  1. Well I'm not excited yet, but I'll hold off on the lawyer for now (pricy bastards..) as I've talked to the guy again. His story goes like this; He left (him and the girl having problems, ect) and went to the city for a while. Then, after she told the cops he threatened her life, well.. they caught up with him. Guess she didn't realize the severity of what she was saying, and when the police caught up with him (last week I guess..), the threw him in jail. (domestic issue, cops take maters into their own hands regardless of the fact she said "I don't wana charge him") So.. he made bail about a week ago, and has now got a lawyer, yada yada. Told me today (saturday) he has a court order allowing him to remove ALL his/customers property and equipment from the garage. He also sais he's got his 'new' shop all ready to go, and is hoping to have evrything moved and setup by the end of next week. This means MY engine should be ready to go by next weekend.. if all goes well. If not, I'm told I can go get my things.. I just have to get HER to open the garage for me; she changed the locks, and had the alarm system removed.. hmm.. Maybe I DON"T need her to open the garage...
  2. I don't know if thats such a good idea.. it would work no doubt, but it might run the pump dry when the last bit of fuel is getting 'drained' and kill the pump.. just a thought..
  3. Agreed.. I'd say the mods should just delete this post, or at least move it to the 'recycle' forum.. I just don't see what usefull info this post adds to the site..
  4. I say go for it! I'm a Volvo guy too, not that I can afford one for a daily driver.. A friend of mine is currently driving an 89' 760 turbo and I'm always impressed with the 'uhmph' that little 2.3 has.. especialy in a heavy pig car! His 94' 850 was even more powerfull (2.5 turbo iirc) and I was toying with the idea of sticking that engine in my Z (my friend wrecked the 850 a few months ago; front pass. side smashed, car twisted, but motor is mint) but I figured I could probly do a 302 swap cheaper and quicker.. and as it is, all I can afford at this point is the basic rebuild of my L28.
  5. And after reading that last bit to my girl friend, she gave a loud sigh and when I asked her what was wrong, she said 'nothing'.... Ahh crap..
  6. Ah.. ahem.. triples you can't get working right? Would those be webbers or Mikunis? Any chance you're gona be getting rid of them?
  7. Man.. havn't seen one of those for a while.. most of the 'C' trucks up here roted away years ago! You say THAT needs body work?!?! heh.. you should lift that sucker a bit imo, but even as is... Nice truck man.. but, ah..did you get a gas card with it?
  8. Heh heh.. it's just getting better all the time... I get home from work today, and wouldn't you know it; there's a message on the machine from the guy!! Here's the good part.. "Hey, uh, I guess you talked to **** and he told you the mess I'm in.. um, don't worry too much about it man.. I ah, got your cam and stuff here in the city (city being Toronto, over an hour south of me) and I have a new shop lined up.. should be in by this weekend, or monday next week. Give me a call tonite." He left a phone number, but it was NOT the same number that showed up on my call display (I will never bitch at the girlfriend again for the extra $5 on the phone bill for that service!) and I called it, but got no answer. Last I heard, his 'new' shop was somewhere here in town, but now I don't know if that's the case.. I also don't know if by 'stuff' he means evrything, or just the parts he had to order (oil pump, gaskets, cam/lash pads, ect) and I'm starting to wonder if this is ever going to get straightened out... If I don't get a hold of him tonite and get the low down, I think I will look for a lawyer tomorrow and see what my options are..
  9. Well I'll vote for the Lincoln. I have a little 110 lincoln (awesome little thing..) And that one on ebay, well my boss has the exact same unit at the shop. Great machine, and I love using it.. lays good beads, is really adjustable, and never had any problems at all. We were welding 1/4" 2x2 sq tubing today with it; better and faster than my little 110 welds body steel! Figure it's been used in a machine shop environment for the last 4 years; it's been beat up a little and gone through probly thousands of miles of wire. NO problems. My boss recently bought an accesory for it called a 'spool gun' (?) It's a little spool of wire mounted on a tiny motor with a triger (drives the spool), and some wires/hoses runing to it that conect to the front of the welder. Change the gas to straight argon, and bam: You can wled aluminum. A friend of mine has a miller, and does nice work with it so I'd say it's a good machine too.. I just don't have expiriance with it, and I'm not sure if you can get that same attachment..
  10. I've lived in $hity appt's and nice ones.. seams to me that the more of a hole it is, the less the landlords care about what the poor saps living there complain about. I too have had the urinating refrigerator, bad plumbing (like a waterfall in the middle of the night from the celing of my closet.. pipe broke in the appt above me), windows that are drafty/not screened.. Mold in the walls, just inFESTED with various bugs, ants, ect.. I wish you luck, and hope you can make their life a living hell..
