  1. My experience with the knock sensor is that it doesnt work very well. Whenever Ive had a ping, I never noticed any sudden timing retard, and Ive had it ping quite a few times.
  2. z's go very cheap in California. Matter of fact, if it has any rust on it whatsoever it can be REALLY hard to sell it, and they end up going for a pretty good price. One worth injecting a lot of money into can be found in the 2k and up range, usually running quite well. Im wondering, in other parts of America, what do the 89-93 240sx's go for???? Indiana? Florida? NC??? Oregon?? Anywhere else outside of Northern California? In Northern California, the prices are getting so far out of hand that my buddy and I have discussed taking trips out of state to pick up 240sx's, almost the same way people will shop from way far away to find that rust free z. the drift scene is creating a lot of casualties, and the ones that go for sale often need substantial body and suspension repair work, carry a salvage title, or run faulty in general. Its gotten so bad out here that a grandmother has once posted a for sale ad saying that her 240sx would be great for a motor swap!!!!
  3. First off I would unplug the ecu and plug it in after a few minutes, with the positive battery post disonected, see if that does anything. After that I would check the ground to the power transistor, has to be a good ground or the car wont run. After that I would see if the AFM flap was stuck or binding at all. After that I would pop open the distributor to see if the rotor may be working it self off. Are you sure theres no boost leaks???
  4. Brown GN powered z car? I remember the motorcycle slicks on the swastikas, which are my favorite factory z wheels, they look like turbos, and they are so 80s I need another bump. I looked into widening swastikas once upon a time, I wanted to do zgs and have 10" wide swastikas 8s in front, cost as much as watanabes...
  5. Just grab one out of the junkyard, use a custom steel clutch hose or a ss one from msa. bolts in.
  6. I believe CA18et is sideflow sohc engine with about 120 crank hp. ca18det is x flow dohc with a bit more. I dont think much interchanges. I dont think the s12 200sx was a very appreciated car.
  7. I let them soak in wd40 overnight. If replacing them, I use a 2lb sledge hammer (mini sledge) and it takes two or three knocks to bust it loose. I usually replace them when I have to un bolt them.
  8. rb25de??? seen one with triple webbers on it, it was nice...
  9. In the end a $1200.00 difference is just that. RB26 is a detuned race motor, nuff said.
  10. 350z chassis is based on the misgivings of both the silvia and skyline platform. The option video discusses this in length, and Ive been under one on a rack and seen it for myself, the suspension is z32 on steroids. I like G35 as well, but I dont like or need any more electronics than a radio and headlights, or rear seats.
  11. fuel pressure is what cools fuel. in an efi system its pumping so fast i dont think it really gets a chance to heat up to a point of any significance.
  12. how about the 80s hondas that are vacum line monsters.. even honda techs dont know where they all go, they just label them.
  13. I dont know about you, but I cant wait to get my hands on a 350z. They are good for a low 14 out of the box if youre ready to really to beat on it, which most 350z owners dont or cant do. Im waiting on a turbo model if they ever make one to come out, if not, ill be ready for one in about a year. I used to not like them too much, but ive flipped 180 degrees I really dig em, rwd widebody and comfortable, and the engine bay isnt bad to work on, easier than tt for sure. Yes the owners do kinda suck sometimes, but whatever with that they love the car cant get mad at a guy for picking the right one.
  14. you might be running real LEAN...
  15. Id probably do the 4bbl over triple webbers on a highly modified motor due to my past v8 experience. I dont know if they made a quadrajet small enough to run on an L6 NA but I would probably use one of those if they since I love how they can make a car run when tuned right. Other than that it would be the good old 4bbl holley, easy enough to tune and rebuild. My efi is running well and I got lucky enough to pick up spares of every known wear part in the system, doubles of some. Other than the 4bbl, the SU's are a very good setup when they run right.
  16. You should see us when we go karting, its complete mayhem. We used to go karting at this one spot where its unlimited races for 60.00 from 12 to 4pm. If I see someone coming up on me too fast, I slam on the brakes to slow him down and use it to hit the turn faster. I ram and and have gotten rammed into and under the barriers ALOT. We pop collars when we pass each other, and we learned how to bypass the throttle stop to get that extra umph in the straightaway. We try to drift every possible chance we get. Basically we do everything we can, get caught and do it again later. We get our moneys worth and take nothing personal. If the ferrari guy ever tried that with our group hed end up under a pile of crazy 20something year olds that listen to gangster rap WAY too much...
  17. ferrari sounds like "fairy" when pronounced in the correct way (italian?) You had every right to sock him if he touches you. Its good you showed some restraint. At your age I would have beat the crap out of him or tried.
  18. you already have the car and you like doing body work, flare it.
  19. Stay with the efi. I like carbs and would only convert to them if I was going radical NA and I was bent on using them.
  20. I love Buca Di Beppo, go to the SF location. Great stuff, thank you Marco Polo for adding cheese to the Chicken Chow Mein....
