    Sds & Edis 6????

No updates as of yet. I'm taking time away from my projects to focus on rail orders and to spend time with the family for the holidays.
  2. I say L28ET cause it's cheap, easy to work on, easy to find parts, easy to swap in, lots-O-power, it has the "WOW SOB!" factor and sometimes the "WTF?" factor, am I missing something? *Sometimes my fingers type what my mind thinks....* Just my .02 Good luck. pallnet
  3. Yes sir, I'm still making rails in my spare time for you guys and I still run an L28ET.. Check out my site and let me know if you need any help.
  4. Sir If they are 11mm injectors then check out my site (link is below in my signature). I can make you a custom rail for your injectors to fit on the L28 and I don't mind shipping to New-Z-Land.
  5. Maybe it's been covered before and I read over it without noticing the info I need but what happens to the EDIS system if it does not see the missing tooth on the reluctor wheel? Lets just say it's reading teeth all the time because there is no missing tooth. I know this is an off the wall question but it popped into my head and I can't seem to find the answer. Keep in mind that I havn't hooked anything up just yet and the setup I want to put together involves an SDS "E" system running off a 82-83 cas unit. I want to tie the EDIS system into the SDS to get cheaper (not cheap because I paid a chunk for the SDS system a while back) DIS ignition. You guys feem to know EDIS fairly well so I figured I would ask here. Thanks pallnet
  6. Changing the spark plugs on that thing is a PITA on the back bank so the cost reflects the troubles involved. Something you will want to look for though and that's a sludge issue. Pull the front VC and look for heavy oil sludge/gelling. If it's an engine sludge problem, there is a campaign on it and random misfires is one of the complaints. How to I know this? I've been a tech at Toyota for the past 2 years (11 years with Jaguar before that). I've had to send a few back to Lexus that were covered by the campaign only because Lexus will not cover the repairs in a Toyota only dealer. I'm not sure if the 99's were covered but the 2000's were and it's the same car, imagine that.... An in service date will confirm if your's is covered for such an issue. The sludged up oil causes the engine to drag and this will give you random misfires, sometimes the same codes will store after cleared and sometimes they change but there will be misfire codes each time. How can this be fixed?? Depending on how bad it is will tell you what you can get away with. Shortblocking and rebuilding the heads is whats done most of the time so you will have no troubles later on. Sometimes the motor is broken down and rebearinged, reringed and heads rebuilt but always everything is cleaned real well. Sometimes and I do mean sometimes, you can get away with stripping the engine down, cleaning everything, replacing all seals and reassemble.. We had the same campaign on Camry's, Avalons and Highlanders of certain years with the V6 FWD MZ motors. Good luck Thanks pallnet

    Sds & Edis 6????

I talked to them before about doing this, I had an "E" system on my 76 turbo I used to own. They wanted to sell me an "F" upgrade for a lot more $$. Now I'm not cheap when it comes to building power, I just feel this can be done and I like the fact that the EDIS parts can be found allover the place so having spare ignition parts for next to nothing is a major plus. I messed up when I typed the info above. Correction is Holes would have to be blocked off so that the light sensor will only see through the ons to create the wave. Since the trigger wheels in our dizzys are super thin it will be hard to fill the holes with anything that will stick and not throw off the balance. I was talking aobut this with a friend and creating a new disk is an option we talked about. Remember all of this is just tech talk and working out ideas, soon I will set it all up on a bench and see what I can make happen because I don't think I can wait till I put my new SDS in my S13. Thanks pallnet

Sir No, I no longer offer them on my site. But!! Yes, I can make a sensor mount for you. Thanks pallnet

    Sds & Edis 6????

