  1. Harness could be shorting out somewhere. Track it before things get smoky.
  2. or you can just do what every sr20det guy I know does. They
  3. Nobody offers them afaik. Custom header would help alot as the manifold is unevenly spaced and the front cylinders have to blow through a 2" or so spaced. Definitely room for improvement. Only person I know to have one made for his car was like 1800.00, but it was an equal length ss crazy octopus looking thing and he made 400hp@ 1 bar. Built engine and motec, of course. You can find them sometimes on japanese yahoo, but its a gamble since they are RHD.
  4. ground clearance? You could always just run a straight pipe with NO muffler, isnt very loud on a turbo car, sounds pretty cool actually. the turbo itself tones and quiets the exhaust.
  5. It will work, I know that the 14s clear the brakes at least. I used the steel wheels off a 280z to roll a zx corpse away, and it still had the brakes intact.
  6. he doesnt look like he had fun doing that. Man that was awesome.
  7. Thats gonna kick major *** everywhere, especially with the th400... WHOA!
  8. Its not FO SHO, its FA SHO His ebonics need help.
  9. But I would still try to get my money back regarding the crappy work they did.
  10. I once had to spec out a camshaft for a small V8 supercharger application, and the people had summit recommended using the nitrous cam grinds that they had. Makes sense to me since nitrous is forced induction and requires same things turbocharging does. Cam worked great.
  11. Lets think worst case scenario, you blow a head gasket, throw a timing chain, or even need a gasket, thermostat, or some pistons maybe rod bearings rings Starter.... Which one will be available through standard means, and which one needs to researched and cross referenced and then have you bend over and get served raw with no lube with no reach around for a used part???? I dont think it would be like that with the 7mgte. NOW WHAT.
  12. No, youd be the first. It would probably fit, but you would be foraging into new territory. Whats wrong with the vg30dett?
  13. ive never heard of a turbo application failing because of the block casting, has anyone else?
  14. you could also just find an NA block of any year and swap in your turbo pistons. I would never trust trying to put that engine together with crooked studs.
  15. the front and rear valances on the yellow look cool.
  16. Buying a car without physically being able to check it out is not a good idea I think. To me, the point of selling cars on Ebay is to get international interest in the car, if you can sell it with the winning bid thats awesome, but I think you would get enough people who want to buy the car in person or outside the auction by putting it up on ebay. Having a guy flake on their bid sucks though.
  17. 7mgte, hands down. You have more parts availability than l28et, xflow head, twin cams 24 valves and they can go just as cheap as l28et. only drawback to me is it doesnt bolt right in. I can get the motor trans ecu and wiring combo for 700.00 with low miles, price is right. 1jz a close second, just because i know where to get them for 1400.00 because they dont sell so much, maybe its because once you do the headgasket and arp bolt fix to the 7m, you can still make tons of power. L28et is my pick for moderate hp levels and minimal expenditures, Im pretty cheap and get a lot of driveline parts from the junkyard, and my last trips to the junkyards have seen too many L series6 powered cars with transmissions marked already with the infamous yellow jy pen, which means the trans is already a jy special reincarnated in a different car. Ive pulled off l28et complete swaps for 200.00 and made money by selling off the t5 trans. If I was looking for under 300hp this is my pick, yes its easy enough to get more than 300hp with more bolt ons, but at 13psi and a minimal amount of bolt ons I kicked tons of a55 with the 200.00 conversion ( which is what I paid for an entire running car btw). This is an extremely cheap conversion sometimes, but I would never expect to do another one for 200.00, I got lucky with that one. Me, I think imma drop 2 cylinders more and go with that sr20det, its easy to work on and has enough interchange with its NA cousin in the United states for me to feel comfortable with it. My old turbo car was a ball at around 240hp, I would love to have 250rwhp with an engine that sits behind the crossmember all nice and tidy like the sr. There I said it.
  18. same car, the ebay photos are in front of the presidio in SF, craigslist ad is from SF.
  19. if he she can stay out the boost 87 is ok, but who can do that?
  20. may need to get another tranny and trade.
  21. the 82-83 harness is a little different than the 81. main difference is that the 82-83 dont use the resistor box for the injectors, and I believe that they have a different plug for the crank angle sensor. 82-3 crank angle sensor is in the distributor. I dont think you could find a source for a new one, you could try the dealership but be prepared to pay a lot for it. Im sure others will post more of the specifics, its been a while since ive messed with l28et stuffs.
