  4. I don't want to grow up! If I do, I'll be old like grumpyvette, but without all that knowledge! Thanks Dan and Davy, I appreciate your concern and friendship! Mark
  5. While hanging drywall in a room I added to my home, I noticed that I'd "forgot" some backing for the ceiling drywall. So I decided I'd cut some blocks and then "screw" the drywall to them! Yes, you guessed it, not watching what I was doing, I screwed right thru my left index finger! And if it was possible to make matters worse, I did it with a drywall screw gun and they don't have reverse! Since my cordless screw gun was across the room, I was stuck with hand at the ceiling. Sigh... at this point I swallowed my pride and yelled for any of my family members to come to my assistance! After about 30 seconds two of my children entered the room and stared in amazement at their dad and before I could ask one of them to hand me my cordless, they run out of the room screaming! Sigh... they returned with my wife. Sheepishly, I explained what happened and asked if someone would please hand me the cordless! So now I'm nursing my finger and medicating with beer. Mark
  6. I've heard that a Dana 60 is as strong, if not stronger, than a 9" Ford and the pinion to ring gear positioning is better/more efficient? Mark

  16. Well because the gear ratio's and spreads are not designed for a lite weight car like a Z! Most Z's will use a 3.54 thru a 3.90 rear end. Do the math. Mark

  18. Has anyone used one of these? http://www.cut-like-plasma.com/index.htm I ask because I'm fairly good at Oxyacetylene welding and since I already have access to one, this setup, if it works, would allow me to cut and weld steel and aluminum like a Tig. Opinions please... Mark
  19. With the wealth of knowledge on this site, I thought I'd share my problem with hope of receiving some suggestions and hopefully a solution to this problem. Anyway, I own a 70 Chevy C20 with a mild build 454, Comp Cams 4X4 cam, Edelbrock Perfomer 750 with vacuum advance, a Weiand dual plane, Accel HEI, headers. The problem is that at about 2800-3000 rpm under load the engine starts to lose power and stumble and when I add more pedal it falls on its face! I am at a loss as to why this is happening, I did have to replace my Holley RED pump with a new one and shortly after I get this problem! I can rev and hold the engine to 4000 rpm in park and it does not stumble. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Mark
  20. Pirelli makes a 345/50/15 that has a Z rating, but they go for around $350 each! Mark

    Life?

Well if you like fixing things, you could become a certified auto mechanic. Here in California for example, a graduate of a automaker sponsored program from a two year community college will start at around $18 hour, plus benefits. And the auto dealerships are screaming for them! But like any entry level position, you'll have to work your way up. Mark
  22. Wow, I didn't even know it was F.S. Mark
