  1. Hey Shannan, can you spell 'boat anchor'?? Just kidding....gotta get that thing fixed....FYI, I didn't get the Gremlins out of the hotrod, so made two runs and quit...ran my truck and won 3 out of 4 against the cars....go figger..but pls remember what I said about the TV system and adjusting the cable. Wayne
  2. Doesn't sound stupid to me....stranger things happen in this business....as a matter of fact, I did some welding on the door latch...remember, my door wouldn't close right last year? I have another box...I will change it out and see if that does it. Thanks John, weird stuff....see ya later Wayne
  3. Thanks, John...that was my thought and I actually found a loose ground...thought that fixed it, but it came back....will work on it tomorrow.. Wayne
  4. I know, I know...that's an ugly ol' AMC...however, the hotrod is giving me fits...sometimes runs great and then starts skipping, then runs fine, etc....The nice officer who just stopped me for sounding like a race car (go figger ) was sympathetic and let me go with a verbal. Oh well, doesn't matter, I am going to drag it up and see if you folks who have brains that work can help me figure it out.....see ya tomorrow... And a big Y-e-e-e-e H-a-a-a-aw-w-w-w-w for RIP and the folks who helped get him here!!!!! Wayne
  5. Great stuff!!!! That's what it's all about, folks...that's what it's all about... Wayne
  6. Best of luck....Hit 'em hard and make 'em hurt.. Wayne
  7. I've got you covered, Davy....I think you still have my Paypal...Many thanks...you ARE going to get here, right??? Wayne
  8. I'm with quicker240...I'm in for 2 C notes....I also would agree to providing some out of the gate if that is needed. If you can afford it, let's throw some money on this thing and get these guys down here....it'll be a great show!!!! Wayne
  9. Darn, Shannan....that's the PITS!!! Sorry to hear that...you sure you have the TV cable adjusted right? it should be hooked to the part of the carb linkage on the opposite end (bottom) of where the throttle cable is attached so when you pull the throttle back, the TV cable should be pulling toward the front of the car. Was the trans built by a reputable shop or a private citizen? Wayne
  10. Thanks, Guys...appreciate....should be a great day!!! Wayne
  11. I'm with ledphoot, Shannan...it shouldn't shift hard if you have it set up correctly with some w-i-d-e bends in the cable....speaking of cable...be VERY careful how you set up the TV system on the 700R4! The TV system is what runs the line pressure to your entire transmission...if it isn't right, you will fry it the first time you jump on it. The best way to do it is to set it up where you can push the adjustment button and push the slider all the way toward the rear of the car. Get in the car (of course you have already made sure that the carb opens all the way when you floor it) and step on the gas all the way to the floor a couple of times. You should have heard the slider click as it moved out toward the front of the car. The intent here is to make sure that the very second you step on the gas, the TV will move and give instantaneous line pressure. If you need to, give me a call..... Wayne
  12. Ok, gang, I'm back in business...just picked up the hotrod, took a test drive, have all the gears and I'm a happy camper!!! Kudo's to Richard Godley and his folks for busting their butts to get the car back to me...actually in 2.5 days!! For those kinda local folks who don't know, he is a national level Super Gas racer who has also been building racing transmissions for about 142 years or so. ) Hopefully, he won't read this thread...) Anyway, gotta fix my passenger side door so it will close, figure out why I am idling so weird...(I think I know), figure out how to fix the front fiberglass that I crunched when I put it on the trailer, and will be good to go. I REALLY want to try for the fastest drive-in, but at this point, I don't have anyone to follow me with the truck/trailer just in case. Momma may come up Sunday, but she was at the one last March and, for some reason, she thinks the Sat night bash is a guy thing...I got a very quick NO when I approached her about driving the truck/trailer up...go figger )
  13. '84 - '86 V8 Camaro.....JTR sells one with a thicker core. They have worked for me with a 500 hp 383 SBC.....
