  1. there is actually 2 control levers....one controls how much water goes into the heater core and the other one opens a flap so that it changes from front vents to defrost vents....they are easy to find and a small choke cable is all that pulls them open and closed....the only other problem you will have is running your blower motor....you'll have to find the end of the connection(were it used to hook up to the back of the control panel) then hook it up 2 a multi switch because there's like 3 different settings it could be on...unless you just want it on one...hope this helps a little
  2. honestly ive always hated body kits....but the one on your 350z is really tasteful and compliments the car well.... thats what it is...it reminds me of a g-nose on the 240's
  3. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/merchant/the-z-connexion sorry it was the-z-connexion but contact them directly because there is a lot of stuff that they have that they dont list on ebay
  4. you can contact z connection (they are on ebay) he has all the vin plates that you need but you'll have to buy the stamper to stamp your vin into them or find someone who can do it oh and you could get 200 hundred out of your car easily...the scrapyard may even pay you that much...
  5. there is only the vin on the firewall, the one on the door, the one in the engine bay and the one on the engine....unlike most car company's datsun's only concern was to keep track of how many datsuns were sold i.e. the vin's are in order from when they left the factory...unlike old pontiacs like the lamons that had 8 vins(correct me if im wrong) stamped all in the body of the car....thats why its extremely difficult to do a gto conversion without everyone knowing....
  6. the needles should have a screw on the side of the piston that you unscrew then very carefully wiggle the needle out use some kind of gunk remover if you have 2...if you use pliers then the needle will be trash(so unless you have a replacement dont)... as for the float bowls you should be able just to push that pin out, that holds the 2 sides to the tabs on the top of the float bowl cover.... and when i took my su manifold and header off i put the header on first and used a wrench to tighten up everything that didnt hold on the su manifold and then put the manifold on and tighted everything else up
  7. you could go with a tube chassis which is the best way to go about doing something like that.....which you've already opted out....other than that its either send it to the frame shop or try your luck....just make sure you put reinforcement bars everywhere so the car don't crinkle up like an accordion if you ever wreck it again...or go with a donor car
  8. its actually stamped inside the engine bay on the firewall above the brake booster
  9. there is no fixing that car....unless he cut a whole front end off another one and welded it on to his its not gonna be right....and even if he does that it wont be right....i wouldnt trust it to drive down the road cause if he wrecks it again it will either break the front end off or fold up like an accordian....
  10. ....its ok me and my buddy are making a z car pick and pull...we have one turbo car that were parting out now and 2 non turbo zx's that are coming very soon for part out(which both have five speeds)...and this wrecked 280z is on my list next...right after he figures out "there is no fixing that car"
  11. so youve determaned your getting spark....are you positive the ignition timings right? if all that determaned then its either air or fuel... id say you got something clogging those 2 injectors or theyre stuck closed...check your fuel filter and check your fuel pressure then make sure your injectors arent clogged and lines to them arent clogged either...
  12. i have the same problem...but its intermitten...and i have internet explorer
  13. that my friend is a 280z trans...one of the previous owners must have swapped it out..if you were in driving distance to nashville tn i wouldnt mind having it...if it was at a really good price....other than that i would say put it on craigslist or ebay...i just seen one go for 100 or so....
  14. ive tried to tell him to sell me the whole thing so i can part it out...but its his first car and he thinks he's gonna fix it up....im just gonna give him a little more time to greave then ill talk him into selling it to me....just look for it in the "parts for sale" forum.....
  15. oh he's beat up but ok....oh and i forgot to mention he cracked the windshield with his head b/c of not wearing a seatbelt...and he said he was doing anywhere from 60-70 mph......just imagine that wreck if he had taken those big bumpers off...it would have been ten times worse....
  16. there's no fixing her...unless of coarse he cut the front half off of one in a junk yard then weld them together.....he's still holding onto the thought he maybe able to fix it, just because it was his first car....but he'll break down and sell it to me here in a while...then there will be a full partout
  17. this was a buddys car...its a 78 280z original 5 speed # matching 1 owner car....he was coming around a turn while it was wet and dropped a cigarette in his lap and looked down for 3 seconds or so then looked up and seen his car about to go off the road naturally he jerks the other way then went off a 4 foot ditch(it had the front smashed up just like a dukes of hassard jump) then abruptly slammed into a tree....here's the aftermath
  18. i think it is your key switch...which is on the backside of your ignition....my buddy had the same problem and we switched his out and it worked perfect....in the mean time he just hooked up a push button that was wired to the cylinoid and evertime he wanted to start it he just hit the button and it came right on....
  19. ill looking for a 240z, 260z, 280z body more than likely....would prefer a 280z for the simple fact they can be had for cheap and it has the stuff to swap in the 280z motor thats fuel injected that came out of the wrecked car...it was a 78' 280z....it has to have little or no rust but it can have no motor or trans...(i need as much of the interior and supention as possible)........please i am not rich and dont have a lot of money to get a body of a car....would like it to be as close or in tennessee if possible but im trying not to be picky so i can get a good deal.... it has to have a clean title....because this will be my daily driver asap....any and all offers will be great....thanks for your help... cory
  20. just get some belt dressing from autozone...it's like 3 dollars for a can....it wont squeal after you put it on
  21. always always compare prices....example....ive been searching for a clutch master cylinder for a week....advanced auto parts was 39.00....autozone was 32.00(which keeps it in stock)....so i was gonna get it from autozone until i thought to call napa this morning...napa had it in stock for 24.99 and it was very very similar to the original...that extra money paid for my shifter bushings....think of how many parts you have or will buy for the z....if you do this for every part it will add up quick... also dont just throw away z parts....i was talking to a buddy 2day that owns a 72 z and he sold the little piece of metal that holds up the hood (so it dont fall on your head) for 7 bucks on ebay....its not much but he's sold countless parts like this that were given to him by other z owners and he's funded his whole restoration with this
  22. or you can just go get a reman'd 280zx alt. for 55 bucks from advanced autozone....
  23. the main difference is that in the early models the cas is on the crank pulley and on the 82-83 the cas is in the distributor....the bigger oil pump was in automatic turbo cars....and in my opinion i would stay away from hydraulic lifters unless you know that they are in good condition...because they are really hard to find and if you do they are big money...most say that you can't use them in high hp motor becuase of valve float and the fact that they are almost 30 years old, but there are a couple ppl on this forum that run them in high hp cars....but they do make a kit so you can swap the solid lifters for the hydraulic ones....id say get what you can cause you can always swap in the big oil pump and solid to hyro lifters...ect, ect.....because its hard enough to find one in exeptable running condition
  24. Isn't it possible to run the stock 280z lines in a 240z....and if you get an early model gas tank out of a 280z i think 76 or 75 then you dont have to do the surge tank unless your running races....
