  1. Hey viocleff, hard to tell from your pics but I think you have your fuel pressure reg. hooked up wrong. Does it have a port on the bottom? thats where the fuel return line to the tank should go, both side ports are unregulated fuel inputs. This is assuming you have a 13101/13109 or similar regulator. Good luck with everything else.. I just went thru pretty much the same thing with my fuel system/turbo swap (aeromotive pieces, stailess steel braided hose etc.) Sam
  2. If the darn things fit in my 280 I would buy them sight unseen just knowing that Ivan was the person whom you got them from just to end this mess.. barring the whole dog chew toy thing of course. In the short time I have known Ivan I have bought a few z items totallying roughly a few hundred dollars(I think I still even owe him around 70 bucks to boot!) and he even gave me a j pipe with a dsm bov because I may have possibly needed it. The header and intake were passed on to me for far less than they wouldve fetched if he had offered them up online to the highest bidder.. He price them according to what he thought was fair. When Ivan needed an engine hoist to drop his motor into his car I loaned him my brand new one, still in the box. no questions asked. I never thought twice about his integrity or weather I would ever see my hoist again. I knew I would get it back in the condition it was loaned and I did. It seems from the correspondance that Ivan has posted and from your previous statements that you have been more interested in publicly flogging Ivan to meet your own ends rather than to enlighten the hybridz community as you have so loftily pontificated. Sam ps Ivan, I'll have to come up some time to get ya that loot.. hitting the track anymore this year? my z is finally running lol.
  3. Have you verified solid oil pressure after warm up? Your head may be starved for oil that has warmed up and thinned out and no longer makes it to the head past possibly worn main or conrod bearings... ( I dont recall if you had repalced all your bearings or just the thrusts) This is one explanation for noisey valve train that was quiet befor warmup. Sam
  4. Does anyone know if the o-ring orails that were being offered had burnished oring pockets? Im curious to know if they were or not or if its even necessary.. I made a barb style raile up for a quickie to go with the stock injectors but when I upgrade my injectors Im planing to go oring and make a new rail. Deffinitly gonna have a buddy burnish the pockets to get the pocket size exact and have nice a sealing surface.. Sam
  5. ug.. chrysler(I think?) 4cyl tubo and a caddy 472/500 out back jfc Sam
  6. Nice info.. I just so happen to have a machineist freind who owes me a few favors.. I seems like sr motor sets with 6 speeds are harder to come by.. I wonder of what the avalibility for just a 6sd. trans would be? Even if it wasnt a feasible option.. just being able to grab a decent trans at the jy for the KAs is a blessing for me.. I fear the worst for my stock 76 4 speed trans after the new tubo motor gets broken in!! Thanks, Sam
  7. well.. back to the bbcaddy and transaxle.... gears can be swapped in that trans so the front of the motor(pullies, water pump etc.) would be the rear most part of the drivetrain.. it has been done before. open the hatch to check your belts.. just one more way to make an extremely rear heavy idea of a swap even more rear biased and even more outrageous(foolish?).. Sam
  8. Awesome idea, Im game.. Hopefully I'll be able to bring up the Z freshly turbo'd and squirted! Sam
  9. Not gonna happen.. maybe next time. Sam
  10. slownrusty: Nice.. Except that dr. phil part.. that guy scares me.. gotta be alien invader, govt missinformation officer or something Sam
  11. No doubt.. turn that fruity thing into a shop rag already! Sam
  12. Ok, Slim chance.. but.. I may be able to make it up there the weekend of the 18th.. If nothing goes horribly wrong, I should have the motor broken in by then... So close I can smell it now.. Sam
  13. Oh, lol... And.. No, the oil pump shaft is giving me grief at the moment.. I have 5 sets of prints for the machine shop(turbo spacer, fuel rail and the exterior gauge pod mounts) and I need to pick up a new slave cyl hose.. other than that all i need is time. Last week of the second job, so this should get wrapped up shortly, if for no other reason than because im tired of saying this should be wrapped up shortly! Sam
  14. Holy cow! joliet.. My mom is in coal city just a few mins down 55 and I'm in Kankakee my self.. Gonna have to finish my heap and get up there! Deffinitly be cool to have someone else close who is into Z's ecspecially since ivan moved farther north. Might bug ya with some vg questions sooner or later also.. Have one sitting in the garage for my brothers 510. Oh, and.. I have 110 right down the road.. its in my gp at the moment and will be in the car full time I'm thinking.. I try not to think about it too much but if i remember its 3.20'ish a gallon... hehe Sam
  15. I cant say that I see anything funny about that.. I've have seen it on semi's and cars that i have worked on.. even when its still under warrenty that sight doesnt bring so much as a smirk to my face. I cant even imagine how i would feel if that was my car much less a car i had just bought and had shipped. Definitely a sad day in mudville. Reminds me of those pics of that wrecked lambo floating around awhile back.. I have way to much respect for the machines to laugh when they're hurting and abused. Sam