  14. Many thanks, Mike...still got our fingers crossed that the powers-that-be realize how much more important SEZ is than flunky ol' flight training ) Sure was looking forward to seeing the hotrod run 8's. John, I'm sorry for the delay...I have been trying to upload the listing for the '78 in the 'for sale' area and don't seem to be having any luck...without the listing, the price won't make sense..I will try something here: 78' 280Z 85% complete Engine (383 SBC 10.2:1 compression) 4 bolt chevy 350 block bored .030 over Eagle 3.75" stroker crank Eagle 5.7" rods Eagle 4.030 pistons Clevite bearings Sealed power rings Jegs aluminum heads (70cc chamber) 195cc intake runners 1.550 springs Harland Sharp roller rockers Moly pushrods Crower solid lifter roller cam Milodon oil pump Double roller timing set SFI 7.25" damper Holley Commander 950 EFI 1000 CFM throttle body 36 lb injectors Hedman block hugger headers (coated) MSD 6AL box MSD electronic distributor MSD coil Gear reduction mini starter Electric water pump 160 Amp alternator K&N filter w/extreme top Transmission Performance built 700r4 Gil Younger mods w/transgo sk700 13 vein oil pump Borg Warner High energy 9 clutch 3/4 pack Kolene steels Borg Warner 'red' clutches High-rev spring kit for input drum Sealed Power 'beast' sunshell High rpm priming spring in front pump Borg Warner kevlar 2/4 band Banks servo oil flow mods in pump extensive TV system mods 2400 RPM stall converter B&M 4 speed shifter and cable Body/Frame JTR set-back conversion Fiberglass GNose front end Fiberglass rear quarter Fiberglass 4" cowl hood Fiberglass 1982 corvette rear facia/bumper Full cage tubing runs from front frame to rear suspension mounts All glass and panels are included aluminum radiator Electric Fan Suspension Front and rear Tokiko strut cartridges R230 rear VLSD 3.69:1 gears Modern Motorsports R230 companion shaft conversion Moser custom axles/R230 CV conversion rear adjustable coil-over conversion Modern Motorsports stub axle conversion to 5-bolt 4.5 inch spacing Complete Energy Suspension master bushing set installed Complete new rack and pinion/new ball joints Mickey Thompson tires 15X4 Weld Rod Lite front wheels 15X10 Weld Rod Lite rear wheels Relocated steering for clearance Brakes Modern Motorsports Toyota front disc brake conversion , sintered bronze pads Modern Motorsports rear disc brake conversion with sintered bronze pads New rotors all around New brake lines New brake booster New Master Cylinder (still needs to be bled) Jeg's roll control Miscellaneous extra's 16 Gal fuel cell Modified '65 corvette chambered exhaust Braided fuel line to EFI/Rubber return line Holley electric EFI fuel pump Denny's aluminum drive shaft with 1310 u-joints complete new carpet set Seats newly upholstered All front and rear lites and lenses Entire car wired with 12 circuit Painless Wiring system $600 2.5" universal exhuast pipe kit and mufflers to make another system extra 700R4 built the same as the one in the car w/3000 stall converter New, in the box, Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads for up to .700 lift, 200cc intake runners, 70cc chambers All gauges installed in factory locations electronic speedometer with sending unit at transmission allows calibration of speedo for gear/tire changes. There's more, I just can't think of it at the moment...everything has got to go. $15K gets everything...again, some assembly required. price is negotiable to a point. Wayne
  15. Shannan, I'm proud of your work!!! Can't believe how much you must have gotten accomplished. I appreciate the offer, and will take you up on it if need be. You're doing just what you need to do in the help arena..."pay it forward"..) Wayne
  16. John, It's a '78 280Z with 383 SBC fuel injected, built 700r4, Denny's driveshaft, R230, Moser axles, fuel cell, etc, etc....I have everything plus extra's to complete the car...some assembly required.
  17. Thanks for the thoughts....John....trust me, Godley runs a national level NHRA Super Gas car and he knows my sense of urgency ). No Sir....still sitting where it was last Sept....just started it up for a guy today. I plan on bringing some flyers out with me when I come. Wayne
  18. Lookin' GOOD, Andrew....I like the six-rib system..good move. Keep at it, it never ends. ) Wayne
  19. Update...cautiously optimistic...transmission folks say I may be up and running with the 4L80E by Tues evening....I have everything crossed...(we-e-e-l-l-l-l-l-l, not EVERYthing) that we can pull this off. If not, powerglide it is. By the way, I just thought of something... RIP/John/Jerry...If I don't need my PG, I will bring it in case somebody else does for some reason....it's a Godley-built 182 with 3800 stall converter set up for nitrous W/a bracket brake. I believe it will take some abuse..Godley builds a good trans. Anyway, keep things crossed...) Wayne
  20. You got it, Deja....at least we can have a little fun,eh?
  21. YEEEE-Hawwwwww, Warren...looks like you're kicking some butt! Best of luck.....Looks like Shannan is doing the same thing. Thanks John, my backup plan: If I suspect I can't get the car back with the 4L80E fixed by next Wed, I will go get the car and re-install the PG....I may not be able to make a full quarter mile, as I don't want to twist the engine past 6500, but at least I will be able to make some smoke, wear out some tires and get some 1/8th mile times, eh? Most importantly, I will get to impress the heck out of the troops with my custom hood prop....actually painted red this time....) Wayne
  22. Many thanks, Shannan....offer appreciated but nothing to do...I trailered the hotrod to Moultrie yesterday so the folks who built the transmission can have at it. Begged, pleaded and offered bribes to get it back in time to do some needed work. We'll see what happens. Wayne
  23. Hey IBHSBC, you sure know how to make a guy feel better....Sorry for your troubles and hope they work out....makes mine seem tame by comparison. Goes to show the view is all in how you look at the tea leaves, eh? Wayne
