Welcome to the board. Try a search on this and you'll find alot. It's been asked several times recently. The general consensus seems to be about 3G's for the swap not counting the car. That's the baseline. It has been done for less but they had pretty much everything they needed and did the work themselves. It has also been done for MUCH more. Buy a JTR manual.

The cost is mostly dependant on your skills. Can you cut/weld/paint? If not the cost goes up dramatically. I heard of one guy doing it for $1,000 not counting the car. I'm pretty sure that was bone stock motor etc. I do know there have been posts in the past on what it costs. Seems to average $3,000. It's the "little" stuff that kills ya... the "while I'm at it syndrome".

I would definitely buy the hat. 2 of 'em! One for work... And I would like a patch or 3.

Welcome! More or less... the 240's weigh the least at about 2400Lbs. the 280's are about 2800Lbs. and later models only continued to gain weight. What I've wanted to do is take the 280Z (not zx) and put a turbo'd engine from the 82-83 model in it. That would be the easiest swap because it's already fuel injected.

And there's always the option of spraying a gloss finish and lightly misting it with water after it's dry to the touch but before it's cured. Hard to get that to look even though... I'm not real serious about that option.

I'd have realized it was a joke the second time I heard the black racecar drivers name... when you slow it down it's - lemon jello - ! I heard a joke once about it. Twin brothers at the hospital and the nurse supposedly tricked the mother into naming them orangejello and lemonjello...

Getting alot of votes for silver. Then green or blue. And "arrest me red". Not real sure what I'll do about the exhaust, would like to put the single outlet mufflers and patch the cutout but that takes $ that I don't have...

I swapped plug wires and now it backfires sometimes at idle and increases with the RPM's. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure they're all snug.

I LOVE black. But I'm not sure my bodywork is gonna stand up to that... and I can't afford to try it and repaint it white if it doesn't look good enough.

Mmm, one thing I should add is there's no way mine could be a sleeper as it has a cowl hood... perhaps racing stripes?

I don't like plain white but like the idea of light colors as I'm in Tx and don't have AC. Although I love dark green and blue... (no, not together... ) I've looked through the album and saw some nice cars... got any ideas or better yet, pics? What would a pearl white look like on a Z?

Yeah, the rivet idea would work if it wasn't so far off. It previously had screws but I don't like the thought of putting screws into my sheetmetal... I just patched the trim holes! I don't have a heat gun and the blowtorch scares me so think I'll leave 'em off. Anybody wanna buy a pair of side skirts?

Give me a few weeks (or months ) and I'll bring mine. It's in my shop getting a makeover right now and I'll have to do a little mechanical after that but it shouldn't take too long. I've got family down there so that'll be my excuse...
