apart to fix rust and put it all back together again. The other side if the sword is just take the easy way, patch what's noticeable, drive it, have fun with it for a few years and flog it in. You lose less money that way and its less work to do. You just need to be realistic about your goals of this car, whether you want it to be short or long term. Nothing wrong with whatever route you choose.
  19. I used the lizard skin but my car still isnt running yet so I cant comment on the durability. After my friend cut his rear flares, he brushed on the lizard skin sound under his fenders and inside the rear inner fenders and he said it made enough difference in the sound level to notice from just those areas.
  20. Is that the victory spoiler? can you post a photo of it from the side view pretty please?
  21. Those came out really good. About how much time do you think you have in them?
  22. I found all of that stuff, I'm having trouble finding door panel upholstery
