  1. I vote disk as well. I had the exact same symptons. Took off the master vac, went to Autozone, got another one, problems gone.
  2. I think you'll do well with a 2jzge. Plenty of people making lots of power on it. Check out ClubNA-t forums. There is a guy on there that sells a Chinese built complete turbo kit for like $1600.00 with many, many satisfied customers and provides what seems to be excellent customer service. Easy 400whp. One of the best bang for the bucks in the Supra world it seems. I myself am going 2jzgte but I if i was to do it again I would go 2jzge since I have modest whp goals.
  3. If you need anything else please don't hesitate to ask. I've been down the same road.
  4. Both conversions will cost a decent sum of money. There is more 240Z/RB installation parts support than 240Z/2jZ which is pretty much all custom. Both engines are great so its could be a toss up there performance wise but you did bring up the possibility of using another 2jz family engine. Taking that into consideration I would give the 2jz a slight edge. N/A 2jz engines are available for pretty low prices compared to 2jzgte's and RB26dett's. Of course you can burn through that savings pretty quickly due to the custom install. If stock parts availability is king, then the 2j wins for me being in the USA. Some will ask what is the purpose of the car. I will ask what do you see yourself driving regardless of purpose? What do you see being under the hood when you day dream about it? If you have a engine in mind then stick with it and move ahead with no need for second guessing. If you don't, then the available 240z/RB install kits would push me into that direction since it possibly can save you some fabrication costs and you get to learn from a lot other people's experiences and know-how. I have found that cost's savings choosing between a less expensive engine (RB25/1JZ) and a more expensive engine (RB26DETT/2JZGTE) can quickly become forgotten about after accumulating parts. Buy the best engine. Not sure if my rambling helps or not but best of luck with with your choice.
  5. For R154 manual tranny guys: 1. Get a JDM 2jzgte auto engine: pull off the tranny and flex plate, install a throughout bearing (from clutch kit below) into the back of the crankshaft 2. Get a R154 tranny from a Mk3 Supra turbo 3. Order a JDM 1jz-R154 bellhousing (check supraforums) 4. Order a 1jz flywheel (driftmotion) 5. Order a complete clutch kit for a Mk 3 Supra turbo (your choice) 6. Pull the bellhousing from the stock Mk3 R154 tranny and install the 1jz bellshousing and clutch kit Now your all good to go to marry the R154 tranny to the 2jzgte. If you get ahold of a Mk4 Supra V-160 tranny then just install the TO bearing and marry the engine and tranny. For 2jzgte/TH400 guys: Talk to some of the Supra specialty shops that specialize in this conversion...Boost Logic, SP, Virtual Works
  6. i haven't installed mine(v-pro) yet, but i think you'll be happy once your done by going v-pro. Set it and forget it. Of course i'm lucky to be surrounded by so many HKS pro tuners out here in los angeles.
  7. i vote for leaving it silver. Car looks great already.
  8. he is a great guy. I was going to have him build me a turbo L-series header years ago.

  12. A link I found showing some really good pictures of the new engine. Also check out near the bottom of the page Nissan's realtime adjustable compression ratio crankshaft technology and the self repairing clearcoat paint. Cool stuff. http://press.nissan-global.com/EN/PHOTOGRAPHS/technology.html#VQ35HR http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/VQ35HR http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/september06/vq35hr/ I apologize if this is an old link repost.
  13. for my friend Mike Kojima. It's for his time attack car... I'm man enough to admit it, I'm a internet link whore http://www.nittotire.com/blog_detail.asp?id=7 http://www.nittotire.com/blog_detail.asp?id=8 http://www.nittotire.com/blog_detail.asp?id=9 http://www.nittotire.com/blog_detail.asp?id=10 John C, The bonus check is hopefully coming around the corner. I'll call about possibly scheduling a visit for the 2jz 240z. I'd like to at minimum get the drivetrain in. Thanks!
  14. My guess would that you could bypass it. You could replace the etb with a manual tb easy enough. The one question would be can you still to use the stock ecu anymore. I'm sure there is a way. There are a few aftermarket ecu's...Motec, Autronic, AEM to name a few, that have the capabilty to control stock etb.
  15. To save you the time of reading all the posts, its a Honda Fit being prepped for the Super Street magazine time attack Nov.8th at Buttonwillow or Willow Springs. I forget which. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=389525&page=1&pp=25

  19. one was the guys that run the datsun resoration parts business..."too something" is their name and the other was the first to my knowledge, the white 280z that was in Turbo magazine years ago. That guy still owns the car and has a Z shop in the San Fernando valley I 've been recently told.
  20. Looks great John. Is that a carb style TB ans XS power turbo?
  21. Looks awesome Zgad! Did make masurements for the mounts that could be duplicated? Also is your 2JZgte a rear sump originally? Most 2jz's I see are front sump but yours looks to be rear sump. Did you move the orginal cross member at all? If not, your new crossmember sits just in front of the original one? Is that correct? thanks, oatmilk
