MSA springs?! or Tokico's springs?!
proxlamus© replied to proxlamus©'s topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
according to Arizona Z car's site.. they mention it will not drop the ride height on a 240Z... BUT on a 280Z it will lower the car 1.5" inches! Not bad! Thanks for all of the input guys!! Really appreciate it! -
hehe congrads.. good luck on the proj!

These are the stock cam specs... http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm Sure does look like the N/A cam is a bit more different.. the cam lift intake on the N/A cam is 7.35 compared to the turbo which is 7 intake & exhuast duration is 248 compared to the turbo which is 240 Lobe centers are ALL basiclly 109 except the P90 j cam which is 110 Valve lift intake 10.4 and the turbo is 10.0 Valve lift exhuast 10.5 and the P90 j cam is 9.9 So there isnt MUCH of a difference....

MSA springs?! or Tokico's springs?!
proxlamus© replied to proxlamus©'s topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I guess i havent.. time to start searchin! thanks! -
i just bought some new tokico 5-way adjustable struts.. new sway bars.. and urethane bushings... and I am interested in a new set of springs.. MSA springs are about $100 while the Tokico's are around $250! So just curious what people are running and if there are any huge differences?! seems MSA is you get what you pay for.. but the tokico's price seems to be you pay for the name.. ArizonaZCAR 180 lbs/in front, 200 lbs/in rear Motorsport Springs 182 lbs/in front, 205 lbs/in rear Tokico Springs 185 lbs/in front, 200 lbs/in rear

outta curiousity... it's a stock cam correct?! not a mild or aftermarket.. N/A cam?!
-
Clifton you run an N/A cam in your 400 rwHP L28eT?!?!
-
my stock 280z N/A engine has a stamp in the engine bay stating 170HP to the crank... which means... with 9psi on my N/A motor.... I SHOULD be running 272HP to the flywheel! Now account the 15% typical drivetrain loss and that means I should have 231.2 HP to the flywheel Bastaad I think the only little flaw I oculd find in the first few posts, was the 280ZX turbo engine was rated at 180 HP to the CRANK! That means at 10psi you should have 302.4hp and with the 15% drivetrain loss .. that means you should have 257.04 HP to the WHEELS NOTE - this is according to Road and Track and Car and Driver ----------------- 0-60 1/4 mile Lat Braking Top Peak Peak Curb Source (sec) (sc-mph) g (sp-ft) Spd HP/RPM TQ/RPM Wght (date) 81 ZXT (AT) 6.8 15.2 89 .78 70 196 126 180/5600 203/2800 3070 CD 5/81 81 ZXT (AT) 7.4 15.6 88 .75 60 164 129 180/5600 203/2800 2995 RT 5/81 ---------------- This equation is somewhat farily accurate within at least 30 horsepower-ish.. LoL... note.. with 14.7 for standard atmosphere is on a PERFECT day at sea level altitude at 15 degrees Celcius.. since I am 5,800 feet up, it is rare to get 14.7psi of standard atmosphere.. or 29.92 in as a barometer would indicate.. especially on a 90 degree day, the actual DENSITY altitude would be like I am actually at nearly 9,000 feet! When I am really at 5,800ft. This is a result of the heat.. blah blah blah.. which thins the air out and would be equivelant to 9,000 ft.. ANYWAY.. that seems about right Bastaad... at 10psi 257rwHP thats about right... right?! LoL havent looked at ur charts yet OK just re-read your posts.... the equation is WRONG!!! LoL.. your right Bastaad.. the equation is bogus!

did you guys buy the TechEdge unit pre-built or did you build it all yourself?! I am interested in a WB02 setup, but I am debating between Innovative Motorsports LM1 setup.. OR.. the TechEdge...
-
WoW!! I wanna see her running!! hehe What kind of cam did you put in your motor?! I have my N/A cam and I am really thinking of upgrading... and i'm looking around for some good specs =)
-
whaa?? the N/A cam is more agressive?!?! I have a turbo on my N/A setup and I am running an N/A cam... are you saying this makes more power than a turbo cam?
-
my car did that when I first did my turbo swap.. check and CLEAN all of the electrical connections with some contact cleaner and try her out... after 30 years the wires and contacts get all coated in yucky green crap and kills the connections...
-
nice numbers!! I want that much!!!
-
Ohh yeh.. Welcome to the boards!!
-
well the power seems to be good.. the turbo should give ya full power to nearly 5,200RPM which is usually the peak RPM in 280ZX's... have you checked the spark plugs to make sure your engine is running ok and not too rich?! any feeling of a mis-fire?

Noisy Walbro pump, How can I reduce the noise?
proxlamus© replied to akeizm's topic in Fuel Delivery
sound deadening blankets.. Maybe DynoMat.. that sound deadening material they use for car stereo's and stuff.. -
Recently my car has been smoking grey/blue BAD upon start up. It starts to smoke after about 2 minutes of warming up and the exhuast pipe is HOT then it burns.... so I assumed some oil was leaking... I assume this is due to mis-aligned valve guides.. OR oil leaking from the turbo charger and sitting in the exhuast pipe... which I am still trying to source down. Anyway here are the numbers for my 1978 280Z N47 and N47 head, with that damn turbocharger.. LoL.. my FSM for my 1978 says it should be between 164psi - 178psi so obviously my rings are a bit worn.. but bad enough to require an immediate overhaul? Good or Bad? Cylinder 1 - 130psi Cylinder 2 - 130psi Cylinder 3 - 125psi Cylinder 4 - 130psi Cylinder 5 - 125psi Cylinder 6 - 125psi
-
whew.. lucky me.. my 1978 280Z already had resistors built in!
