  1. A little more work last night. Both headers bolted up and done... the drivers side slipped in easy from underneath once the steering rod was removed.
  2. Motor and trans are in. Shifter come through the hole as advertised. I will post pics when I can on Monday..... I was able to install with the passenger header bolted up, there is plenty of room to do the driver header after the fact... Install was a snap, I hand tightened the entire mount on to the block including what bolts into the cross member uprights. Lifted the back of the car onto ramps and the front on jack stands just high enough to allow the hoist legs to roll under the car. I pre installed the tranny mount as well minus the part that will drill through the tunnel. My car is a 72, it had threaded "wings"/tranny mounts and after I trimmed off a small tab on the trans housing it fit in place very easy without any extra cutting and ability to use the stock mounts. Really slick or lucky, I'm not sure. Once I had the tranny in the tunnel and the bolts threaded through the mount, the motor mounts were already lined up. All I had to do was slip the bolt through and bolt it down. I unloaded the motor from the hoist, let it all settle in place and bolted her all down. All that remains is the additional supports through the tunnel but I'm waiting on those until I know for sure the tailhousing and rear end are lined up. Felt good to get this far, feel like I'm in the home stretch now. Pics coming soon.
  3. Just run Johns kit....... Or the one hoke is producing. I did not want to hassle the exhaust fab and I liked the low mount alternator so I chose cxr. Planning to drop my motor and trans in next weekend, then ill give you my opinion
  4. Well I got the slave done..... Minus the remote bleeder, argh! The one I bought from summit doesn't screw into the slave. I found one at speedway that will work so a day or returning, ordering, and waiting for now..... After this is done, I have some clean up then its time to swap the motor/trans into the Z. Should be in the Z by the end of August, with other projects pending that take precedence.
  5. Thanks guys... I purchased the remote bleed in advance during my endless research. Should be back together this weekend. Next up is improved racing trap door baffel and a new pan gasket..... Then its time to stuff her in the Z.
  6. Ok I need a little help. I purchased the Russell adapters and line for the clutch..... Do I need to punch out the roll pin in the stock line to remove and replace?. It seems too simple, don't want to miss anything. Thanks. Jim
  7. Jci is bullet proof for the most part. I chose CXR for my own reasons...... So far so good but I'm only half way there. If I was patient I would have waited for Hokes set up...... My.02
  8. What do you intend to do with your car...... That dictates suspension upgrades IMO.
  9. Thanks Richard. The camaro was a PIA to pull. Just glad it's done and in good shape. I've been dreading the tranny mount for the T56 to Z Hope cxr has it close to reduce frustrations. Stay tuned.
  10. Well the LS1 and T56 are pulled.... time to tear down and prep for the Z. Feeling a little more inspired to get er done again.
  11. lowering springs are not always great performers as they can coil bind. Usually they are a progressive..... the softer coils bottom out under the load of the car resulting in lost travel and performance. my .02
  12. I got impatient and broke down for the CXR stuff..... Very nice work Hoke!
  13. LS1 and T56 are getting pulled...... Buying a complete car for swap requires extra time/labor in pulling 2 motors. Kinda hitting a wall (to much work and not enough time with the Z) so I need to get some stuff done soon to stay inspired.
  14. I bought my kit straight from their site..... I mistakenly hit the wrong shipping (next day air vs ground) and it was an extra $150 already cleared through my credit card...... I called cx, explained my boo boo and they readily credited back my visa account the difference. So far, I've had a decent experience with them. I will say however they seem to be a small staff and can be difficult to reach or responded to with questions. Just my .02. My LT headers seem ok at this time but thanks for the heads up.
  15. Where did you get that fuel filler door? that's trick, I want one.
  16. Use cut down chevy chevette springs with KYB's. This combo has been autocrossed successfully for years with decent street manners to boot. Springs start at 200 lbs but that goes up with cut springs.... There is a formula for this but I don't recall it off the top of my head.
  17. I've been running 225 50 16 hankook rs3 on 16x8 +4 rotas with no rub..... Great predictable grip, and allowed me to clobber my autoX class (local club). I just scored a great deal on 255 50 16 r888 that I will run with Ls1 swap.....they are 25.9 vs 24.9 in diameter but I'm planning on wheel adapters and ZG flares as there is no way they will fit...... Once the swap is done, I can check ride height and planning for the bigger tires. Not sure if I can pull off the square set up or if I will run staggered with 255 rear and 225 front. Still debating 16x9 +0 wheels with a square set up and selling off the rota rs3 package all together. Back on topic..... The RS3's worked great with little room to spare but no rub on spring perches and rolled fenders on lowered Z. My .02
  18. Try these guys. "Door cards" in FG and CF. http://www.frpautomotive.com/
  19. Very nice linear curve and great numbers. I guess the cx long tube question on size and breathing is now answered. I am getting set up to pull my ls1 out of the camaro this or next weekend. Your success is inspiring me to get motivated again.
  20. Stunning build, way out of my league but within my dreams. Nice work!
  21. Check the info on the facts not opinion thread re mounts. There is some decent information there. I chose cx racing but was on the fence with jci. My $02
