  1. Thats terrible to hear! Good luck on finding something new. I was laid off in January and am still looking myself....... Greg
  2. How often does the foam need to be replaced in a fuel cell? I was thinking of using one in my street/track 240Z that will be getting a high horsepower turbo engine down the road, but I would think a metal tank setup for EFI would have less maintainence and be cheaper? Greg
  3. With your Grant adaptor and wheel in your Z, does the horn work? I stuck a grant adaptor in my '72 240Z with a different wheel and the horn tab is a good quarter to half in away from the surface it needs to contact to make the horn work. The problem is with the adaptor, not the wheel. I did use Grant's 3592 adaptor too...... Baffled...... Greg
  4. Hugh, I still consider myself a "youngin" but not 16-20! I'm 36 going on 30...hehe. I should drop by sometime and say hi....I've been incognito for awhile.....looking for work and staying close to home mostly. Though I do get to see Roger here and there. You should come over and check out his red car...the engine is in and its coming together and looking great! While you're out this way you could check out my setup too if you want since I'm 10 minutes from Roger? I'd love to see what you're up to on your ZX lately anyway. Greg
  5. It would probably be cheaper to get good parts and have someone weld them in. As far as welders in the area...I don't know any personally. I think Bryon Minor welds and he's in the area, but I'm not sure. I'd suggest to check with the members of the Northwest Z club and see if any of them know anyone. You can visit their website at http://www.northwestz.org/ where there is contact info for the members and president. many of the members there are members here also such as Hugh and Skib for instance. Greg
  6. I know a guy who has gear oil in his T5 in a 280ZX and it works fine, but shifts stiffly and is even more notchy than normal. I know another guy who put a T5 into his 240Z and he runs Dextron 2 and it works fine also, but shifts much nicer. You can get a Mustang shifter or an aftermarket one like a Summit Racing one for Mustangs and ti will shift even better. I plan to use Dextron 2, and already have the Summit Racing shifter for mine. Hopefully I can swap it in sometime this summer. greg
  7. How about taking this list that you just created (thanks a bunch, very helpful) and putting in bold the things that are typically changed for more power and/or improved such as "ECU > Megasquirt" for example? Some of us are just getting started and don't know what all these parts are and which ones are usually changed. Thanks, Greg
  8. I've got one on my '81 turbo engine, but I haven't taken it off yet to see if there is any shaft play, and honestly having had no experience with them, I wouldn't know if it does have shaft play or not. I have a line on a T3/T04 turbo that I want to use, so I won't be needing mine and would like to get something for it. I could probably find out more about the condition of the turbo by mid week next week if people are still looking for one. If it looks good, then I'd let it go for $180 plus shipping. Anyone who is interested can PM me. Thanks. Greg
  9. I sourced my own calipers too....the '89 240sx ones with the hangers included....but one of those hangers fell off when I was driving the car, so only one side of the ebrake cable will work until I get a new hanger for the passenger side. I've been checking the wrecking yards, but those 240sz's aren't in there very often. Greg
  10. You guys are lucky you were able to get your degrees and are working in your chosen fields for the most part. Due to some medical problems with my eyes, I still haven't finished getting my EE yet, and I'm 36, but I'm not giving up. I've got enough credits to get an Associate's Degree with one more class, and then transfer to the 4 year school of my choice, but am currently looking for a job again after getting laid off. I do computer IS/IT work. If anyone knows of a place hiring in the Portland, Orygun area, I'd appreciate a heads up. Greg
  11. Those ebrake brackets on your calipers are different than the ones I got when I got my calipers. The brackets that I got were black, and straight with a section at the end for the cable to go in, though the 240Z cable doesn't fit it properly and comes out from time to time. When I got my new calipers, I got ones to fit a 1989 240SZ. Which year of 240SZ calipers did you get? Perhaps the brackets are different from year to year..... I need one new bracket for the passenger side since the one that was in there fell out. It would help to know which year to go looking for at a wrecking yard to find that particular one that you have there. Greg
  12. When you hooked your cables up to the calipers, did you use the left side for the right side, and vice versa? I don't mean to change the cables, but under the car you cross them and the right one goes to the left and left goes to the right. This makes them more the correct length from what I found. The only problem I have with mine is that one of the caliper brackets fell off and I need to find a 240SZ in the wrecking yard so I can get the caliper bracket and bolt to put back in..... Greg
  13. Some guy up here a couple years ago was ticketed for going 140 on I205 on his bike. The laws weren't quite as strict then, and they didn't take his bike away, but the laws were changed to be a lot stricter right after that. So two months later, he gets nailed for doing the same thing....and his excuse was he was trying to find a jacket that he had lost on the side of the freeway.....yah right!..haha. Anyway, they put him away and took his bike away this time. Greg
  14. Same scenario for me too. Hopefully someone can find the parts source and post here. Greg
  15. Harborview is a good hospital so hopefully they will be ok. Also hope they caught the responsible party? And finally, my thoughts and prayers are with your family! Greg
  16. Yeah if they reopen and start selling crap that won't hold up, then its not good. I guess we'll all have to wait and see. Greg
  17. Whats a stock one worth to you Skib? I've got a line on a T3/T04 for my turbo project and won't need the stocker......its sitting on my turbo engine in my garage right now and came out of a running car. You're welcome to come take a look and see if it will work for you...I'm in Cornelius on the west side of Hillsboro so you could save on shipping....Roger Wayland knows where I am. Send me a PM if interested. Greg
  18. I read a newsweek article posted on the Crane thread on Classic Z that says that they are restructuring and will reopen.....so its not all bad! greg
  19. My uncle in Seattle area bought a '72 240Z in 1987 and I happened to be visiting at the time and rode with him back the house. I wanted to buy it from him, but he had just bought it and didn't want to sell it of course. He had a LOT of cars and the Z ended up sitting in his barn for 20 years. I asked about it all the time but he would never sell it to me. He died last year, and had 85 cars, parts and engines and transmissions laying around for all of them, and his sons had to deal with selling everything. So I said hey guys, I want the Z, and they let me buy it finally. Only 87,000 miles and ran when parked. I've had it now a year, and have been driving it regularly and upgrading things as I go. I've got 4 wheel disc brakes now, honda wiper motor, 15 inch swastika wheels and new tires, eibachs and kybs, with a turbo conversion and LSD w/300ZX CV's planned (already have the engine and diff/axles). Overhauled the carbs, put a pertronix in, did the door seals and trunk seal, but still getting fumes, going to be swapping in the 5 speed soon hopefully. Its LOTS of fun, but I need to paint my 1969 Volvo 1800S and get it back on the road before I can really get into the Z too much. I'm 36 now and have loved Z's since I was younger. Greg
  20. Yasin, nice work! I noticed in the pic of your car the intercooler and I guess the snaller one in front of it. Is that an oil cooler? It looks like the oil cooler lines interface with the intercooler also or am I seeing things? How much do you charge to polish a Z turbo valve cover? Greg
  21. I wonder how well your setup would work with a turbo motor? Greg
  22. Sounds like you're making lots of progress Skib! I wish I was able to make some on mine but no money will halt a turbo conversion pretty quickly. I'll catch up to you later...haha Greg
  23. Would it be possible to fix the 300ZX turbo flange by welding something on it to where it would stick out further so as to not interfere with the diff mount do you think? Greg
  24. Wow, thats rare. Too bad I already have my turbo engine, 300ZXT CLSD and axles, and T5. Can't think of anything else I'd need. Hope someone can get something useful from it though. Greg
