  1. How i did it and how I would do it today are slightly different. First I installed and aligned the parts as they were inteded to be used (hood fenders). Then I used wood blocks and a big hot glue gun to bond the pieces. Here is where I would do it differently.Splain in a second. http://users.adelphia.net/~evilrufuskay/Finally.htm Notice the lines I made to indicate where I was going to cut the fenders. Then I removed the temp bonnett and flipped it over. Using 1 foot wide by 6 foot pieces of Matte (the fiber stuff not the woven as it is stronger) I laid at least 5 pieces wetting each with resin along the seam between the fenders and the hood. The i reinstalled the clip and using the same size pieces of matte i secured the top. After curing i cut the fenders...that was the scary part. Then using the VR pieces John made special for me ( he just laid up the top section of his cheek panels http://www.reactionresearch.com/NewCheeks.htm It was tough to bond the top pieces of the cheek to the lower portion of the remaining fender but I am glad I did as it came out sweet!! I also cut the rear "ears" off the fenders and bonded them to the hybrid cheek panel. This was to keep them from shaking around under high speeds... Finally I used John's VR hinge and bonded it to the bottom of the clip while the bonnett was installed on the car. i had to cut some recess holes (more like groves on the inside of the airdam to allow the bonnet to open all the way as it hit the unibody. As for what I would do different is i would not use hot glue and blocks. Being confident now I would just lay up the resin and matte on the top of the installed pieces while it was installed the first time. http://users.adelphia.net/~evilrufuskay/awwwwwwww_yeah.htm Good luck speeder. i almost bought the YZ front pieces but did not think my Hybrid cheek panels would work. Rufus
  2. once again the correct terms are: in-lb ft-lb I may have been wrong about how springs are rated / reported but I am confident in the abreviations.
  3. They change manufacturers from time to time just like most retailers. Best price for them means more profit. I recently tested a bunch of impact wrenches for Stanley Tools. They were deciding on what company to use to put their name on. MAC were IR with the MAC name on them. We only tested one Snap-on and it was the "snap-on" top model. It faired pretty well and I thought it was IR but we did so many that I could easily be mistaken.
  4. Ingersoll Rand probably makes the snap on air tools either them or cambell- hausfield. Most air tools are made by one of them, they just put different names on them.
  5. LMAO!!! Not work safe for sure..although I sent it to a bunch of work buddies. Some one should have told him not to stick it in soo far. Once he started getting burned it wasn't going anywhere as he bunghole clenched down on the stick!! Awesome!!
  6. Yeh I built my one piece using Subtle and Vella Rossa parts. I can share some insight if you would like. I bet you got it figured out though. The metal 1/4's i built were based on the YZ's and I plan on 18 x 12 rims with no problems. I could even go 18 x 13 as I added about 1" of width to each side beyond the YZ design...now if i could just afford wheels and tires...
  7. good point. Exactly the kind of idea I was looking for. Heck if I had 6 guys we could probably carry it out to the flat bed... Or how about this. Get it up on the flatbed still on the rot (easier to spell) then block the fraim rails somehow to avoid the flexing. I could even run bracing all the way down the car which would be attached to the rot itself. The rot is super heavy duty 3.5 x 3/8 square tubing!! So it will definately not flex itself. Thoughts? I will mock something up and post for review.
  8. well that was quick!! Congrats to both of you. Now...whos gonna fess up...hmmm?
  9. Loooks sweet Rick. Did you say something about changing the front as well? I read back through but think I am missing something?
  10. Thanks man, I will keep your gracious offer in mind. I may end up renting a flatbed and moving the car still on the rot. It doesn't make much sense to put stuff on it that I do not plan to use...Glad to here things are working out with you and the GF. Rufus
  11. Well i disassembled my suspension some time ago with the thoughts of installing coilovers. Now I am getting ready to move my shop and I have to pull the car off the rottisierie (sp?) I wa going to throw the struts back together but I seem to be missing one front spring and one rear spring cap. I also tossed the strut inserts like a fool and without them I am shot! Anybody got some of these parts laying around? Or maybe a suggestion for doing it some other way? Otherwise I have to leave the car on there and it will be a SOB to move. It can be done but it will suck!!
  12. Ribbing aside, whoever buys this is getting a great deal. I had the pleasure of seeing it in person and all of Tim's comments in the ad are true. A great example of selling something for far less than it is worth. Good luck with the sale Tim. I don't see it lasting long...
  13. I think the term 'guy' is quite a stretch...
  14. LOL!! Don't be so hard on yourself for being from Kentucky!! BTW I was born and raised in Ky so I can toss that kind of joke around!! You don't get a name like Rufus up here in Buffalo!!
  15. Recently I have been putting ion as little media as possible and it seems to work better.
  16. Pretty sure springs are usually measured in foot pounds. these seem to be inch pounds even though their abbreviation is off. ft-lb in-lb are the proper terms
  17. I recently used a similar product by Duplicolor on a leather jacket. The jacket was originally bright yellow....ewwww... but now is black. It holds up very well with minimal wear. If used on a dash or door panel I could see it lasting forever.
  18. I bouught a 300 buck blaster from HF and it blows...I have modified it numerous times including a gun hose combe from Husky. Let us know how the plans look. I am definately interested in hearing about it.
  19. Sell the Opal instead!! I am with Mike K. Cut it up you wuss! If you sell it someone eles is gonna chop it up, smash it up, or worse...throw a giant aluminum wing and a bunch of APC stickers on it!!
  20. The Skyline station wagon is saaweeeet!
  21. "The Black Hole" cuz whenever I open my wallet anything with any density is immediatly sucked in, never to be seen again!!
  22. Rusty Headers? What abot the planks of wood holding up the battery and the other side of the engine compartment?!?! EDIT: Oops I see it was noticed already...
