I've met many so-called homeless people, in dept. store parking lots and such. But the thing that makes me wonder is why are they there? I mean what choices did they make to be there? You see, I don't believe that one's circumstance dictates the way one lives. Sure I agree that one person can be of a more privileged 'up-bringing' than some others, but still, when you break it down, it's what YOU decide to do with YOUR life that matters! I grew up in a poor family, my mother worked three jobs to pay the bills and the bar tabs my father racked-up! I myself raised my brother and myself, yet by GOD's GRACE, I am not like my earthly father. I belong to a NEW family, a family that loves me and accepts me as I am. I am not responsible for the actions of others, yet GOD requires that I show kindness to all. To the hungry I will gladly provide food, but to the panhandler I say GET A REAL JOB!!! If they won't take food, it's because they don't want it. Most panhandlers make more money per hour on a street corner then a medium wage job, plus collect SSI for 'disability' (usually frying their own brains) plus free government provided medical. They probably make more than me--tax-free--and my taxes pay for their SSI and medical. I've already given them enough of a handout, thank you. And if they have the ability to stand on the same street corner, day after day, they could hold a job--they just don't want to. My wife has spoken at length to several 'regulars' and they are content with the status quo and not having the responsibility of a regular job and all that goes with it--and our state government enables them. I guess, bottom line, help those who can't help themselves, and don't enable the rest, but encourage all to be productive citizens, parents and individuals. Mark

I'd be interested in a "JTR type kit" and components as long as it would allow for example: a mustang 5.0 with the stock EFI to be used and KEEP IT UNDER A UNMODIFIED HOOD! I also believe it should allow the use of "shorty style" headers! I'm convinced that it can be done, the question is WHO will step up to the plate? Note: I'm too busy trying to run a business! Mark

Why do you guys believe the front sump oil pan is a problem? Just notch the back of the cross member and then add a metal plate across the top of the cross member if you're worried about weakening it! At this year's HybridZ show in Rio Vista, several Z's were sporting SBF's and at least TWO of those used a front sump. And one of those was running shorty style headers to boot all under the stock hood! Mark

Some Marines were pinned down in a building in a Fallujah neighborhood. Terrorists throughout the city heard about it and were rushing to the area to try and take the Marines out. The Marines called in air support and the first responders were Air Force F-16's. This video shows a group of guerrilla's rounding a corner onto the street leading to the Marines. The F-16's altitude appears in the upper right corner. In the lower right corner is the countdown until the bombs impact. The crosshairs in the middle indicate where the pilot is directing the laser spot to guide the bombs. The number just to the right of the crosshairs is the length of one of the arms of the crosshairs on the ground in meters. The bombs are two 500lb laser guided bombs. Anyone standing unprotected within a quarter mile of their impact is killed instantly. The total casualty count from this one strike was 48. http://images.military.com/Shock/0,,SA_CAS_071604,00.html P.S. no Marines were hurt in the making of this film!!!!! Mark

Like most American’s, I must work until May before I can claim the money I earn is my own due do the unfair tax system we currently all live under. That means I must surrender FOUR MONTHS of my hard earned dollars to a government that in turn grossly mismanages it! The whole idea of taxing income is stupid from an economical standpoint. And down right evil when the monies are then redistributed to others because of their so called "need". So when my family, (wife and four children) say it's a good thing that we get a tax break because of the number of children or the fact that we are married, it's because it's OUR MONEY we get back! Not your money or the governments! I don't want your money, just my money back! If this country went to a pure flat sales tax on everything, we could fund SSI, Medicare and pay over all far lower taxes as individuals and families. Mark

Our rights are being taken away-Patriot Act
Z-Dreamer replied to zguy95135's topic in Non Tech Board
Mikelly, what Bush did or didn't do before he was president was not as much a concern to me as what Clinton/Gore did in there previous eight years. The only reason Clinton had the ABILITY to pay down the deficit as much as he did is that he became president just BEFORE the BIG .COM boom and the tax revenues that came from them. That and the slash and burn measures he used in gutting our military and security funding. As to the deficit, our country has been in the red since what, Roosevelt? And as to what the demo's think or say I could CARELESS, how my government effects me, my family and my wallet is what concerns me! I don't believe much of what any elected official says let alone the media! Nice thread! Mark -
Our rights are being taken away-Patriot Act
Z-Dreamer replied to zguy95135's topic in Non Tech Board
What "GOOD" has Bush done for me? Well besides making me "FEEL" safer today as opposed to what a Gore presidency (shudder) would have brought me. Last year I received a check for $1,600.00, due to president Bush, for my four children I am currently raising up to be fine citizens. Our previous president gave me nothing, but took more of my hard earned money in the form of a higher tax bill. I do not agree with everything this president has done and I certainly don't trust any government entity farther than I could throw them. But with all things considered, I'll again vote Bush/Cheney come November. Mark -

Arizona Z Car Camel GT front end - why not?
Z-Dreamer replied to rustrocket's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I too love the Camel GT look! I believe it to be an even better solution, (aerodynamically speaking), than the G-nose for first gen Z's. As to it being a good choice for a daily driver? The only drawback would be the lack of headlights, (no the lower circular openings are NOT for lights, too low to the ground to be legal, but rather are ducts to allow venting to the front brakes). I suppose someone could graft in "pop-up" headlights ala` corvette or such. Or simply install Integra style headlights like Blue Oval's Z use to have! Is Arizona Z Car making this front-end again? If so, how much and can anybody say, "group buy"! ps. Does anyone have any other photo's of this front-end? Mark -
Grumpy Vette, As a General Contractor I run into people all the time that just don't understand why I charge the rates I do. Well let's see, first as a business owner I MUST MAKE AT LEAST TWICE what I pay a journeyman employee for any given job, even if I don't lift a finger! For example, most people have no idea what Workers Compensation Insurance costs an employer in the state of California, not to mention payroll taxes and all the other costs of running any business. Expenses like bonding and licensing with the state and every city, town and county that you want to legally work in. Also the General Liability Insurance that I carry that cost me several thousand dollars every year! Sure I have lots of write-offs, but remember it's all "out of pocket" expense wise! As to material costs, if I have to provide materials on a job (most jobs require this) then I will add at least a 10% mark-up for my trouble! As to charging 100% on a job, depending on what part of the county you're in, that is about right! Remember, it's not all profit! Bottom line is " If I can't earn more than a well paid employee, then why am I in business?" As to being your own contractor, it's not that difficult, but do remember that it is time consuming and if you call me or any other contractor for advice on "How do I do this?" we will more than likely charge you for our time! Ah VINDICATION! I do feel better now knowing that my initial "gut" suspicion was correct! (It usually is!) That this individual is a thief and loser! The moral of this story is " Don't believe everything you hear or read, especially if it's in the media!" Mark