  16. Uh-unh.. no way an rb could complement that car and that engine bay the way that terry has dressed that 289 in there.. I dont even consider myself worthy of thinking of another engine in its place, the fact that he could've easily gone with a larger ford motor(302, 351, 429 etc..) -or gawd knows what else...- but stuck with the built 289 is like .. the blues in a picasso or mona lisa's smirk... or even the crazy guitar rifts in boc's dont fear the reaper.. Just perfect. Sam ps.. glad it was at least a semi worthy kill
  17. Ugg Ivan.. Hope this gets resolved easily.. Good thing you saw the smoke/checked the dipstick quickly. I just finished putting a clutch in my brothers car (fuggin honda) and we are all moved into our new workspace (20x42 with power) so I will be back to full throttle on the Z shortly.. only thing slowing me up now is lighting and an air compressor which are minor things really.. Oh, and the other job which I quit the other day So.. I know this is getting to be a broken record, but.. I should be up and running by next week with the new motor. Just have to try not to let the growing motorcycle collection (the GPz1100 week before last and a kawa 500 triple next week) slow me down anymore than it already has.. give me a call sometime.. Are you all moved into your cousins now? we can hook up and I can get you the rest of the loot for the manifolds.. the header looks much nicer all ported up.. hehe A 2" spacer/adapter should be made soon so I can run the t3 on it till I'm able to get a larger turbo. Blah.. didnt mean to ramble quite so much but I havent talked to ya in awhile.. If you can you should swing down, youll be able to check out the 510.. kind of inspiring with the vg sitting next to it. anyway, Talk to ya later.. Sam
  18. Those are also a stock item at autozone. Sam
  19. As for the lug nuts... Thats the inside only wheels of a semi drive axle, the studs that you see are also the nuts for the inner wheel(they are removed with a square drive socket thats fits over the very end of the stud, not sure on the exact size)... The outer wheel would have normal'ish looking wheel nuts. Looks like he also using the brake chambers/shoes to put a "semi" repeatable load on the vehicle with a given psi.. not too shabby Sam Sounds kinda weird saying stuff like that outside of work.. hehe
  20. It would be nice to see a pic of the motor from the differential/output side like Dan mentioned.. Was that a thm425 style trans modified to have an output shaft or just another stlye trans all togeather? RCSNC- Its going into a 86GT. Are there any kits availible for this swap? I know its been done a few times befor but I didnt think there was the support behind it like some of the 350 swaps. Hopefully we'll get some pics up of the project up on here and/or pennocks.. we havent been taking nearly enough so far, thats for sure. Sam
  21. Ahh, thats cool, the turbo bikes seem pretty wild. I dont think its stock but there was kz1300 with a turbo on ebay.. pretty wild stuff. As the tire spinning scary corner stuff, my other bike is a 81 GS650 and the first time I opened up a little bit comig out of a corner I got a little surpise called low end torque.. It was the first we had proerly met lol Little bit of a butt pucker'n experience, having the rear end walk out on me a few inches.. Was the 750 efi also? the afm on mine is nearly identical to the stock one on the Z, pretty wild stuff. Sam
  22. No pics yet but... I picked up a new bike and was wondering if anyone was familiar with the heritage of these bikes? I have found some info on the net but its been limited. So whats the dirt? Im sure someone here has some experience with these bikes. Befor anyone asks, it doesnt have the original fuel injected motor but I do still have all the fi equipment and throttle bodies, there is currently an ltd 1000 motor powering the bike. Thanks, Sam
  23. Funny this should pop up right now.. I'm doin the exact same thing with a 472 caddy motor for a friend but it isnt going into a corvair.. haha Can you say fiero? haha... with a b-i-g b-l-o-c-k Too funny I cant belive what ive gotten myself into lol Pics to come soon hopefully, thm425 (4.1 still attached) is ready to be pulled from the donor car within the next few days and we should be pickin the motor up next week end I love it when my freinds try to 1up my car junkie/project habits.. lol I'm gonna need to raise the bar a little bit.. Im thinking the lt1 into my bros 510 should keep him quiet Sam on a side note.. anyone need any spare parts from an 80 something caddy? we also have a set of brand new bare 4.5 heads that need a good home. Thanks
  24. I picked up timken for my fronts.. with seals it was under 50$ if i remember right(cant find my recipt at the moment).. you can get those at autozone and its one of the better oe replacement bearings out there.. for the rears i went to bumper to bumper for federal mogul bearings.. that one hurt a little bit more coming in at around 140ish. not a bad price for a dam good bearing set, less expensive than the nissan stuff but still priced competitivly with the no name stuff.. I also tried to call vb and ask about and what brand bearings (engine, not wheel) they sell/stock, the customer rep gave me the "we switch from time to time depending on pricing and other factors and blah blah blah.. " I asked what I would be reciving if I ordered them right that moment.. they wouldnt answer.. very un profesional imho Sam
