  1. AHH I see, thanks guys! no I didnt even think about getting in..
  2. Hey everyone, Since the Z has been down and now back on the road, a buddy of mine had some scales and I thought it would be neat to see the weight and foot print. But I am not sure what it all means.. My Z is a 77 280Z with a L28ET motor, full stainless 3" exhaust, Tokico springs and illuminas with upgraded front sway bar and the vented Toyota S12-W calipers. Wheels are 17x9 front and 17x9.5 rear Rota RBRs. I am not sure what the Left means? it is at 48.99%.. Does this mean that right would be 52.1%? Rear is at 50.03%. Does this mean it is a 50/50 weight distribution? Cross is 48.28%. I am not really sure what that means? Finally Bite is -73.. I really do not know what that means? If any of you guys are out there and familiar with corner scales some info would be great.. I will also be doing some research on it. Thanks!
  3. The HID's are ok. The lenses are awesome!. They have great cut off and do not scatter the light at all.
  4. getting closer and closer, I had replace the drivers Toyota S12W caliper as it was dragging. I relocated the Wideband to the down pipe and ran the wires through the firewall. I also had some issues with my HID balist.. It ended up being a Relay issue. I had a problem with the replacement caliper. It would hit the rotor when bolted in.. I ended up having to order Shims from Mcmastercar.. I was able to get .5mm shims and that fixed teh spacing of the calipers. Pic showing after I bolted it up before spacing it out.
  5. I ordered shims from Mcmastercar.. I ordered .3mm thick shims.. ID12mm and OD 18mm. I ended up using 2 on each mounting tab.. So .5mm would have been perfect.. Now the caliper sits dead in the middle and the brake is together with pads.. Plus they overnight-ed them which was a surprise. Thanks for the link JohnC!! As for how to tell if they were recasts I really dont know.. My guess is that my original ones were not recasts and the one I got was.
  6. JohnC, do you know where I could locate the shims/washers thin enough.. I will need something in the size of .5 to 1mm.. The thinnest I could find around the house is 1.5mm and they were just a little too thick.
  7. Yeah, I am taking it back tonight.. It was from Autozone,, so (Duralast).. I am going to get the one from Oreillys today .. I think it is either Bindix or Best Brake brand.. I am sure I could shim it but I would rather not have to do that.
  8. Hello, I did the S12W caliper and brake upgrade about 6 years ago.. Well my Drivers side caliper started sticking.. I tried taking the pins out and using antiseze but it did not solve the issue. I went to autozone and bought a 88 Toyota 4 runner S12W caliper (PN C8465) and new pads. I bolted it on and here is what I found.. The rotor is actually making contact with the caliper. Did I get the wrong S12W caliper or is it a defect in the casting? You can see in the pic that the new caliper is pushed out and has way more spacing on the outside and touching on the inside. The old S12W caliper is evenly spaced at 1mm on each side. New caliper Old S12W caliper
  9. Couple of pics.. I have not cleaned it up yet or anything.
  10. Ok will do man.. The KA full trans swap will be up for sale in a few months probably. Today was a good day... After 2 years of sitting, I put her all back together and she cranked. Only let her run for about 2 minutes because of the old fuel.. I drained the tank and will put fresh fuel in tomorrow. I have a bunch of loose ends to tie up but it really does feel good to hear her purr.
  11. Copy and paste the link below zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/240SX5spd/transmission.htm
  12. Yeah there is a really good write up.. I really am thinking about selling my complete drop in setup though to switch over to Z32 trans.. Let me know if you are interested. Here is the write up for the KA swap. This write up is for a 240Z so the trans mount is different.. I had to modify my stock 5spd Nissan trans mount to work. Copy and paste the link below zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/240SX5spd/transmission.htm
  13. New KA trans is in !!!!! Fluids filled and drive shaft bolted up.. Now onto bolting up the exhaust, and putting all my stuff together in the engine bay!!!
  14. I like it a lot better, I make about 400 wheel and 400ish TQ.. it has taken the abuse over the last 5 years. The only reason it failed on me was because of the 280ZX countershaft bearing.. it was the original out of my ZX. I have a brand new nissan OEM countershaft bearing in the new KA trans now.. I should be putting it back in tonight.. I might be going Z32 trans pretty soon and the full KA swap with driveshaft and trans mount might be up for sale soon.
  15. Wow, it has been a loooooooooooooooong time since I have updated this thread... Well in 2011, I went back to school to finish up my BA degree.. In the middle of that, (2012ish) I broke the KA trans.. I didn't want to work on the Z and lose focus of school.. I finished school and my Z just sat for a pretty long while.. I lost motivation, Well I am motivated again and back working on the Z.. I found another KA trans and took my old one out and apart. I found the original 280ZX counter shaft bearing is what failed. I ordered a new counter shaft bearing and installed it on the KA trans and then swapped the bell housing.. While the Z was down, I replaced the leaky front main seal and wrapped the down pipe. I am installing a new boost gauge and soon will install a water temp gauge and oil temp gauge. I hope to be back on the road here soon and back in boost.
  16. I was able to get the correct bearing from Nissan as well.. The Nissan Part number is as follows. Nissan Part number is - 32219-E9020 It comes up as Bearing-Counter.
  17. I checked with my local Nissan Dealer, We ordered one that we think is it.. I will be comparing it when it comes in.. Thanks!!
  18. Hello, I have the KA 5 spd swap in my 77 280Zturbo and used the 280ZX countershaft bearing. The bearing failed and trashed the trans.. I have another KA FS5W71C trans that I am swapping in. I would like to run the 280ZX FS5W71B Front countershaft bearing so I do not have to get my 280ZX bell housing machined for the larger KA bearing. Does anyone know where to source the 280ZX countershaft bearing? It is 56mm OD and has 63/22x C3 stamped on it as well as Nachi. I saw Rock auto has some countershaft bearings but none of them seem to be the correct one.. I am looking for the front.
  19. That really sucks!!! Really Glad he is ok..
