  1. I've got good clearance on all wires.....I pulled my motor from a complete car I bought with wires in place.... Not sure of manufacturer Can you run a low mount alternator?
  2. Time for an update. I sold of 2 sets of wheels and tires and purchased 17X9-9.5 Rota RB's and Kuhmo 245 40 17 255 40 17 V720 tires. They have not arrived yet however once installed, along with flares I have sitting on my bench, I'll post some feedback, pics, and some more AutoX video.
  3. Anyone tried these tires yet??? I switching up to 17X9,9.5 rota's and getting ready to pull the trigger on these. Thanks, Jim
  4. Shop did the rebuild new bearings, nut, and used my spare ring and pinion. It works great and puts power to the wheels as an LSD should. Jim
  5. I bought my harness and pcm through wiring specialties.....
  6. Congrats! best feeling after all that hard work. Now get out run that sucker. Jim
  7. Finally got my anti slosh foam in my fuel cell..... Lost fuel at the pick-up autoX racing last month with 1/3 tank...... Not anymore.
  8. I forget the guage but it's pretty stout...... I went to a steel fab place and picked it up from there as scrap.... I mocked it up and cut it myself.... painting the underside black to prevent rust... I did seal it. It doesn't rattle and blocks sound pretty well with my carpet kit over the top. I think I'm into for less than $20.00
  9. New Video of AutoX in the dry... not pushing the car 10/10th's just yet as I still need time to sort it out. Good day of racing though. 004.MOV
  10. Beautiful work.... You may think of heat shielding your brake reservoirs to prevent boil over although not sure that would be an issue unless your road racing... Just a thought. Your work is very inspiring and your attention to detail is spot on. I wish I had that kind of discipline.
  11. I used the stock 240Z rubber lower boot with the T-56 and it works perfect....
  12. Stock fuel is the first to go..... I will most likely just swap out the clock space for a speedhut, then do the others as cash allows. ordered a new dash cap today to replace the one sacraficed for the gauges.
  13. Gauges installed. Crummy pic but you get the idea. Fit of 4.5 gauges is spot on with OEM
  14. 4.5 speedo and tach fit perfect in my 72 240Z LS1 swap, pods and cans. Great product at a great price with great service.....
  15. I'm using stock Datsun for now.... it all works minus the gas guage reading backwards...... I will upgrade to speedhuts later as $$$ allows. These 4.5 gauges fit so nice inside the stock housings.... I got pretty lucky.
  16. I forget... let me look that up. I think I ran long as well.... you can always cut down but not add to. Finally got my gauges out (thanks for the Hybrid suggestion of 3/4 socket on wing nuts). New qauges are installed in pods, very clean, and will get wired and back in this week. had to sacrafice my dash cap but a new one is on order. pics comming soon.
  17. Looking at your mounts..... Looks like same hole locations..... Not sure what the diff is? Keep at it my friend, you will figure it out. Your build looks great by the way. Feel free to keep asking questions. Jim
  18. Home sick today.... Let me see I can take a few pics of mounts close up as is and post them for you.
  19. Not sure...,. I bolted it all up where it seemed to naturally land after numerous measurements and according to the fit on the trans brace. Cxr doesn't give any instructions so I just went with my gut after years of tinkering and racing cars. I'm happy with how it works as of now. It pretty close to firewall and it all sits behind the front axle..... A few more autoX races and I will check for stress issues along the way Jim
  20. Time for another update of the "facts" .... JCI- Way more positive feedback than not.... Difficult fitment seems to related more to a tired Z-car than kit quality. Works with JTR headers and low mount alternator location. Very complete kit with a build manual (although some feel manual is not that great) and most of the goodies to get your LS1 Z on the road. A proven kit all in all. Dingo- Does work with JTR headers and no change to steering rod.... Trans mount is a pick of everyone else. Uses stock Z mount locations for good support but needs a high mount alternator bracket to work.... Dingo, speedway, and others sell the bracket for less that $200... Ive also posted a link to "nasty z28" for a cheap high mount alternative. Easy motor mount install but after that your on your own to figure out the rest. With the Hybrid community, it is very doable. CXR- I have a complete build with this kit in a 240z, and it was a pretty easy journey for me with hand tools in my garage.... Measure 10X and install once. check my build log for more info. CX keeps adding to their kit for completeness.... Currently with all mounts and full exhaust with LT headers. I am using a low mount alternator without clearance issues. I chose a custom Y back 3inch exhaust.... saved some $ and had my choice of muffler. Rumor has it that CX is working on a driveline as well for their kit, I cut down my aluminum Camaro shaft . I believe you could use the Dingo mounts with CXR headers. The headers are angled to work with their Y pipe so take that into consideration if you buy those alone. Hawks- Only works with their LT headers from what I can tell....... They offer a trans mount that welds in versus all the other bolt ins... I love to have some feedback from a completed and running build. Hokes performance: beautiful stuff.... Don't know of any complete builds or cost, but worth looking into if your serious about your car. According to his site, the Cxr long tube headers work with his mount kit. DIY- Cheap and easy but you need to dial in placement. I'm leery of Z frame unibody strength not tied to a crossbar. Quite a few have been done with success so I would love to hear some feedback from hard driver / track guys. Thanks to all for the input. Jim (trackzpeed)
