240z!!! replied to BRAAP's topic in Parts Wanted

Whats one thing thats makes your Z different from the rest....
240z!!! replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
first id say id have to be the paint..ive also seen another member on this forum with the bob sharp paint but with red and not blue secondly id have to say original matching #'s motor, original tranny, and original diff(hopefully it will be coming out soon) last but not least ive been driving the car with a blown headgasket, a leaky rear and front main seal, and a bad throwout bearing for at least a month daily with no major problems(except clutch slippage, and of course lack of power but its a l24 what do you expect?)...and yes i have to change my oil every week or it gets to watered down -
im 19...i had my first z (1982 280zx) when i was 15....then sold it(to much luxury junk and to heavy)...looked around and found me a 1972 240z a while ago...in between ive owned 8 z's but these 2 are the ones i kept and drove...ive always been partial to all the old japanese sports cars...light, fast, easy to work on...i just love nissan/datsun...that and i like dumping money(that i really dont have to spend) on old rusty cars...: )

go to advanced auto parts and get a 79-83 280zx alternator for 50 bucks turns yours in for the core...i believe since your car is a 280z then you can just plug it up and go(other than making the jumpers)...there will be one plug on the back of the alt. thats not used then you just make 2 jumpers and connect the wires together where the external regulator used to be...there is a write up on alanticz and if you search some there is a few posts with exact write ups

I need a MASTER bushing kit
240z!!! replied to bigjohnsonzc's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis

what does the 89 look like? ive got a 72 240z...pm me

i need someone that can replace my floorpans in tn or close..
240z!!! replied to 240z!!!'s topic in Fabrication / Welding
the only welding shop we have in this area charges rediculous amounts...they wanted to charge me 300 dollars to weld up 8 cracks in an exhuast manifold...then i went to a muffler shop and got them to weld it up for 10 bucks...and it worked fine every since and look good too... -
talk to jack280 he has chopped his top .... http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=20407

240z!!! replied to 240z!!!'s topic in Fabrication / Welding
i didnt mean it was a waste of money to pay someone..i was just saying why pay 1000-2000 @ 75 dollars an hour when you could just get a guy to do it and not have to pay half that...i know its a lot of work but im also willing to do most of it i just have to find someone who can weld them in first... -
im looking for someone to replace my floorpans in my 72 240z...ive already got the sheet metal (16g) to replace the old ones...im just looking for someone with the skills to cut out the old ones and weld the new ones in....i dont really wanna go through a shop...its a waist of money to pay the shop and the mechanic doing it...so i figured someone on here could do it or know someone that could do it for a decent price

Higher Compression L28 Shortblock Build Questions
240z!!! replied to jknc90's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
there is only 2 types of l28 block..the n42 block which was found on 75-78 280z's and ocasionally found in the early 280zx's...the other block is a f54 block which came on 79-83 280zx's...about the only difference in the 2 is that the f54 has semi sieced(sorry) water passages...its been up in the air for years which one is better (i think everyone has there own opinion) but if your not going with a stroker motor or going to bore it over...then either block will do...the only l28 that came with flattop pistons is the f54/p79 combo... now as for the head..unless you want to drop a lot of money on head work...then i would get a stock l28 and go from there...they were designed for that block with the bigger valves and you can just bolt it on and go...and yes all the l28 heads have the whole to mount your fuel pump... the easiest way to go about doing a high compression head...which has already been stated is to get a f54/p79 motor and shave the head and shim the cam towers...although the p79 is round port and you would have to get a header or the original exhuast manifold with the f54/p79 because the l24 is a square port head... -
Higher Compression L28 Shortblock Build Questions
240z!!! replied to jknc90's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
unless your wanting to run race fuel or a really high octane gas then id stay away from anything over 10:1 comp...most likely that e31 you have still has the smaller valves(not to mention the brass seats and valve sleeves which were made for leaded gas) which will just hurt proformance on a l28...id suggest going with any l28 block with flattops and a n42 head which already has the larger valves and a stock headgasket...which should give you somewhere around 10:1... -

TABCO body parts (more to be offered???)
240z!!! replied to Horatio's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
see if tabco can make some floor pans...there prices are really good and it'd be nice to be able to get some floor pans without having to go through someone in Canada...no offense but the shipping's just to high... -
ive got one out of a 72 parts car...havent inspected it up close but when the car was running the heat did work and worked good with no smell of antifreeze and the floorboards never got wet...the dash is off so it will be a breeze to take it out...

you can get 1 at autozone for 80-100 bucks brand new...

I must really love this car or I like to waste my time
240z!!! replied to islanddozer's topic in Fabrication / Welding
honestly my suggestion would be to get a 240z shell with little to no rust and drop your drivetrain in...honestly its not worth the effort unless you have the tools and the time...but if your dead set on fixing this car i have a 81 parts car with really nice floorpans and rocker panels (the only thing that is questionable is the frame rails that run under the floor pan, theyre not rusty but they got bent up some how but they are easy to replace with some tubing)...that parts car has no rust anywhere to be found...so if you do need some metal off of it id be more than happy to sell it to you..(you'd be paying for my time and not really the metal) -
want to buy a original 240z mirror in decent condition or just the glass...ive got one but the glass is bad on it and it has some pitted rust on the arm...either one will work but it has to be the original one...pictures would be nice and price shipped to 37064...thanks cory

wtb: parts cars or non running projects: cheap is a must
240z!!! replied to 240z!!!'s topic in Cars Wanted
ive found countless cars in tx and arizona but everyone thinks that these cars are worth 10 grand in crappy condition...with this recession ppl are lucky to get 6000 for a really really nice z in perfect condition but my search continues -
i mounted mine at a 45 degree angle with a filter(supplied with the pump) behind the pump not to clog it up....its about 6 inches away from the tank...its very small and reliable...id suggest it to anyone...ive been running mine now for a year...driving 40 or 50 miles at a time...and it was only like $40 bucks....beats 80 dollars for mallory all your paying for is a name