Ok here's what I found so far.... (You might need to read this a few times to put it together, I know I didn't type it like I think it. Cold meds working overtime here.) 81 ZXT's had a VR crank sensor, 82-83 ZXT's had an optical sensor CAS. Both produced slightly different types of signals but since the computer only read the highest and lowest points they can interchange. My SDS "E" system reads a 3 point square wave signal much like the optical signal produced by the ZXT CAS. The optical CAS is 6 points on the center wheel but here's where things get good. The crank turns 2 times for every 1 time the dizzy turns... This makes me think I can run my SDS off of the CAS in the dizzy if I put the wheel right where I need it but I'm thinking bigger then that because I want to run the EDIS 6 system. Ok EDIS 6 system uses a 36-1=35 teeth and a gap, this is a VR signal but just like the Nissan computer it reads the highest and lowest points so in theory the EDIS 6 module should read a square wave signal like the one from the Nissan dizzy mounted CAS. From what I understand the outer ring on the Nissan CAS has 360 slots, see the relation? Now since the CAS inside the dizzy only turns 1/2 rotation to 1 crank rotation the 360' will have to be split into (2) 36-1 triggers for the EDIS. This would involve removing and leaving every 5th tooth to make it 36 teeth 1/2 the way around or 72 teeth all the way around, after this you will to remove 2 of the teeth that are left, one directly accross from the other to make it (2) 36-1 triggers on one trigger wheel. Does this make sence cause my brain is about to be mush? According to certain sources of info found on the web (ok I'm having trouble finding the links at the moment, I admit it). SDS will run off of a Ford "PIP" signal. Now that you have the foundation I have in mind. This is how I was thinking it would happen: The EDIS 6 system would run off the CAS outer wheel modded as I said above to where it's basicly (2) trigger wheels in one unit but the EDIS unit will only see it as one repeating itself just like if it were on the crank. The EDIS puts out the PIP signal that can be read by SDS to run the SDS unit provided it it can run off the signal that timed for the EDIS unit (there might be a timing issue but I have a possible fix if this comes up). Then the SDS can send out the ignition signal whish will be the SAW signal needed by the EDIS unit to give you retard or advance. If the timing is different then the SDS can read from the 6 points of the inner ring of the CAS unit. This means both SDS and EDIS will be readign 2 different signals off of the CAS unit and the SDS will feed the ignition signal to the EDIS VIA the SAW. Now keep in mind that I'm just going off everything I've read and compared at this point. Usualy I don't toss stuff out there without actualy doing it or taking part in doing it but I won't have my new (I used to have SDS on my other car) SDS unit will not be on my new toy for a little while and maybe if others got involved we could pan this thing out by sharing info. If it looks like I'm wrong about any of this info please post and correct me. I think this is a great idea and a very interesting way to get cheaper dizzy-less ignition. Thanks pallnet

    Sds & Edis 6????

No, I've been very busy wiht other things. I guess I was kinda hoping someone had tackled this already but no worries. I've been kicking it around a little here and there and I might have something to work with a little later on when I have the turbo stroker installed in something to drive. Thanks pallnet
  11. 09/03/08-11:24pm The power just came on about 2 hours ago. It turns out that we had no real problems although I had to step out lastnight in just my shorts with my FN FiveseveN and Inova light in hand, I heard something heavy fall on the porch and I feard someone was trying to get into the garage. It turned out to be nothing or someone ran when they heard me falling over the dogs. That was about it. The wife, my 13 year old step daughter and I lived like cave people for a few days. I worked on my "grill master" skills and roughed out some plans for a generator that I can put together useing a diesel 4 cylinder or a 3 cylinder metro engine from the junkyard, it would be mounted on the backyard and hopefully cost me less then $1500.00. The goal is to make it to where it can run the whole house. I have ideas from stuff I've read but I think i will get my great uncle involved since he used to build generators for the millatery back when I was a sperm and an egg. All is well here, I hope you other guys did well.. Thanks pallnet
  12. 08/31/08 10:22pm So far so good. I'm watching the news and as you can tell the power is still on. It looks like a huge feeder band is about to slam dunk us but. Usualy we lose power if the wind picks up a just a little because some aZZholes at the power company won't listen to me when I tell them they have a weak point. Even though they know about it since they go right there to that point and reattach it everytime we have to call. Mean while our neighbors right accross the street almost never have a power outage. For dinner tonight before the storm hits was: I fried breaded pork chops. Boiled green beans with bacon. Baked 2 cheese mac & cheese. That was all handled by me but the wife baked some cookies for later
  13. I'm in northern Slidell Louisiana where I was when Katrina came right over my house. We had no damage to the house or my machine tools during Katrina and that thing was HUGE. We did lose power for around 2 weeks so that ment living like cavemen and not being able to do any work. Today i moved my toolbox and cart from work to the house. Katrina pushed around 8+ feet into the shop I'm now working at so I was getting worried lastnigth as I watched the news. This morning I just couldn't think about anything other then getting my hundred grand or more of tools out of that shop. I moved it all on a trailer of mine but I think a U-haul or tow truck will be the way it's all brought back to the shop. I will be ok here and everything will be fine. I will post on here when power and internet is returned. Anyone trying to contact me about placing an order, order status or just shooting the crap please keep in mind that it might not be my fault if I don't write back right away. I have: Ammo and guns. Water. Food. Fuel and generator. Chain saw but still can't find my desire to use it. Propane and grill. Board games. Around my area we had nowhere near the damage of southern Slidell and New Orleans. As asked and stated on Zcar, I'm not leaving because we were fine due to location and I WILL NOT BE LOOTED.
