  1. no way an rb26dett or an sr20det swap is ever going to be cheaper than the l28et swap, cant be. a front cut runs you avg. 3k for the four, and 3-???K for the rb motor. the joy of having a very high tech motor under your hood is nice, but its an expensive game you play with those motors. true, my aspirations come way short of 10 second quarters on my daily driver, but i do have a 14 second car that gets 25mpg and more on the freeway, and gets rubber in third, and it cost me about 4k or so and im getting 190-215? rwhp, and thats enough to make me happy while i graduate to the next level of this fuel injection plus turbo thingee...
  2. sounds like a 3.90, grab a 3.54 out of any 75-78 280z with an r200 in it, and youll be happy again.
  3. whoops, dont know if you got a deal, how much you get it for?
  4. dont worry about the casting numbers if its as clean as you say, i dont think it matters. a four bolt is great if your running boost or squeeze or going to stay at a high rpm for a long time, like in autox, otherwise, a two bolt in that kind of shape like you describe will be just fine, is it forged steel or cast crank. i had a 327 two bolt main with the obligatory forged steel crank, beat that thing senseless, and ran 100 shot on it on a few occasions. i dont think you will have reliabilty issues at all, knowing what it is would be nice, but you can measure bore and stroke since its dissassembled and know what your running with, besides who cares about where it came from, its going in a car where it was never offered as an option anyway!
  5. also check where bleeder screw whether bleeder is on top or bottom, you may have the calipers on wrong sides.
  6. i think you left it in too long and messed up something really bad, youre only supposed to useit until the car gets warm, then immediately drain. i wont use flush at all, i will use cheap oil and drain it a couple times to flush a motor.
  7. one of the reasons i LOVE my 280, no guessing, i want a door, im going to any jy and grabbing one, same with dashes, consoles, door panels, windows, hatches, locks, trannies, headliners, motors, oh yeah baby r200s, yeah baby. oh yeah. he's c-walking, oh yeah, hes doing the 280z-walk god i used to my m21.
  8. hey z rated, the guys gals and me are gonna be in las vegas in a couple weeks after finals let out, trying to do it real big, buffet and gamble like soldiers, rice rocket equipped of course, like a true soldier, my turbo tank is ready...
  9. late night writing a paper in sfsu's famed 24 hour computer prison complex, i started looking for boost wondering if any of guyz have dealt with this guy, he seems cool, price is right, shipping is 8 bucks flat anywhere, and he will cut you a deal off ebay. thoughts of sds and big intercoolers began to dance in my head, its that time of the year isnt it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1873143648
  10. they should only go on one way. its good to ask questions, its better than making a mistake you could have easily avoided right?
  11. dont use the spade connectors, you are asking for trouble if you do that,
  12. judging from the era of that car, im gonna say its a scarab heck yeah.
  13. i would change out the rubber hoses, turbo should be fine if its new. try turbohoses.com, those are hoovers hoses, really good quality.
  14. tps? air flow meter leak? efi ground? check the tps, it likes to mess with you. i cant think of anything near the fan clutch that would cause that.
