Got a v8 in my '73 240 and read something under the search function about removing the tach from the dash and calibrating it. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

My front bumper is beat up a little and rear bumper is missing on my '73 240Z. Is it the law that I have to have them? I think I saw one once without the rear bumper, it looked good. Anybody ever made their own or modded 'em from something else? Help me out with some ideas, I can make pretty much whatever I have a picture of.

Thanks, I ended up cutting them down 6"(!) each. Now I just have to get it aligned.

I have the ps assist unit off of an '85 Thunderchicken, everything is in place nicely except for one thing - the rods are too long! I would simply cut them down and weld the threaded part back on but to do that I would be cutting back past where the rubber boot is. Anybody ever done this with this setup before? If there's a website or something on it let me know pls... I searched this site but couldn't find help, may have been looking for the wrong thing. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cool! I picked up mine on the 11th, it's got a 350/700R4. Body is pretty good, needs paint. Will be fun once I get the power steering conversion done.

Not sure this is the place to ask but don't know where else to do it. I'm looking at a '91 NA 5spd 300ZX and wondered what in particular I should look for. Any problems particular to that year model? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes, you can go to eastern europe and not know the language, most people speak a little english at least, be prepared to get ripped off on some business transactions. This is not a Z (it's an '83 Celica GTS) but it's the only hybrid site I know of where I could ask this. I'm thinking of putting in a V6/standard and cost and reliability are my two main concerns, although not in that order. Weight is a factor as it's a small car and I don't want to do radical suspension mods. I'm thinking 3800 series out of a Camaro/Firebird, or should I go Ford? I know I can get a complete wrecked Chevy for $1k or less, haven't found anything on Stangs yet. I could be convinced to go V8 if the weight wasn't too much more, is that a possibility? I may not be able to reply anytime soon, but thanks for any help!

Yeah, I think you're right about the V8. I really don't want a carb though. I hope to be going fi. It's currently got the fi 22R-E in it. It's a decent motor but will cost an outrageous amount for the horses I want.

Dress well, be respectful and fight it. When you lose, appeal. Don't hire a lawyer, you're prob gonna lose. The best thing we can do is fight it because it costs them time. If more people would fight them, they would write less tickets. They count on people just paying quietly. If you've got a clean record up 'til now, tell the judge! "I can't afford it... please don't hurt my record..." you won't get anything if you don't try.

If you've replaced them recently you shouldn't need to buy new ones, just clean them and see how that does.

The same guy who did the bike conversion for Leno also puts two turbines in trucks, Leno says that's alot more driveable. It was in the Popular Mechanics mag some time back I think...

Doesn't have anything to do with moisture does it? Those symptoms sound similar to what happens when you wash the motor... just an idea!

The prob appears to be the AFM. I adjusted it today and it smoothed out considerably. Not quite perfect but it's driveable at those rpm's now! A little more adjustment might perfect it.

That sounds right but you prob. shouldn't run it while dry. That is a major cause of fuel pump failure. Even if there was fuel it will only run for 5 sec before it cuts off again.

No, haven't checked the wire sequence but wouldn't it sputter and backfire if 2 wires were swapped?

She still surges at about 1k-1.5k rpm, I've replaced the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel pump and filter, cleaned the throttle body but made no adjustments to it. What's next?! She runs great at full throttle but jumps a little at idle and wants to die at the mentioned rpm's. Oh yeah, also won't stay running when cold 'til temp. is all the way up.

Sure appreciate the help. Anybody ever used one on a Z before? Looks like the mounting might be a little akward... and I didn't see anything on their site explaing the different ratios, 4:1 - 12:1. How do I decide which one I need? One more thing, can I test the FPR I've got now?
