  1. Maybe it is, the problem is its not neccessary for a street car, and break in doesn't always happen. I'd go with standard rings, they work fine.
  2. Thanks Randy. I figure I will just get new injectors, but I dont know what will work with the rail or what/how/who to go with for a custom rail to fit modern O ring injectors. I have NOT had a chance to dig through the 13 pages in this forum, because work has kept me busy. So until then its all a mystery, since I can't ask a question without searching first (and searching wont pull up some stuff without luck).
  3. No, its an R200 I bought. I will look at the numbers again, but I want to stay in 4th gear on the tracks, 5th gear maybe with a stronger trans. I dont know that I'll expect to hit 174 at Willow Springs (I'd probably crap my pants), but I like having headroom, especially if I ever take it to Silver State, although that dream may never happen. I want my torque to pull me, not my gear. But I'll take a look at the numbers again.
  4. I have FTP available, or simple email, william@fortmason.org is set to accept up to 35MB files. QT is already usually pretty good compression, plus I view most of my clips in 2x size anyway
  5. There is a TT kit for the 350Z now, but not yet for the Altima, soon supposedly. Altima and the new SUV are having big MAF problems, nobody seems to know just yet why.
  6. Sweet! If the size is somewhat reasonable I can host it, or I can try to put it in WMV format if you dont mind the Microsoft formats, they get pretty compressed that way, or DivX...
  7. All I have to buy is the rods and the pistons? Right, a stock crank will suck up 700 HP and beg for more... With a good set of 15º SBC heads converted to reverse cooled, and a stock ported LT1 intake, there is a guy with a 242/248 hydraulic roller cam putting out around 650 HP @ 6600 RPM. Hows that for some modern day engine whup ass! Would not require as much fancy work for an LS1 though
  8. If you wanted a drag car, I'd get something other than 17" wheels. If you want a road car, get a stick. You can build up more than 385 HP for less than you quoted, unless of course there is some reason you really want a particular setup. Getting something with a garauntee would probably be the way to go, if your buying brand new. For that price, I'd get an LT1, but if your anti computer-controlled vehicles then you can convert it to carb, or get something else right off the bat like an L98 and rip the EFI setup off.
  9. Are you sure your going to be able to use an arc welder without cutting up your stuff?
  10. I haven't started, but I have an L28ET to go in too, sometime
  11. I can't find anything but ported numbers, and thats whats in the "How to Modify Your Nissan" or some title like that, everyone knows the book I think...
  12. I've got a 3.90 right now (on a shelf), but thats for sale. I have a 3.54 that will come out of a turbo car I have, since I'll have the TQ to pull it, and I can stay in the gear longer on course this way. For an NA car though, yeah I would have wanted the 3.90.
  13. Somehow I thought this was all a joke. There are about 13 pages in the turbo archive, I tried searching and it looks like you'll have to dig right along with me. I have a donor vehicle and will also be swapping soon.
  14. http://docmudge.tripod.com/ZR8Ed.html still lives
  15. With my early 5 speed, I'm in 3rd gear before 20MPH, first gear is worthless. If my speedo is accurate though, someone put some 4.10s in the friggin car, I'll find out someday.
  16. Is that a steel or aluminum intake? Looks sweet!
  17. Grumpy, I hope that you show up in this one again. I wondered how cleanly tolulene burns compared to regular gas, in terms of emissions? How safe is it for standard fuel lines, or is it? I tried to get answers on this awhile back to pass a big cammed V8, but nobody really knew. Some use alcohol up to 10% (yes I know about corrosion and fuel line issues...), so I wondered about other fuels burn cleanliness... As for leaded gas folks, keep in mind O2 sensors dont like it.
  18. Demon insists on advertising that they make more power though(?)
  19. Len, what injectors are you looking at? Are these cars using low imp stuff? I bought that 82 ZXT by the way, thanks! I pick it up this or next weekend, when I can get a tow rig, already payed for though. I will need to freshen the turbo or buy a temp one off eBay while this one, or some unit gets rebuilt.
  20. http://www.zhome.com/~aktar/zcar/73/turbofi/ There may have been another page out there, I dont recall for sure. Basically I think the issue was emptying the fuel bowl too quickly.
  21. I think the late model NA trans is better, just for sake of having a set of close ratio gears. The gear spacing of the T5 is not really performance oriented as far as shifting goes. In the meanwhile I have an early 5 speed, which is about like having two 4th gears.
  22. At least one person on the board has done ~160 in the Silver State Classic, not really a ton of body work either.
