  1. ummm... there is a spacer, correct with the automatic flexplate, but when you remove it you have access to where the pilot bushing should be installed... you did install the pilot bushing in the back of the block right?
  2. Just like Tony D said.. you DONT NEED A LAPTOP!! LoL... Mobythevan (Bryan Mr Kick AS S) uploaded his settings onto my MegaSquirt ECU.. and I drove home with them.. unfortunatly, I don't have a laptop to monitor the settings, or change the fuel or spark maps at any time.. NOW i can.. thanks to Renns (Roger) on the MegaSquirt EFI forums, who wrote a program for the Palm OS, and I used my Sony Clie PDA. There is a real time display, I can log it, and I can change the fuel and spark maps!! How cool is this!
  3. it was easy.. look be less than 10 minutes to drop the oil pump.. and about 20 minutes with the help of Bryan to get the shaft aligned right... make sure the engine is at TDC though =)
  4. Bryan (Mobythevan) has a JSK o-ring fuel rail, and 450cc DSM injectors in his car. He put little o-rings on the pintles to prevent a vacuum leak, and used a custom tie down, to mount that fuel rail and injectors really snug and tightly. Check his gallery for pics of his engine bay =)
  5. good suggestion... but there is NO rust there... only that yucky green/yellow stuff from the seats.. from whatever hay or grass they stuffed in there... =)
  6. Here are some pics of the water-cooled turbo sources.... I tee'd off the thermostat housing using a stock hole and put in a hose! As for the source I tee'd off the coolant fittings for the heater core inside the car, but it comes right before the water pump
  7. well rebuilds can cost as much as $250.. as a new turbo which is actually decent and not a cheapo eBay special will cost around $500... depends on what kind of power you are looking for.. and street driveability or track?!
  8. Ok.. after finally getting everything tuned out perfectly with my car.. NOW it smokes once it warms up.... when i start it, the car runs fine and no smoke, then after driving for a bit and the exhuast is warmed up, it smokes.. white/blue smoke.. BAD... then goes away... my assumption is there is oil coming out of the turbo on shut down, and sits inside the exhuast pipe. Then when I start the car up again and the exhuast warms up it burns.. hence the smoke.. I checked the intercooler piping and no oil residue or anything so i'm not sure if its a bad turbo oil seal or what?!? Help me!!
  9. here's my video.. http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=280Z-Turbo-short on my 3rd clip... when I drive towards the camera u can hear the flutter on my turbo
  10. yep... i bought my assembled MegaSquirt for under $250 and it took one to day to install thanks to Mobythevan, the greatest guy ever!! haha.. But anyway.. it took me nearly 1 week to attempt to get my N/A turbo setup running right.. took less than a day to get MSnS up and running and perfection right out of the box!!
  11. I used the STOCK N/A harness on my car.. and with the help of my FSM and Blue's tech tips page... anyone can use the stock harness..
  12. ok since I have done the swap.. i would advice.. DONT run on N/A electronics.. several people have.. but with a turbo.. im not sure of reliability and power.. for under $250 you can go megasquirt.. and tune it all ya want.. my car ran like crap on N/A electronics.. never again
  13. Click here to watch 280Z-Turbo-short it's a little short and the quality sucks.. but hell.. just made it like 30 minutes ago.. but ehh
  14. bastaad525 the reason why you STILL hear a flutter, with a BOV, is because the spring for the BOV could be too tight... When its really tight, or your DSM BOV was crushed, the spring will open and close, open and close, and open and close really fast. If the spring was loose, the valve will stay open untill the vacuum tells it to close. The Greddy Type S BOV allows you to adjust the spring tension.. and with it really tight, you will hear it flutter, with it loose you will simply hear a Pshhh. I personally LOVE flutter sounds, reminds me of the old Audi Quattro Group B rally car, and the older Subaru WRX's in the WRC =)
  15. yeh basically you will need an 1982-1983 280ZX turbo dizzy... it has the CAS built inside the dizzy... =) So you need to get the dizzy.. and the oil pump/dizzy shaft from the 280ZX turbo dizzy.. because the stock N/A will not fit... You need to remove the N/A dizzy.. and the lower dizzy housing.. then unbolt the oil pump and drop it down. I needed to drop the fron sway bar to pull the oil pump down all the way.... then pull out the N/A oil shaft.. and put in the new turbo shaft... and bolt the oil pump back on.. and swaybar back on... go back up to the dizzy and bolt her up..
  16. Just wanted to let everyone know what a great guy Mobythevan (Bryan) is.. He took his entire sunday to help me out to install MegaSquirt N Spark with the extra code!! Bryan was such a great help and I never could of done any of this without him!! I would like to thank him, and his friend Mike as well for helping out with the install!! Bryan not only let me use his garage and tools for the day, but even sacrificed parts from his own Z to swap over to my car!! Thank you sooo much Bryan!! My mods now.. Stock N/A N47 block and head T3 watercooled turbo from a 300ZX turbo MegaSquirt and Spark extra Pallnet fuel rail 3" stainless steel downpipe Large NPR intercooler 60mm TB 440cc injectors 2.5" intercooler piping DSM BOV Converted over dizzy to an optical 82 280ZX turbo dizzy Ford Taurus electric fan (in front of radiator, behind intercooler)
