  1. For $459 its hard to beat the value.
  2. They are screw in, 7/16" base and 3/8" top, instead of a full 7/16".
  3. http://www.proshocks.com/calcs/coilsprate.html Easier than working formulas all day
  4. Guideplates, and I'd go for 7/16" ARP studs, but the hotcam doesn't really 'need' it, I just like a little overbuilding. You can use regular SBC guideplates, the pushrods (7.2") are hardened stock up until I believe 1996, I used Trick Flo 7.2" CMolly for about $86 or so. Don't forget some springs for your .525" lift, HOTCAM springs work but they are marginal, especially if you want to rev it out a bit, they were originally for the plain old LT4, some people say they bind with the HOTCAM meaning they are very marginal.
  5. Master cyl, take the cap off it, and push on the pistons, some cars need a C clamp (well, it helps).
  6. I thought about a 914 for awhile, nice cars. There is a semi-local guy putting a 350 in one, crate engine, and a modded Porch transaxle (915? 911? I forget). His race 914 is ~1700 pounds
  7. I can't comment on the closed loop operations of the ZX/ZXT ECU, but the OBD I stuff is closed loop by about 140ºF (60-300 seconds typically), although I can look in my logs for sure if someone really cares to know the exact answer. There ie also a "minimum temp closed loop cold MAT, which I've never seen affect my CA car. The 160º thermo isn't fully open until nearly 180º (for the one that I tested anyway). I never use a 50/50 mix, but it depends on where you live. If you see tons of very hot/cold weather, then maybe thats appropriate. I use closer to 90/10, with using distilled water ONLY. If the coolant sensor doesn't rely on conductivity and only level, then I would not use coolant at all, I will probably do that for the Z before I take it out on the track.
  8. If you had one setup already, then I'd probably agree, especially if you had a mild V8. More torque, and a tad more HP, on an LT1 I'd say 25 more RWTQ and 15-20 more RWHP, stock for stock, but I can't recall any solid numbers for sure. More mods, more difference.
  9. I've heard good things about the F250 Turbo Diesel, but haven't seen it first hand.
  10. Well setup 400/406 can put out a nice 600+ HP, I know a Mopar guy with a 406 putting out something like 650 RW, in a 4th gen Camaro
  11. On the Camaro its .050, although thats an 8 not a 6 I believe for the 6 cyl Camaro its also .060 or .065 or somewhere thereabouts.
  12. I agree, I'm an NA guy just for ease of use and HP on the cheap. A turbo would be great, but to do it right, on paper it starts to add up really fast If you were to go turbo, I'd probably just sell off the powerplant and start fresh with something else, and I am pretty sure you'd do better for the $ that way.
  13. Wow, thats quite a story Mike, thanks for sharing, I'm sure it was stressfull just thinking about it all over again. Pete, does Courtesy do mail order? I use a florida dealership for GM stuff, good prices, so I'm hoping this is the same deal mayhaps.
  14. I have the catalog that they put out a couple years ago, after I think they shut down the mag (did they?) but I dont' recall any Z stuff in there, I will take a peek, if I find anything I'll post.
  15. Wow, is that thing going to be slow or what!
  16. eBay and/or enthusiast sites for that vehicle.
  17. I forgot what page it was on, here we go: http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/2824/engine.html
  18. Z Ya, with even shorties versus long tubes I would do it, why would it not be worth it? Ground clearance issues?
  19. FWIW, the Haynes says for 240Z: Front Spring Wire Diameter .417" (10.6mm) Coil diameter 3.94" (100.0mm) 10 coils Free length Left side 14.1" (373.5mm) Right side 15.1" (386.0mm) Rear Springs Wire Diameter .449" (11.4mm) Coil Diameter 3.94" (100.0mm) Number of coils 10.65 Free length 15.0" (381.0mm) Although since the Haynes is the English version, not sure it will be the same as US spec.
  20. Here is a parts "FAQ" http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/2824/engine.html Don't forget to transfter the fuel system
  21. Pick what you prefer working with, but for ease of setup, there are more Chevy weed-wackers than there are Ford Z's
  22. I hate to say, but it looks like a Gremlin...
