Help with a business class project...plz read
innerware replied to ASA240Z's topic in Non Tech Board
I have a 77 280Z a 78 280 Z Both with original motors. I live in Oakland CA I plan on making the 77 faster and better handling. Oh, and I suggest using a free polling software online. I just used it and has hybriders fill it out. Check out surveymonkey.com You can format the questions the way you want and when it is all said and done you will have graphs and such to show your professor. It is easy, quick and free. -
Does the car even have limp mode. It is just a guess. But wouldn't the fuel regulator keep the pressure the same? I'd say get a guage in there and check to make sure the pressure is what it should be. It is most likely not the pump though IMO. But i am always wrong.

While most higher dollar fixes I will try and do myself (suspension, brakes, bushings). Mostly to save money. Or tune ups etc because they charge way to high for something so simple and fun. I have never liked to change my own oil. I have done it for a while. But the time it takes for me to gather my stuff (apartment living) and perform the deed and then take the oil in and have it recycled I am better off taking it to a quick change place by my work. It costs under 30 bucks, they can check my tranny fluid and diff fluid. Top off other fluids too and I'll be out of there in less than ten minutes with clean hands. I've just found that with the Z and the wifes Corolla it is just easier for the most part. Since I have the new Volvo, I will be bringing it either to a Volvo shop or doing it myself. If I bring it to a quick change place than I will bring my own filter, oil, seals for the drain plug and filler cap etc. In fact it is scheduled for a oil and tranny change monday. (new car I want to have checked out by Volvo guys just so I know) But all the tune up stuff I will do. Cap, rotor, air and fuel filter, plugs, wires. So, I'm not afraid to get dirty. I love it in fact. Just not for an oil change.

Davy, do you need a whole door or just the door panel skin? I am in Oakland and now have two Z's that are non op. So, I should have a door panel for you. And if you could wait like a month I could lend you a whole door, panel and all. Let me know.

Wasn't talking to anyone in particular. I am always skeptical over new products that don't offer any real pics though. Being in product design and development I know for a fact that this is an easy way for companies to try and prove a concept before anything working is produced. I have friends who do it for a living creating solidworks animations in the initial early stages of products. Untill I see someone driving in one and personally attesting to its granduer I will be in doubt. Until then it is as close to science fiction as light travel.

My boss gets busy and forgets things. That said I had the oil changed in his Honda Odysee mini van. I think it had like 20+ thousand on it since the last one. Other than the oil being dark (real dark) it was fine. Car is bullet proof.

Until I see one I will be skeptical. Any site that has nothing but 3d solid modeling instead of real pics makes me wonder. If it works then it would indead be awesome. I guess it could have some sort of regenerative compression when going down hill and braking too.

That thing is just screaming " stuff a V8 in me PLEASE" It would be such a sleeper aye?

Funny thing is that here I know very little about cars and you all are masters. I love it here. I love reading about what you all have done etc. Now that I have gotten the Volvo I have been reading some volvo forums and for the most part are all nice guys but full of people who don't work on cars. Sure there are a bunch who do but not like here. I know a lot of the answers just from learning as much as I have here. I actually feel knowledgable. At least a bit.

It says 30 pound savings. Only weighs 7 pounds

It was full. We had two half kegs and went through one the following night and only just tapped it that afternoon. Those things aren't light. And we had no music on and the windows were open. It was like aliens beamed it up or something.

from what i have rad the tranny is good for 300 and yeah that is about it. The new computer though is like 950 bucks and since it will be the wifes car for a while I highly doubt she wants it. Although I am going to keep it in mind for when I get it. Thanks for the explanation.

So let me tell you the difference between volunteer and draft

I'll paypall you 20 bucks if you **** in the box and take a picture for me. -
What is an 18t and a MBC?

Just make sure the magnet isn't really powerful as it will still stick over filler. A cheap refrigerator magnet is good. One that barely holds anything to the fridge.