  11. I was considering making my own.. My 240 bumber (on my 280) was pretty bent and is showing er.. age. I beat it back into shape and cleaned it up ok, but had a thought about just choping the center section out (it's the worst damaged part anyway) and then welding up the insides.. probly sand blast and paint flat black.. I don't have a rear bumper to worry about either.
  12. I've thought about this a bit, and done some diging/reading on turbo'd carb setups.. Pros; can be relativly cheep, and quick. Cons; Hard to tune (have to tune with weather, as with ANY carb) , Lots of tinkering to get proper air/fuel at diferent boost levels, some problems with heat, ect. I'd say the best bet is to go with EFI if you want a reliable (and tunable) turbo charged Z. Or maybe a buick grand national engine.. I think someone did that once..
  13. Personaly, I don't think it'd be worth the hassle.. your not gona pick up that much power unless you get a bigger exhast instaled at the same time and while your at it, do some work on the intake to enable the engine to suck in more air.. on top of that if you can advance the timing a bit, and get a nice free flowing mufler, and you'll start to see/feel some gains.. but just hoking the header to the stock exhast/rest of the car isn't gona do much IMO..
  14. If you're planing a turbo swap, I'd say don't bother with the header.. it's gona be rendered usless in a year when you go turbo.
  15. If you're gona pull it to rebuild, I'd say just swap in another.. depending how availible 5 gears are around you, you'll probly be able to find a used one for well.. cheaper than rebuilding the current one. There's the KA 5 speed (240sx) swap too.. I've got mine together for under $200 now, but there is a bit of 'fiddleing' to make it work... Just a thought..
  16. And the saga continues; Yesterday I hear (through a friend whos father knows my engine builder er..dickhead) that he's in town, was up talking to the cops, and is going to his shop (with police) to remove all his equipment and customers parts/engines. Apparently, he had a few people (customers/friends) with him to help load up, and my help was 'not needed' I thought great.. Now I don't even KNOW where my stuff is gona be at.. My friend keeps saying "No worrys man, it'll all work out. Just wait..youll see" Yah.. it's fine to say that for 2 months and when $hit finally gets right, he'll just say "See?!? I told you it'd work out!" &!(#$%&($#!&%#$ Whatever. It's my $$$ and stuff on the line, and I'm not sitting around waiting for the situation to sort it self out. So.. either way, I had to finish the job I was working on, and I planed to go over afterwards and see WTF was going on. Now I'm really pissed; Fresh tracks in the snow (right up to the garage door) but no truck, no one home. STILL no word from him, and my friend who said he'd call me hasn't yet. I'm about ready to kill someone here... EDIT: Funny how people call you up aftre you've been bitching about them.. My friend just called with some more info; Turns out the guy DID go over yeterday, but (this is good..) because the court order he had only stated 'removal of personal items from house' the cops woudn't let him in the garage at all. So until he gast ANOTHER court order to remove the contents of the garage, my motor/parts are stuck there. And at this point, if I went over to get MY property, I'd get charged with theft. Oh, the cam and all the parts/gaskets are in though.
  17. Well, I finally got off my arse and DID something (Z related) today. I not only got the combo guages in, but I actually took pics too! I ah.. well, had to add a personal touch to the stock oil/water guage, as I have aftermarket ones now; I made that aluminum mounting plate at work yesterday to. It holds the guages and CD player nice, and gives that part of the console a finished look. Till now the CD player was sort of 'floping' around, and there were non functioning lights (seatbelt, fuel) under it. Plastics were all hacked already (previous owner) to the aluminum hides that too. Tony; I'll convert the combo guages file to a .jpg and send it to you tonite. Sorry it's been a while, I've just had.. other stuff to deal with.
  18. White face and backlit; hey thay were $45 at wallmart, I couldn't pass it up.
  19. Yes.. I ah.., changed one of them..
  20. That was really cool! I'll second the go-cart coment.. that would be awesome..
  21. Kinda hard to diagnose without a little more info... when you keep your foot on the gas, does it run well? Or sputter and bog? Does it do it when cold AND warm? Can you drive the car around at all? First thing's I would check are ALL the wiring conections to the AFM, TPS, cold start valve, ect.
  22. I'm having a similar issue with my pickup (93 nissan 4x4) with 2nd and 3rd. I have 275 000 on her though, and I'm just assuming it's worn and there is slop..evrywhere. And yes it's worse in the cold weather. Sometmes I can barely get it into gear. The stock 4 gear in my 280 was the same; The faster you tried to shift, the harder it go to get into gear. My thinking is after a lot of use, the little 'tabs' that the shift rods work on get sloppy and out of alignment a bit..
  23. um.. heh heh.. have you ever looked at a stock Z head? The exhast ports are directly below the intake, on the same side.. seamed to work well enough for the datsun enginiers; They only used the L6 engine for what...15 years?
