  1. I couldnt read what Hobart had to say but Ive been in the metal fab business for 25+ years and have never known any experienced professional welder to drag a bead.
  2. I have pics but I'm a computer spaz and dont know how to post them.Compare seat dimensions to be sure the new model isnt wider.
  3. Ive always gone with the push in both mig and tig.Exception would be mig on a vertical weld where I point the tip up and weld down.
  4. I put some Sparco Torino's in my 240 last year and they fit without touching the doors. For some reason I had to use a power pac to push the tranny tunnel in a bit to have room for the back adjuster on the drivers side only.
  5. Let me know what t he flow results are,I havent retured mine yet.Ive been dickin around trying to get 6 used injecters that work but have only come up with five so far.By the way, Whitch Hunter Performance has been great at cleaning/teasting the units Ive sent them.Gordon checks them the day he recieves them and gets right back in touch with the results that same day.Excelent service!!!!!
  6. Yes Gordon at WitchHunter is a great guy to do business with.
  7. Never mind, got my answer. They're a banjo style fitting and a vg30det turbo uses the same part.
  8. liquid cooling port? Thought they were NPT but no go.
  9. The cleaner you can get the weld area the easyer and better it will weld for you.I'd put a 2" sanding disc on your angle grinder and clean the area down to good metal. The plastic wheels can leave some shiz especially at the seam between the two pcs your welding.I like the epoxy spray paints, they seam much more durable than std spay paints. How about retapping that capture nut to the next size up,even if you go sae on the threads.we wont tell
  10. thanks man that gives me ammo to replace my nonreturable parts.
  11. Let me know what you find.I havent sent mine back yet and I'll be needing to install something soon. Thanks
  12. Ive made the same mistake,I wasnt aware that there were two sizes available and just ordered the Merkur injectors. They're Motorcraft units and look exactly like those with the numbers jvanen mentioned..DOH!!
  13. Track down pics of the green 240 convertable that was at MSA's show. Pierre Z did the work and It was by far the best looking convertable Ive EVER seen.
  14. I just finished grinding the exhaust manifold to fit the E sized turbo and it looks like I took a strong 1/8" of stock out and with a 3/16 spacer,I'm left with a shy 1/8" clearance.Since you have to install longer studs anyway,I would go with a 3/8" spacer and dont grind anything. There are some company's seeling turbo exhaust flanges used to make a turbo header that might work well as a spacer.
  15. I'm doing the same hybrid right now too.Ive made a 3/16" spacer and will also grind some off the exhaust manifold. Is yours also hitting the intake?I had to rotate the compressor and the center section to get things configuered right. Now I also have to install longer studs.Did you stick with an internal waste gate?I had to hack the mount bracket and reweld it along with changing the angle of the arm off the gate.I didnt know it was going to take this much modifying to get it to fit right.Oh well I think ive got it ready to go now just need the longer studs.....What other mods are you doing along with the turbo?I'm going with a Wolf 3D ems,60mm TB,440cc injectors, custom D/P huge I/C with 2.5" plumbing and a Turbo-X bov. good luck and let me know how it all works out
  16. Ive sumped 2 tanks with no problems. All I did was wash them twice and stuck a shop vac into the opening for the sending unit and removed the cap.Scariest part is cutting the tank for the sump, once the tanks cut it wont explode.Give it a thorough clening and it will be safe.If you choose to pay someone,I'd go to a fab shop over a radiator or muffler shop anyday..
  17. I just purchased the Wolf3d system and will be installing it with 370cc injecters,60mm TB, T3/T04E ,Big-arse I/C and a new DP.Cant wait.....
  18. Are you talking about the Merkur injecters?I just ordered a set and I'm glad to see this post before I tried to install mine. Thanks
  19. Ya that frickin spacer got me on my swap too. After 2 clutches(didnt cook them, they just slipped)and almost tossing the new alum flywheel because I thought that it must be the problem I accidently banged the end of the crank with a used steel flywheel and this thing drops off tha motor onto my chest.Very frustrating.
  20. Dzus fateners remain visible and are a quik removal type fastener.I would think you'd want something that can be covered with bondo so the 1/4 looks finished.
  21. To me,adding a new liquid cooled turbo housing is a definate upgrade.
  22. If you have a welding machine you can lay some small X's of bead in the streched area this will tighten things up some.If you go too far,a hammer and dolly on the weld beads will remove some of the welds stress and relax the metal. When you get it right,grind/sand off the eccess weld. This works very well but there is definatly an art to it.
  23. for upgrade and am wondering if anyone has had a good experiance with a turbo builder and would recomend them.I'm looking for the usual T04 upgrade and add water cooling ect...Thanks for any advice
