  1. Great stuff guys. I'm super excited to try it all out. Before I can do that I have to get the car running again. There is an unknown ignition problem. I have a thread going in the engine components ignition/electronics section. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the insight guys. All the pics are of the left rear. Non of the front. I have raised it up and driven around. Still to stiff, springs Definetly have to be replaced. I took these springs to a shop and measured the rates. 200 250 sounds like it will be a good combo. I think the clunking is from the struts not being tightened all the way down from the top. I sat in the hatch and had my girl friend drive around the block. I could see the top of the struts moving up and down. When I tighten the bolt on top it just spins, I think the whole strut is spinning in the tube. I tried putting a rag on the strut then hold it with plyers and tighten, but it still spun.
  3. B got 5.46 volts with key on. + coil post to chassis ground is 10.5 volts i could not get any reading from the red and green wires at the distributor. even while twisting what is ZX FSMs? what is a pick up coil and how do i replace it?
  4. my car is not enjoyable to drive due to the harsh suspension. I have sectioned struts in front and non in the rear. Cosmo coil overs. springs are 280 fronts and 336 rears. 205/50/15 225/50/15 tires. Stock sway bars. I think the struts are from a first gen mr2 either koni or tokico non adjustable. on the freeway the car is rocking front to back. When I hit bumps on the freeway the entire car lifts off the ground, and street bumps rattle the whole car. I was thinking of ordering a set of eibach springs in a street spec, 250 200? 8 or ten inch? here are some pics, all are of the rear suspension, which is not sectioned. there is a 2-3" spacer in the bottom of the strut tube holding the strut up. sus2 is suspension with no load, this is the top hat? sus1 is the suspension under full load, car on the ground, twelve threads at the bottom sus3 is the bottom collar with no load sus8 is car on ground, does this look like it will bottom out or coil bind on bumps? sus9 is a big bolt? sus6 is the height i think looks good, or maybe a half inch lower sus5 is the height of the car with the settings of pic sus8 and sus1 i can post other pics if they would be helpful. thanks for any suggestions
  5. Should the B be getting full battery power? When the ignition is on right? For the red and green wires, I put the ohmmeter on both connections at the distributor and got 0 reading. From the red wire to a chassis ground I got some reading, I will verify that number soon.
  6. setup: 72 240z with L28 and L28 dizzy, brand new MSD blaster 2 coil, new NGK plugs problem: car is not turning over I can only hear the starter going when I turn the key. I plugged in a light between a plug and wire to see if it would flash while cranking. No flash. I thought the "matchbox" ignition module went out on the dizzy. I switched to a HEI conversion but still the same problem. I followed the installs that I found online, still confused on the short black wire (goes to noise reduction unit? dont have one) and the green/white wire (goes to the positive terminal of the coil?). There is power going to the positive side of the coil when the ignition is on the on position. I do not know how to check if there is power going to/from the HEI and dizzy. attached are two photos of the HEI install, one of the IM (ignition module) unit and the other of the connections at the dizzy, and a short video of the car trying to start 123.MOV
  7. Pleadingbark did you go with the 225/50s all around? How is the fitment in the fenders? Setup looks good. Any more pics?
  8. That is a good looking Z. Super clean. Wheels look great and I think the height is good. If you go lower will you have to camber in the rears and roll fenders if you haven't already?
  9. I only saw one car with shakotans at JCCS and didn't notice any with real hayashis. The rotas were on a 510 4door and were the 7x15 ones. I thought it looked really good.
  10. I can't wait man, get those on the car so we can see! Good looking wheel In your estimation what would a 225 do on a 9 inch wheel? I see slight bulge on yours and that's 8 inch right? Maybe 9 would go just go straight up?
  11. Looks good man. Can you take some pics down the side to see how much they poke out? I want to see these with 225/50s next. Delorean?
  12. digga-damn its gonna look good. Im pysched for you man.
  13. I'm sure they will look great. But I need to confirm with some pics. What color did you get? Bronze on white looks soooo good. Size and tire size too.
  14. thanks for the pics of the rims. I am suprised at how well the 9s fit. I was expecting super poke out back and not fitting in the front at all. the stance looks good and car seems pretty clean.
  15. Reggg, what size wheels and tires? looks like 15x8 and 205 50 all around? i would appreciate anymore pics, you are the first Z ive seen with these rotas.
  16. I think they look awsome. When konig copied this design I bought a set. I'm glad I get to see Zs and other cars with good lookin rims on them. Copy or not, if the owner is happy then go for it! I want rota shakotans!
  17. hey Rebekah what size tires are those? fitment looks real good.
  18. hey inZane, those rears in the pic do not look like a 9". I thought a nine inch rim whould sit flush with the fender. what size tires are in the pic? whatever the size the car looks good and the stance in awsome. also, for everyone else. On ebay now there are some staggered Rota Shakotans 8x15 and 9x15 for like $720. someone please buy these and put on car and tell me how they fit on stock fenders and what tire size. and pics of course
  19. if and when you guys look up the travel distance of the 8'' springs will you post that up? also, i have 280f and 336 rear spring rate and it is almost unbearable on bumps. on the freeway it bucks and porpuses and the whole car will jump off the ground if im going fast enouph and hit a good bump, like a bridge to freeway transfer. no fun
  20. What would be a good tire for this setup? I really like my 225/50/15 but that might be too big for the 9 inch width. So 215/45 with a stretch? I would prefer not.
  21. thanks for posting the pics up. please repost with the 225/50 on. i know it will better. I really want to put 15x9 with 0 offset on my Z. i have coilovers but i am still worried about the back spacing. how much clearance in the back do have between the supsension and the wheel?
  22. i have 205/50/15 up front and 225/50/15 in back on the same rim. the offset on all rewinds is 0, which is a good offset for our cars. you can check my profile for pics of how mine looks, and if you want i can take pics other pics and send them.
  23. both are good news, I will try that fitment guide. lorenzo, is the car your talking about an S30?
