  1. Has anybody mentioned you are a sick man, Warren? ) Best of luck with yours also...I remember scrambling to get the car finished (at least driveable and safe) right up until I left to come up Sat afternoon last year. If you need it, I've got a 700r4 built with all the Gil Younger mods, kolene steels, kevlar bands, banks super-servo, etc, etc, as well as a 3K stall converter. I can't remember where you are from in GA, but I am here in Albany.....let me know if you need to use it. Wayne
  2. Murphy is at it again....I busted my butt to get long-tube headers on the hotrod and was quite pleased with the result...it was so good that I was leery of running the quarter with the powerglide (I am running a 10:1 street motor with 4.86 gears and don't want to spin it where it would go with the powerglide). I again, busted my butt (and a few other choice parts) to take the PG out and re-install my rebuilt 4L80E so I would have the gears. Can't make it work right...spent 2 hours on the phone with Compushift in CA (that is the controller I am using) and that part of the system is working fine. Shifts fine through 1, 2, and 3 but when I hit 4th, it locks the wheels. Now I have to find a trailer to get this thing down to Moultri GA to the guy who built it and see if he can get it right before SEZ8. Man, I sure hope so!!! I will be there anyway, even without a hotrod, but it sure won't be the same...wish me luck..... Wayne
  3. Hey Shannan, I've got an idea!!! Why don't you get a Holley fuel pump made for a carb and save all the headaches??? ) Just raggin' you, my friend....however, I DO recommend that you spring for a Holley Red pump...it is preset at 7 psi and works great for its intended use. Before I went FI, I had a 1050 on the hotrod. I used the Holley Red and never had a problem...before you ask, yes, I looked for it and don't know what I did with it when I took it off. Sorry, old people ya know. Wayne
  4. Shannan, I just put my 4l80e back in the hot rod and I usually put 4 quarts in a dry transmission/torque converter and fire it up, run it through the gears, let it idle and check the fluid. It is usually not on the stick, I put 2 more quarts in and run it through the gears, check it again, usually on the bottom of the stick, I put 2 more quarts in, run it through the gears and check it...it is usually right on full. If you didn't start out with a totally dry transmission, the you have too much fluid in. Drain about 4 quarts out, run it through the gears and see where you are. If still too much, take some out, if not enough, add some. I found my 700r4's to be very similar in capacity to the 4l80e. Let us know how you come out. Wayne
  5. How true, Scottie....Art Carr gets around $3K for a competition 200R4 without torque converter..... Wayne
  6. Mike...2 items of interest....1. I have a pump gas 600 hp 454 SBC in my 71 240Z with JTR mounts. With the carburated manifold, I had to use a dropped air cleaner and 3 inch filter to clear the hood. I installed fuel injection and it came with a Victor Jr and it clears very well, even with a 5 inch filter. Since that time, I had my World products intake modifed for fuel injection and had to go to a cowl induction hood because the manifold is so tall. Your mounting style and induction configuration will play a huge roll in what style hood you can get away with. 2. there are a quite a number of built 200r4 transmissions behind 3500 lb 700 hp/600 lbft turbo Buicks that would seem to negate your feelings about that particular transmission. Wayne
  7. Super Job!! I can relate as I just finished going from block huggers to S&S long-tube (about had to disassemble the car to get them in there) and fabbed 3" inch exhaust to mate up to my side pipes. I have zero room underneath for a system. Yours is much better looking than mine, for sure!!! Hope it sounds like you want it to. Wayne
  8. Sounds like a killer, Doc....details as you go, pls... Wayne
  9. Lookin' good Deja...congrats! It will be done before ya know it! ) Wayne
  10. I have everything we'll need....will check with you next week when I get back and we'll get together...and the name is Wayne...) Should be fixable me-thinks...
  11. Right on, John...I keep on thinking he said he was using the stock in-tank fuel pump. If that is the case, I'm thinking he should be using a flow-through fuel pressure regulator to route excess fuel back into the tank through the stock return line. I don't think the stock fuel pump was made to dead-head and it may fail if he keeps it like that. I could be wrong on both counts. )Either change the type of regulator or use a Holley Red pump that is already regulated at 7 psi so no worries and of course, follow your instructions for placement. Either way, sounds like he needs to replace the pump. .02 from this end. Wayne
  12. Hard to tell without being there, however, have patience, grasshoppa ), we will get it right when I get back in town.... Wayne
  13. How true, how true...been there, done that, got a couple of T-shirts (and over the years a bunch of stuff that wasn't what I wanted for twice what I would have paid had I had planning and patience). Wayne
  14. Thanks for the kudo's Scottie and Mike.....problem I have Scottie is that you keep on getting faster and faster and I can't keep up...) Wayne
  15. Thanks, John...looking forward to seeing you folks at SEZ and seeing the monster car do its thing.... Wayne
  16. DavyZ, you are a sick man!!! ) Don't have a video camera at the moment, but will try to see what I can do. In regards, to the Victor Jr, I just happen to have one already converted ), i.e., the one I just replaced. PM me and see if we can make a deal.... Boost, V8, small cubes....the MGM (Mean Green Machine) is in the process of being tuned as we speak...284 Toyota V8 w/ forged crank, 4 bolt mains, SBC forged rods, Ross custom forged pistions, supercharged, turbocharged, nitroused, and alcohol injected. I've had it up to 20 lbs of boost so far, but am still in the process of setting fuel and timing maps. Indications are she will be a beast in lamb's clothing. ) Wayne
  17. HOT!!!! You da Man!!!! Keep the info coming.... Wayne
  18. Hey, Deja...good to hear from you. Hope to do much better this year now that it's sorted out. Still pretty loud, nothing subtle about this thing...actually it's a small block vice a big block....although it sounds like one...see ya at SEZ8 Wayne
  19. Thanks for the prop, z-ya...I appreciate...Hate to admit this in public, but it is an EECIV system same as a 88-93 Mustang. Running a modified corvette MAF that sits under the air cleaner with a signal conditioner box between it and the EEC so it can read the signal. Works very well...best time with the old manifold was 6.70 in the 1/8th on street drag radials. Wayne
  20. Made some changes to the hotrod...I believe the intake was restricting air flow (when I replaced the 1050 carb with the FI, the system came with a standard Victor Jr) I had the World products intake modified with some bungs and put the system back together with a little coo-coo juice for those steep on-ramps. I set a goal to drive it to the track, break into the fives, (1/8th mile track) and drive it home. I'm doing this on a 10:1 motor running 93 octane pump gas. I drove the car today and sure feels like it breathes easier. If the weather holds, I will test it out this Sunday...wish me luck. Wayne PS...pls excuse my highly engineered, custom hood prop....gotta paint it red for SEZ 8...)
  21. You GO Mike....let us know how it turns out....understand y'all may have been getting some flurries today....better you than me..) Wayne
  22. H-m-m-m-m-m...do I detect a Zebra in your future...)
  23. That's a BAAD Dude, Uncle John.....Sure Glad Jerry is back up to snuff....looking forward to seeing y'all at SEZ Wayne
