  1. That is the one. Like I said VA should have an adapter or a way to use the LS switch. R
  2. You do not want to use that diagram. It is for the vintage air. USE THE COMPUTER TO RUN THE FANS AND AC. The basic concept is the same but using the Corvette tri nary will be way better. HTH, Richard.
  3. If your LS1 computer runs the AC like most do have WS do the wiring, Compressor and tri-nary, VSS and probably a relay to the compressor. There are two wires on the LS (from the relay) at the compressor for the AC, one is power to the compressor the other is ground. The compressor grounds to the block so it should be OK. If it bothers you run the ground to the compressor bolt. In order for the system to work you need to have the LS1 tri-nary switch also installed. This is not hard at all. It needs to go in the high side pressure line, either at the drier or in line on the hose. The rest is done with the computer. Have VA send a drier that is ready for the LS tri-nary or have them send the in line port or adapter for it. I will try to make it make sense. There is a huge diameter wire on the Vintage Air, it normally runs to the AC compressor. We run it to the AC request on the computer harness, which is a little bitty wire, THIS DOES NOT MATTER. All the computer wants to know is 12V for AC request. Once the computer has 12V it will check pressures in the tri-nary switch, engine RPM, VSS, WOT and several other parameters. What this means is the AC will work great and the compressor will last as the computer shuts off the AC at WOT, for those stop light races and over 4500 RPM to save the compressor. Computer also bumps the idle with IAC so when you let off and clutch the car does not die coming to a exit ramp. A few other things it does is leaves the fans off until the pressures come up so the AC gets colder faster. Shuts off the fans over 45 MPH unless the engine needs them, 45mph air is enough for the condenser. I have not bought the JCI compressor and mount yet so I am no help on that. Hope the rest helps, Richard.
  4. Great job documenting and sharing the info with us. Your build is an inspiration for those of us still working. Thanks for sharing. Richard.
  5. Since you are just now done, dare we ask how much did you spend? Net of course, selling camaro shell etc. had to help. I know where I am right now and I have a long way to go. I know you still have some stuff to buy, gauges paint etc. But a ball park would be appreciated. Again, nice job. Richard.
  6. People throw out "my car is fast" all the time, more are full of BS. Anyone who knows much about drag racing can say for sure that anything that runs in the 8s in the quarter is wicked stupid insane fast, very fast. Well done, very impressive. Richard.
  7. So far I have the center section of the 8.8 mocked up. Trying not to spend a billion dollars getting it to go to the outers. Tried to put the T bird Hub in the Datsun hub, fail, not going to fit. So now I am trying to figure out plan B. Motor and trans are ready, no kit yet. Richard.
  8. Looking at the exhaust, past it actually, the Mustache bar looks non stock. Did you swap out the diff too? Just to make sure I understand, the kit purchased was the CXR up to the Y pipe and then standard muffler shop stuff from the Y back to a flow master out the back? Again nice work, congrats. Richard.
  9. First Congrats, major Congrats, you earned them. Second, how loud is it? Third, did the exhaust pretty much fit without too much hassle? You are miles ahead of me. I have a ton of parts and am working on getting the extra 8.8 IRS I had installed in the car. But seriously Congratulations. Lots of work! Cheers Richard.
  10. There is an electronic version of the same set up. It turns wide open with 12V and recirculates with 0. We use them on the 4.6L ford engines as they MUST have flow across the heads. I do not have the part number handy but most parts stores should be able to help you. When I showed up with a PN my guy asked why do you want the expensive one, this is a lot less and does the same thing. 25 bucks or so if I remember right. Might have been from a Ford Ranger. HTH, R
  11. Congrats on the determination to find and fix it. Nothing sucks more than defective brand new parts, nothing. Good job. Richard.
  12. I believe the rear port on the intake is for the booster. The connection should be MAP, manifold absolute pressure, You will need PCV on the 98 engine the PCV is routed through the valve covers and that hose should go to filtered but not metered air and the one on the other side should go to the intake or vice versa. NOT SURE about any of the above but LS! tech has been a big help. I am pretty confident what I stated is correct but trust and verify. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing the pictures. Richard.
  13. Getting closer by the day! Keep up the great work and pix, it will save all of us later. R
  14. Pull the port on the other side of the engine in the head if there is room for the sender behind the header. Or there are companies (speedway?) that made adapters to fit the temp on the block by the crank sensor I think, either way it is under the head. HTH, Richard.
  15. 04 GTO here, bought the F body pan, just because I know it is a proven fit. The intake on the 04 LS1 is an LS6. HTH, Richard.
  16. With them there (as opposed to further back) most driveways and speed bumps should not be an issue. I do not have any marks on my cross member but the exhaust has a few scrapes on my other car. I know you have had initial remorse for the CXR kit do you still? I am still leaning that way, I guess we will know more when you get it fired up and the exhaust is on. Nice work, Richard.
  17. Great work. I just put the LS1 back together for my build, broken valves (3) from the wreck, yes that hard a wreck. Picking up the trans in the morning, bad repair job on the drain plug. New LS7 clutch kit is on the way. Have not started the Z car part of the project yet, I hope to get it on the rotisserie in the next couple of weeks to do rust repair and sub frame install. Other projects and life get in the way for all of us. Glad to hear the CXR stuff is working out. I have NONE of the conversion stuff bought yet but the CXR stuff is still in the lead. All the exhaust done is the major factor. I plan to start a thread after labor day. Again nice work keep us updated. Richard.
  18. 04 GTO here as donor and NO way that pan will fit. Bought a camaro pan w/pick up on eBay and windage tray from Summit. GTO pan is in the parts washer and will go on eBay soon. Have not tried the Vette pan, I went with what was for sure to work. JMHO, Richard.
  19. Getting there faster than me. All I have is a lot of parts, no thread yet LOL. Keep working and posting. It is motivation for the rest of us. Richard.
  20. I just took everything out of the donor and used it. Figured why muck it up. Staying pretty stock on the engine so all good. JMHO, YMMV. Richard.
  21. Nice numbers just as it is. Going to be crazy fast with a turbo. Nice work and nice documentation for the rest of us. Thanks Richard.
  22. Yea, I was afraid of that. Looks like the Johns Cars mount for the compressor is the way to go. Thanks Richard.
  23. Take this for what it is worth, PUT THE PUMP IN THE TANK, if you can. We have been at this for a while as TZ knows, every time we mount an external pump we regret it. JMHO, YMMV, Richard.
  24. http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/images/Dimensions/142R_143R.GIF Not sure if this will fit with the mounts or not but it would be nice if it did. They are close to me so I may go and get one and see if it fits when I get to that point. R
