davy i dont think its the same guy, that eerie though, you might have met the OTHER cross dressing import racer mechanic in SSF.... the guy does have some cool stuff in his clip collection he has full r200cv rear suspension from two silvias disc to disc and yes we did the posi test--YEs we were drooling over them. cat back exhaust i dont know, but he has a lot of exhausts sitting next to the clips im not sure which is which, but the cool thing is that all these cars have those funny rice rocket things going on with thenm, like funny headlights, short shifters, big mufflers, headers-almost all of them, some had rims, its pretty cool..

the spot isnt a chop shop at all, it is a bit shady though, were are in oysterpoint, south san francisco. the starion guy is a cross dresser and god its funny, he wears a pink flame hat! but in his defence, he custom grinds his own starion cams and he is dyno proven, but dont bend over in front of him everyday is an adventure. ps. you dont want s15 rims, they are pretty ugly and rare at the same time, which means that you only get two rims(front cut) they are ugle, and you it will be very hard to get the other two. and they are 16x6.5....

how the heck did i mess this entire thread until now!? anyways wow, more info please and please keep us(me) updated, im interested in this swap as well, man thats a motor i wouldnt mind shoving in my little s30, GO!

sanderson headers lab is ten minutes away from our current spot, i just like standing around the front and watching the hot rods roll out, you really have to see them do an exhaust job, they really take pride in tucking that exhaust up in there and enjoy a challenge, as well as challenging your wallet, but hey, they will install the headers and route exhaust beautifully, and they are the only place i know that has 3" in stock!

muscle cars all day long, sell em cheap, but by cheap we mean "cheaper" starion guy always has fixer uppers and used up race car chassis over there, mostly starion stuff, hes a cross dresser and its insanely funny to watch a man in a dress with a boob job do a turbo install, insanely funny, hes still gross, ill take a picture of him, i have to do it before we leave. the front clips are all for sale of course, front clip man has a lot of silvia motors and trans and rear ends, im sure i could get you a deal on those but i think shipping would eat up the savings real quick.

right now shop im out is in transition state, we currently doing mechanical and body in a converted warehouse we share with other mechanics and bodymen. new guy comes in, and all of the sudden we have front clips o plenty!!!! s13-14-15 all day long type r right hand drive the rims from all the clips various ricer mufflers seats, dashes man its great, were like the fast and the furious in here now, but with more muscle. chevelles on one side SCCA spec starions on the other and in the far corner, it FRONT CLIP MAN... man i love cars.

i ran a solid mount behind my four speed v8z for a while with no problems, then after a few months, the problems started. driveshaft bolts would come loose every week and once they snapped. once i had driveshaft bolts back in, snapped the mustache bar in two. renew mustache bar bushings with poly and try it again. snapped bolt to said solid mount. new bolts lets try it again, plus strap the nose down per jtr method with a snubber in the trans tunnel over the nose. X-member split in half. weld it back up. split it again right now the middle in a different place. no solid diff mount for me.

how come you guys get the cool ride, i got the two seconds of half throttle scaredy cat ride, but i did get to feel his car out, its very nice, i forget that feel of the v8 torque in a tin can.

i need some advice on my turbo project...
fl327 replied to S30Z Bushido's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
would you have rebuilt the motor either way? i would completely dissassemble the bottom end and do a good investigation, if you can get away with a re-ring and .010 bearings thats normal i think, and worth it to me to get the motor rebuilt, at any extent, you should tear that sucker down and see whats really going on. -
im wondering more about that v-clamp thing at the end of your turbo, how does it work, does the downpipe go directly to the back of the turbo and gets clamped down.?? i have seen that v-clamp before and it looks cool.

i thought 78 only had five speed and r200, or auto

i would recommend. 3" exhaust intercooler big fuel pump any of the throttle body swaps out there boost sensitive fpr 91 octane and about 10-12psi depending on how good your boost controller is, 8psi max with no ic at 12 psi and a lot of tuning you will be close to 250 at the wheels, with the stock turbo i wouldnt go much higher than that, it just becomes an oven at psi much higher than 14psi.

do you mean ballast resistor. when i went with that module on my 73,i left it in and did all the other wirign to make it run first. i never did get around to bypassing it, you could just get it to run first with that resistor, then try to bypass it, i dont think you will fry the module because zx cars dont have a resistor there.

hey right now im looking at purchasing a weird set of hybrid turbos, its a t04/t25s that has a lot of ceramic parts in it, and a water cooled center section. it has .81 ar on the compressor, and .42 on exhaust side, watercooled centersection, and ceramic coated wheels and bearings, its coming out of a front clip that the man is upgrading the snails to a big single unit on. they looked stock t25-3ish at first to me, but then i looked at his turbo and looked at mine and saw compressor side was definitely a lot bigger. clip has 50k on it. what do you guys think this turbo would be like on a L6 turbo motor? im only going to use one with internal wastegate set at 10 psi. hope i hear cool stuff.

i was reminded that i used to have a muscle car last night, we got my buddies gt500 clone to do its first powerbrake, and it reminded me of the pure nasty fury of a v8, man v8s are fun..

wondering if anyone is running one and if they notice a difference performance wise, when i finally replaced my 02 i noticed that at cold start, it takes a minute or two for the o2 to start leaning out my idle, and for the first minute it will idle a little rough, and i dont mind this all that much, but i like the idea of my o2 metering me lean right off the bat at startup, and was wondering what other characteristics that a 3 wire would have that would justify me breaking out the funny socket....

heres the killer, this is with 3.90s, short tires, and 80mph minimum speeds...im happy about getting this mpg, but if it got 15mpg i wouldnt care, i like driving and owning this beast and this makes it even better. just tuned it to max, from plugs to afm, new O2- and im ready to fly...

happier than a clam, with a new 44.8 mile a day commute i made three round trips on five gallons of gas and still have fumes to carry me to the gas station! yippie!

i just think its not that good of an option, coming from the American perspective of motor availability, i mean, man the rb motor should have come overseas with the z31, theres no doubt it would be just about the only swap i would be into right now if it did. sr20det should have come here early, its really a shame that everywhere else in the world these motors are a commonality and swapping them just takes time, not overseas hookups and international relations just to get peak power out of a jspec motor. its really sad i think, im not gonna knock the sr20det swap anymore, i think its a powerhouse, but fromt he US standpoint, its just not worth it to me because of parts availability, true enough, where there is a will there is a way, and if you want to do something, i believe nothing can stop you, but you do have to take into account the what ifs. i mean, you build these fantastic cars to drive em like a maniac right? I gotta agree with sleeperz, theres a million other options that are either just as good or better than the sr20det, but that motor is simply amazing.
