  1. if i could do it again, the only thing smaller than an 8 i would consider is the gnx motor my dream z is a street version of ron jones over all i would go with domestic motors, they are cheaper to build for power and easier to replace should something happen, i were somewhere else where skyline motors and the such were very abundant, who knows? 3.8 or a 454 cammed out, next choice only the general knows.
  2. those syclone typhoon motors are the bomb they are built up a little bit i think, and they are stock liquid cooled!!!!
  3. hey, i thought i was missing my crank bolt too!! this is after two years of driving this car when i finally looked, now i feel good.
  4. hey yall, hey i was out testing out some mods on the red car and i noticed a pull to the left when i brake hard i went and started checking around under the car. the tc rod bushing was non existant behind mounting ear. i go to put a rod back in, and the bushing wont go in squarely, causing the bushing to go into the back of the ear kinda off center, and the bolt wont go down squarely, any clues, the front of the arm goes into the control arm just fine at the two bolts, but its when it goes into the ear things get funny???? any help will be greatly appreciated. thanx yall.
  5. turbo and supercharged are both great at what they do, making power, im a simple guy that likes to do things very simply and reliably, and i would run a blower before turbo, because i have no desire or intention to run fi at any point. i like the holley powercharger 144, i think its great for street driving/racing, boost is instant, and it pulls great and works great on a stock motor. the blower setup has been around forever and its just like any other mechanical thing, youve got to maintain it, and maintain it more often, with great power you have great responsibility. also, the juice is very nice too.
  6. come up with the kit and ill pick it up quick if its lookin tough, definitely, it looks pretty cool.
  7. hey i thought i heard someone was making a bolt in r230 kit? im getting interested in a future swap, im starting not to trust this r200 much longer....
  8. sorry, most likely you wont have to change your rear end.
  9. check your ujoints, if the diff mount is ok, check the mustache bar bushings, it should be one of those..good luck.
  10. hey my buddy just gave me some 280zx calipers and i have a set of 300zx rotors and hubs, does anyone run this combo, ive fit them together and it looks ok as far as fitment, is a spacer needed or am i just kidding myself???? any help would be great. thanx yall.
  11. i spent 3k for the car, and spent what would take a full price type guy over 10,000 to achieve. deep pockets.
  12. yes it will, watch those launches though, thats what did my rear end in, not the diff though, the mustache bar, bushings, driveshaft bolts, all them took the brunt, and one halfshaft, all in good fun. traction will be your enemy, and once you get traction, thar she blows!
  13. there is no replacement for displacement, none.
  14. hemis are the ultimate, that combustion chamber and the size of those dang heads is awe inspiring, got a ride in a cherried out 70 cuda 426, man that thing will smoke em up whenever you decide its time, in almost any gear. bad azz for sure man. hemis can make so much power its unbelievable, somebody put one in a z.
  15. just do it. break it. do it again.
  16. yeah, if youre not doing a lot of drag racing and like a lot of freeway driving, go with an overdrive. i love my muncies, they are tough as nails, and drive and shift hard, t10, just think of that as a muncie with a little more on it. strong trans as well- its taken alot of daily pounding powershifting and drifting t5-should work in a z pretty good, until you get traction-if i could get one id run it. wct5-can take a little more beatings with ok traction-definitely must be nice. t56-great great trans right there , double overdrive, you bearly see sixth unless you have a low mid type motor setup, also will not not pay 1500 for a used trans. i like the dark horse tremecs over all of them, next to a richmond 6 speed-my favorite favorite trans of them all, because they will bolt up to my lakewood scattershield the t5 and wct5 ive heard can be had cheap, i dont know, id rather not buy a used trans unless i could some type of verification.
  17. making the shifter work is easy, and yes it comes out early, big deal, you might have to get a different shifter, not a big deal. i like scarab, ive been drivng and racing my car daily for two years and its good to me, i gave her the winter off go ahead and drop in the 8 already, use jtr or scarab, and then run whatever you want, the swap is the easiest part, when you actually do it.
  18. very nice car! even better cuz its a scarab
  19. i think the carbs help that revving out, the fi na motor i have runs like a complete dog, doesnt want to spray the top end out for me.
  20. i have a stock, all stock 280z, and i shift it as a little past five, seeing that five is about the peak of the power from what i can feel, torque feel at about 4, i liek the v8 car better....
  21. i think that is a off kit by pierre? there was some talk of it being sold as a kit, but no one has brought it up since the msa show so who knows? nice kit.
