  3. i personally dont care if there is rust on a zcar, it makes a great bargaining point, and in my case, i like it on a car thats extremely modified, not only is the welding work simple, you can get the car cheap, i expect that most zs have cancer, and curing them gets you a great car...
  4. hey we can still grab kevins car, that thing runs better than most z cars, just a hood, primer, and an air dam and youre good to go!!

  9. its not a good idea to mess with the smog people really not, i mean you might get away with it once, but every two years having to find a crooked smog, man, then try to sell that car, oh boy.
  10. revs, fine. did see a modded up lightning hang toe to toe with a z06 at the track, finishing up like 13.09 to the vettes 12.9, vette got smoked at teh gate and bearly pulled it out on top.
  11. i was in my buddies bone stock ss maro when he raced a s281 with after market supercharger( he popped his hood before we ran), and he smoked that thing light after light, we ran em about six lights, ran three intersections, and both cars were going for the gold, and that s281 had nothing for an ls1.

  14. if you can get 0 offset rims, you can run them, trim a fender, and get crazy.
  15. 280z is 170 hp stock, about 135 to the wheels you could go with a turbo motor from the zx, but to pass smog it would have to be really stock, then you will have around 180 hp, i think with the stock fi system an NA buildup would not get you enough power to be happy.
  16. no bracket or spacer for the shifter, all stock,stock rods, it comes out of the fusebox, which i have relocated previously in order to run a blade style fuses and rewired everything. before it wasnt a issue with the fuse box right near the shifter. i have modified the trans tunnel to clear the shift rods, i suspect that the shifter will come out at least one inch farther towards the back of the car with a five or six speed, making it easier to mount it, without taking the radio out of stock position, or the console either, im not running the center trans tunnel console, ive opted for the hemi cuda style where its all carpet and the shifter has a simple boot and plate, right now i have absolutely no problems with the setup, you just have to put some brain power to the situation, and make it happen, none of these parts are supposed to be in the car you know, i believe it will work ok, i would suggest jtr to people because its readily available and includes everything from mounts to the radiator. great kit. but i dont like mike knells blasting the scarab to make his kit sound better, not to say its not a great kit. i think the internal rail trans will require mods to work in a scarab setup, but what trans doesnt require mods to work in a z?
  17. oops, didnt read the smog part, ok, do all of the above before i said blower, get it to pass, which should be real easy, go home, and bolt the blower on, youll have around 400lbs of torque under your foot from around idle (thats with a baby charger) and youll be having zo6s and just about anyone else begging for mercy. thats the cheapest and most power i can see, with all the motorwork youll be in just the same to pump it up na that a super charger would, and not see the same results.
  18. check for leaks, run a compression check, check for damage in general, re ring it, re do the head gasket, and stick a blower on top of it, and that 8.5 compression puts you in sick sick blower range, with more hp and torque for the same amount that it would cost you to make it NA and quick. run 10psi baby, run em hard.
  19. oh, i just call every import car a rice rocket whether its fast or not, its the look that makes me scream rice rocket, fw,rw, or mr drivetrain. us included.
  20. i think the five and six speeds would fit nice and pretty close to stock place, i have a four speed manual and it doesnt hit. but hey that car is really nice, dont mess around with unless you really cant stand it.

  22. at the very least for your fuel tank you would have to tap it for a return line, and im not sure if it would work well because the tanks for carb cars dont have the baffles in them that a fi car has, and no you cant use thefuel lines, they are not set up for fi pressures, way too weak for injected useage. you could use a 280z tank or change out the lines and tap for a return line.
