Well I dont have the money for a set of 800 doller forged pistons right now nor the time to do that. I got a junkyard motor for a great price. I do have a spare L28T short block wich I plan on rebuilding. Thinking about chryoing the pistons for that one.. but this will be a ways away from now. Cody thanks for the suggestion but I just dont have the resources right now to do that.

Well at least now I KNOW! OH WELL.. JEESH.. guess you live and learn. I thought I was going to be boostin with a stroker.. At least I hope to be up and running this weekend with a junkyard turbo motor. I may be selling all of my stroker stuff. crank, block, rebuilt P90a head... Well guys after getting this stroker motor that is "suposedly built for turboing" actually turbocharged.. I am haveing tons of trouble with it. I am only running the stock 6psi of boost but pinging. Also I am blowing alot of oil out of my crank case pcv pipe. It smokes out of my PCV and valve covor tube at idle and driving. The past owner said that it was built with 8.2.1 compression. It has the 722 truck pistons. They were mechined down to make the compression. I am thinking that the rings could not hold it.. What do yall think?? I know all of the wireing is in and working great cuase it drives fine and does not break up under boost or anything. I just bought a spare L280T from J taylor and will be installing it this weekend. I will then pull my stroker apart to see whats up. So.. Glad to be boosting but MAD I cannot BOOST!!! .

Scottie, Yes I cannot wait to put some radials on her. I am converting to 5 lug soon and will be running the 16x8 conquest rims in the rear and 16x7s up front. I should be able to run some 245-45-16s out back then.. That should help. I have one question though. when first starting the Z when it is cold. It takes a good while before it will run right. I know I dont have the cold start stuff on anymore. but just seems like I have to blip the throttle for it to even run.. When it is warm.. it runs great..

I got her running last night!!!.. For anyone that is doing the turbo conversion.. The turbo Igniter is a must.. I installed it and VROOOOOM. It ran super rich from me playing with it for the last few days. That cleared up and seemed to run perfect. I took it up the road for a min and.. WOW.. 1st gear is pretty much useless. I need a LSD.. I was only running stock 6 psi of boost. but I just have the DP only on the car now and was actually running like 7psi. This is on my stroker motor 8.2.1 compression and there is like almost no lag what so ever. I am just SOOO happy. I want to thank all of you who helped me . Ok I got all of my turbo stuff on my Z. I have the wireing harness installed as well. At first I saw that I installed the turbo dizzy 180deg out. So I fixed that. The Z still will not run worth a crap. It will crank and sputter then die. Am I supposed to install the turbo igniter? I had a buddy tell me he had it installed on his Z. I also have a MSD 6AL too. I really dont know what else to do here. Any suggestions??

Well I finally got all the bits I needed and some time to get on the installation of my turbo on my 77 Stroker. I am hopeing to get all the wireing done and making it run this weekend.. Hey Even Gabe here From Mobile.. Ivans friend. Well J taylor on this site dynoed his Z at 388 RWHP with 370cc injectors. I think that was about maxing them out though. So I am thinking that 420s should do you fine for 400 RWHP. Are you going down with Garret and Ivan for the event? I met you at the montgomery event. I am actually about 80% done with turboing my Z.. Hey guys. Well I started my turbo conversion!!!! But I have some questions on some of the connectors that are in the stock turbo harness and how to wire them in. I looked at my service manual but it really doesnt color code the pinouts. If someone could either help me with the pinout of the connectors or explain how to integrate them in my 77 this would be most helpfull. I really would like to have my car turboed for the event!! Here are some pics with highlighted areas in question. Thanks in advance. Here are some close ups this one is the 2 connectors inside the firewall near the ECU connections. not sure what this one goes to if anything. I know this one has to do with fuel and maybe the fuseable link but dont know the pinout or how to wire it in. Thanks for any advice guys and cannot wait to see all of you at the event. Gabe

That is a hydrolic head. It is a p90a .. Also looking at one of the pics I can see that it has no retaining springs for the rocker arms. This also confirms it is a hydrolic head. It looks nice. I would find out what kind of cam he put in it as well as if he ported it and see if he put in new aftermarker springs and valves. Looks nice.. but again.. you just never know.. Good luck.

The one i was talking about was the one all the way to the right. It is tought to see how thick it is from the picture or withought ever seeing it in person. But seeing the bracket is straight and has the extra material on the side that makes more of a almost triangular design would seem to have more strength' date=' but like i said earlier it is tought to tell withought pictures. Is anyone here pushing more then 130PSI of fuel pressure? Anyways this is some great information.. good posting guys..

Sounds like it is going to be a great Z31. I would love to see it. hmmm ... Like in MARCH when we have the south east Z meet over in reynolds GA. That seems like a very resonable price for all you are getting also. Good luck with it... Also take a bunch of pics and VIDS!!..

Looks abit small.. Hope it is effecient for the size.. Might turn out to be a interheater instead of a intercooler..
