  1. So its ok to use the old datsun wire attached to the LS1 hot post to power the body? OK I can ditch the Red/White wire... What do I do the the other left over datun wires from the alternator? Thanks for the reply.
  2. I have some questions regarding the old Datsun wiring. Old starter wires. Can I use the thick ringed white wire that was previously attached to the hot post of the Datsun starter and attach it to the hot post of the LS1 starter to power the Datsun chassis safely? And, is the black and white (maybe yellow it's hard to tell) wire with the slide connector that previously went to the solenoid "key on" hot? Old alternator wires. What do I do with the yellow wires still attached to the plug that previously plugged into the alternator? What do I do with the black wire (I believe a ground) can I tie that to the chassis for ground safely? If I use the white wire from the old starter to the hot post on the LS1 starter for power, can I now delete the white and red wire that pulled hot from the alternator? Old coil wires. My previous straight 6 had been converted to a pointless ignition.... The green and black and white wire were tied together as a bypass I assume .there is another black and white wire that I believe was for tach, what do I do with all of these ? If I get these things squared away I am good to go and can fire the car . here are my thoughts correct me if I'm wrong. I have run a line from the alternator to the hot post on the starter and from the hot post up to the positive on the battery . I have tied my wearing specialties wiring per instructions into the alternator hot post in starter signal solenoid as well. If I use the old Datsun ringed white wire that was previously tied to the hot post on the Datsun starter I should safely be able to provide power to the chassis, correct???????? I can use the old slide connector wire that went to the Datsun solenoid as a key on hot to tie in to the wiring specialties wiring....... and I don't know what the heck to do with the old coil wires. Thanks in advance to the Datsun/LS1 community. Jim
  3. No fire yet.... Spent most of the weekend helping my daughter with a science project. harness is very nive but instructions for intsall are limited at best. On a positive note, Yury from Wiring Specilaties called me personally over the weekend to address my questions I left on their answering macnine.... Nice customer service IMO. Corvette filter/regulator has a return line that plumbs back into the cell.... no surge tank planned as of yet.
  4. UPS tracker says harness arrives today! hope to have some fire in my ride this weekend.
  5. Broke down an ordered a harness through wiring specialties..... Hope to be fired up by next weekend.
  6. well That was easy... Just some hose to create and "adapter/spacer" and cut down the orginal to fit....
  7. Thanks guys... So should I use that (MAP location/ and new hose) for the Z brake booster?
  8. Now for the "odds and ends" questions..... what is the plug/harness connection on the back of the intake for? and what does the giant diameter hose that comes off it go to, can I cap that? where is the best location to pull vacuum for the brake booster? (Driver side intake port?) Do I need all the hose (and believe there is a PCV wrapped in there) tucked in down the side of the passenger side intake?
  9. Well it's all done minus the harness...... +/- a few odds and ends. oil pressure sender had plenty of room with headers in place.
  10. a little low on cash right now...... thinking of diving into the camaro harness to try and make it work with a reflashed PCM. the only bummer is my donor car was a 98 which is a little more of hassel to use that stuff.... any imput from the community would be welcome. Thanks Jim
  11. Hey thanks Richard.... The tranny mount is kinda tough, I wanted it in with drivline to check angulation before dirlling but that leaves very little space to mark and drill in the tunnel. I used a dremmel for two small holes for markers then drilled them from the cab side. It's very stout and not going anywhere.... I've been pretty happy with the this CXR product to date.
  12. Random pics from the weekend. Fans from Camaro in place after fabrication, tranny mount done, coolant sensor, EGR block off, Fuel complete............. All thats left is intake, finishing exhaust, and wiring to get her on the road.
  13. The sending unit threading is brilliant! that will be up next. I have not drilled out the tunnel mounts yet since I was waiting to get my driveline in to check for angulation. It all looks pretty good so the mounts will be done this weekend as well. Thanks for the water temp sender suggestion. Jim
  14. I started with it dry as a bone and drilled a tiny pilot hole.... use compressed air with lg bit to keep chips out until just before I started to break through then pulled the axle grease method on the drill and tap to keep it clean. going super hand slow with the drill helps alot as the housing peels off versus chips and is easy to manage. I'm confident I kept her clean....
  15. Here is the shot of where I tapped for my steam vent..... I'm going to try and use the port on the passenger side head for water temp sending unit... JTR has a 1/2 and 3/8 NPT adapter for the Datsun sending unit, will either of these fit in that port? Thanks guys.
  16. PICK UP MY DRIVELINE TODAY..... MORE PROGRESS PICS COMING SOON.
  17. Yes thanks I would love that. Ill send you a PM with may address. Thanks again. Jim
  18. I need a little help/advise.... How do I hook up water temp to the stock Datsun Gauge???? I drilled and tapped the top of the water pump for the steam vent, and there is enough room to put the Datsun sending unit there as well, but im looking for a better/proven option. Thanks, Jim
  19. fuel system is complete, Rad hoses and drive belt on.... drive line, exhaust and wiring to go.....
  20. Who did the tailhousing mod? I haven't sourced that yet. Thanks, Jim
  21. Good luck buddy..... So far I have had great luck and most everything has worked out pretty well. I'm getting it done with hand tools in my garage for the most part. The Hybrid family is your key to success.... great knowledge from great people.
  22. Richard, No regrets so far.... Zfan, 1.65 od stainless longtubes to 3" collectors, came with kit More progress Crapforum..... the batteries are dead in my magic wand or I'd be driving now LOL.
  23. Pics of the driver header and the current low hanging fruit..... The headers and oil pan hang just a hair below the cross member.... My car is lowered about 1.5-2 inches. Pretty pleased so far.