It is rated from all the sources I have read as 222 horses. They did a write up on the 850 this month in Grassroots Motorsport Mag. Just so happened to have a big 6 page on it and what to look for and what to do to get more horses out of it. Good artical. I thought that after the 70's except for some imports all the horsepower that were rated had to be at the wheels and not at the crank. Net vs gross or something like that. Eitherway it moves a bit fast. Me likey.

So here is a pic of my new toy. Well, really the wifes new toy. But I'll get to enjoy it. 76,000 miles on it and it was taken better care of than I could have imagined. It is a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo. 222 horses to the wheels and 212 foot pounds of torque. It is a bit heavy at 3300 pounds though. I have all the paper work on the car and all the receipts. Thanks for everyones help in convincing me Volvo's are great cars.

Thanks all. Yeah, you all get first dibs on anything I end up bringing to market. Although I hightly doubt that it will happen. Would be nice though. And the sound price thing. I know some spend top dollar on sound. Like crazy money$$$. Those people are in a world of there own though. Looks matter less and less with those than with the familly of four that wants surround sound and has to put it in there family room. So that is kind of the market group I am going for. Really trying to hit apon all non-audiophiles in general. While I am not going to redesign the interior of a speaker and make it sound better. ( I am no engineer and I know it) I want to make it fit better within its environment. I think by doing so will allow us to regain a bit of living space and have less distractions of the technical type. I might be crazy but I feel that a lot of us would like it if we could have the best of both worlds. Thanks again everyone. I have gotten overall over 70 people to take the survey. I am sure you all contibuted to it a ton.

question about Volvos (thought I would ask)
innerware replied to innerware's topic in Non Tech Board
Thanks for all the help guys. I just bought a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon today!!!! Yeah! It has 73,000 miles on it. Was only a California car, and owned by the same person who works and lives in the same town. She is an architect and he a cardiologist. They took remarkable care of the car. Everything was done by the book and he has all the records to prove it. Timing belt just done at 68000 miles as well as a tranny fluid change and new tires. Boost held great and there were no rattles at all when driving. It is Champaign in color (not first choice) but looks good. No fading at all and just one little small dent / scratch ( foot long). Interior looks great although the front seats are a little worn. Everything else works and it was 6,000 bucks. Not bad. About 800-1000 under Kelley blue book. Thought I would share. I pick it up next weekend as I don't have all my money yet and left a deposit. (transfered money from Orange account). So I will post pics next weekend. It will be the wifes car so no big upgrades or anything. I think she will like the 222 horses it puts out. She'll probably never take it out of economy mode...LOL. Good thing is I drive where ever we go together though. I now get the 97 Corolla (her old car). Not bad, it drives great and is in good shape. Guess it means the Datsun gets stripped and I put my two Z's together into one good one. I'll have spare parts for sale soon. Thanks again all, Kyle -
Thanks Cody!!

Hey all. Since you are all like family and I respect pretty much everything I read here I thought I would ask for some help. I am getting my masters degree in product design and I am working on my creative work/thesis. If you all could take this survey of 9 questions for me I would most definately appreciate it. Other than the love of cars and Z's I think you all represent a good cross section of the American population. That said thanks and here is the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=695361386083

Forgot to add. 11. When a full half keg of beer walks off between noon and 12:10 on a Saturday when we were still drinking from it. It was on the back deck and we were just inside the house.

1.When you walk into the kitchen to find your cat eating cockroaches. 2.When the grease from the previos tenant is so thick above the stove that it is actually dripping. 3. When your neighbor verbally assaults you and your roomates and you almost have to shoot him with your now retreived 9mm untill the cops come and it takes 5 of them to wrestle him to the ground. Apparently this is his strike 3 and it is bye bye for a while. Either way he was going somewhere for a while. 4. You end up helping out the building management sweeping water off of the roofs because they were fermented pools of water and garbage. 5. You can be as loud as you want and it doesn't matter. 6. No one else speaks english all around you. 7. Your car is broken into and old sandels are taken. 8. The cockroaches are so bold as to just cling to the walls on the outside of the apartments in full daylight. 9. You watch people use the ground outside as the garbage can. 10. When people are going door to door selling corn on the cob, cd's, and miscelanious other crap.
